So I started to ride again after 8 yrs. At that time I had a full rigid sort of mtb. Just a kids bike and just did some dirt trails with my friend. Now I didn't want to spend my whole savings on a bike. So I bought a good looking second hand Grand Canyon SLX Al 9.9 2017. Only things I need to do/did are maintenance. Fluids, oils and grease. For 500 euros I think pretty good bike. Love ur vids🔥
Excellent video, I felt very identified since that is how I always get my bikes, on a low budget it always turns out to be fun in some way and satisfying!
Well this was nice to see!! And great to see portuguese guys doing this content! I would like very much to see this type of videos but with a XCO (FS even better) or a All Mountain bike! What a great bike for that price! Nice! Just wanted to let you know that the shop where you bought that shock also has a bike brand, which is somehow often overlooked. Radon Bikes have REALLY great deals. You get much bike for the money there. I think Radon owns the bike discount shop. Ofcourse they also cant sell enduro bikes new for 1300, but they still have great deals.
Thank you very much! It rides amazing! Really agressive geometry, the only downside is the climbs, it doesn’t climb that well, but we only care about going downhill 😂
Haha currently doing the same thing on a 2020 Reign SX, the perfect bike for efficient enduro budget bike ! The only think I hate on it is the seat tube angle that is just waaaay too low Loved the vid' btw !
nice vid! breakdown of the geometry and downsides of the build would have been nice (short dropper, 2piston vr break, short reach) to but the price into perspective bc building a bike like is about finding compromises and you picture the sunny side only
Personally, I bought a new Enduro/Trail ish bike and its amazing! Spectral Mullet CF8 2023 frame and its 160/150 and i got it on sale, 2k ish off and it has a coil shock!! (price in AUD)
Good video. I had a budget of €3000 in mind for my enduro, ended up coughing up 4066 for a 2023 Orbea Rallon M-team mullet. It was 45% off on bike24. You are better at finding deals and sticking to the budget 😅
Hi, did you also Check the leverage rate of the bike? I know that it can be difficult to simply swap a air Shock to a coil Shock for a bike because those two shocks can have really different progression rates. Air shock can have a lot of progression depending on how it is tuned in the inside. Coil shock often dont have any progression.
Damn I never thought of buying a second hand and selling the original parts to save money and put better parts on definitely gonna do this for my future dirt jumper
@@mtbrave yea I’ll definitely do that just bought my dream enduro bike so my pockets a little empty haha just gotta wait a little while I bought a pivot firebird and now I wish I saw this video before buying it 😂
do u prefer walfort 3 in 1 bicycle chain spray? its says '' This spray will keep your bicycle chain in top condition. It has a triple action: cleaning, lubricating and protecting.'''
I moved to netherlands and I want to start mtb, all I want is a bike for flow at small and medium size flowy jump trails, do you recomend a hardtail, enduro... I dont know anything about mtb, im a snowboarder and I just watch your videos and I want to get into this!
Hello Alvaro! First it depends how much you want to spend on a bike. Hardtails are cheaper, however a full suspension bike offers more comfort, grip and stability. I would always advise to get a full suspension bike 😁 I tried an hardtail once I wasn’t a fan of it ahahah
I would have got a better brakeset and balance it with a cheaper shock if necessary to stay within budget. Or at least swap the front and back calier (two pot in the front). cool build tho !
To change the suspension of an enduro, do you have to check how many millimeters it can withstand or is it only a certain mm range? The same question applies to the shock. Awesome video, one sub more :)
Yes, it is always good to know how much travel you can put on your bike (specially if you go low) the shock even more important, otherwise it cannot fit
16:18 Those are cartridge bearings in the upper cup, right? They're put in the wrong way; the balls in the cartridge of the upper cup are supposed to be facing *down*, contacting the cup so that they can roll during steering actions. I made that same mistake and destroyed my upper bearings in only a few miles.
You significantly alter the geometry of the frame and the head angle. That might or might not create a weak point. If you are riding enduro I assume you ride aggressively, please keep an eye on those headtube welds, it would suck to have a failure there. When I was younger I did not care for things like that but as I age and injuries start to pile up I do. Safe trails!

you don't have any issues with the 65mm shock? I'm thinking about change 60mm to 65mm but it seems to me that there is quite little space even with 60mm and I'm afraid that it will be too little with 65mm
Hey i hope you see this and can give me an answer. You replaced the front fork with a 27,5 wheel to a 170mm fork with 29 wheel. Doesn't this completely change the geometry?
The rotors are fine, yes, it changes geometry a little bit, the bike gets slacker. However, the more agressive geometry makes it amazing for the descents! The only compromise that we notice until now is the climbs, but we don’t care too much about it to be honest… 😅
Question where is the best place to sell your bike. Just because im selling my ragley and I feel like no one wants to buy ut although for how ive specced it, it would be a steal for anyone. Can anyone give me suggestions on wheshoelse i could put it up?
Well sometimes selling bikes it is not easy… My advise is, if you are from Portugal, use Facebook marketplace and OLX and make sure you have great pictures, sometimes people don’t take the time for the pictures and then they cannot show the real beauty of their bikes 😁
@@mtbravebro definately try the german kleinanzeigen thats their used bikes bigger offer and odten times cheaper and most sellers are willing to ship to the NL
A size large from 2018 would be smaller than a size medium from 2024. Bikes have gotten way bigger in the past few years. I believe you should not focus so much on frame size but on its actual dimensions.
Why are the second hand bikes more expensive than the brand new bikes? Is the spec really that much different? This is the same in canada. People want way too much for a decent used bike when you can buy a new bike for less with new geometry and new everything no need to service shocks or bearings...
Yes! Normally it’s because the second hand bikes have better components than the low budget new bikes… that or the person selling it is crazy, which may happen 😂
Lowballing on Pinkbike works like a charm.
Ahahahah 😂😂😂
Awesome video! The only thing I would have done differently is swapping the brake calipers to have 4 pot in the front
Thank you very much! Yes, we think the same, probably will keep an eye for a 4 piston shimano caliper to swap, since we still have 50€ 😁
