I watched some old footage of him coaching in practice. Wow, he was great! I wish I would have discovered it earlier.

There are several spellings here. How did your uncle actually spell his last name? "Hennessy" or "Hennessey"?

Coach Bryant was the meanest son of a gun in the valley.... but that man was a man among men and a man other men wanted to be like. RIP Coach Bryant....

I like the way he seldom said Coach Bryant , but referred to him just as " he ".
Coach Bryant and Coach Saban I ve not seen nor heard a Alabama current, past or opponent players say anything but respectful compliments about either. He doesn't get mentioned like either above , but Alabama has had three awesome coaches. the third being Gene Stallings , legends all 3.

"legends reunion" - availavle through the Bryant Museum. Can't remember the company that produced it, but they've done the same thing for other schools - could be a great gift.

Don't have many (any, actually) fond memories of Dude Hennessy. He was a jerk to me and most of the walk-on freshmen in practices circa 1971. He used to call me "Little Man" - I was 5'10" 175 - and he barely came up to my chest. He may have been a great guy, but that's not my memory of him.
