I have a 2020 Camry XSE with the panoramic sunroof. Now, I used to have a 2001 Acura TL, with a standard sunroof, and I would open that thing every chance I got. It was nice having the open roof and fresh air. With the Camry, I almost always leave it closed, because I do not want to use it any more than needed, thanks to the knowledge from this channel that they are an absolute nightmare to repair.
No, the GM/Toyota partnership started in the 80s, not 90s. The Toyota Corolla of 1985 was also sold as the Chevy Nova. Both were built in California at a joint plant called NUMMI (now it’s a Tesla factory). I think this was Toyota’s first experience building cars in the US. This joint GM/Toyota plant was supposed to be a learning exercise for both companies.
I knew about all of the N. American "NUMMI" cars, but had no idea Toyota had touched a Cavalier. They made sure that fact got buried in the United States. :o)
The original Cavalier was a Citation. Because it was a POS, they changed it to Cavalier, then Cobalt, then Cruz. So bad they had to keep changing the name to fool people. They finally discontinued it all together.
@@henrymorgan3982they actually had a TRD cavalier, they're pretty rare. I liked my old cavalier I had, it was a reliable car for 800 bucks, considering I didn't even put 800 bucks into maintenance over the time I owned it.
@@richardspeckymh Why would they? They are still better than their competitors. They might not be as great as they used to be but what are the alternatives?
I have a 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport with that hood scoop. When you look at it from underneath, it actually looks like a functioning hood scoop but it"s not. Weird
Yes - Just remove it to improve visibility when offroad - it really impacts visibility when coming over a rise. Both our 5th gen 4runner and Colorado ZR2 have this terrible anti-feature.
I suspect it’s a nod to the turbo diesel Toyota trucks sold in the rest of the world. Main downside is it will reflect the sun right in the drivers eyes when the sun hits it at a certain angle Doesn’t happen often but it does happen usually in spring and fall😅
I’m so glad to see the Matrix getting some love! I had to part with mine last year due to rust from living in central PA, but for 19 years and 10 months it was the most reliable and functional car! I have a RAV4 hybrid now, but I miss some of the little things the Matrix could do (fold flat passenger seat, back window that opened separately). Such a great, versatile, and inexpensive car.
Bring back the Matrix!!!!!!! I have been living the Matrix-in-disguise Pontiac Vibe dream for over 19 years. Because of that fold flat seat I recently carried two 8 foot extension ladders, two six foot step ladders and two 6 foot occupants with ease. Due to an annual visit to Krown Rustproofing here in Ontario, my Vibe is as solid as the day it left the factory. I admire the RAV4 Hybrid and it would be top of my list if I was shopping today but I cannot understand why so many useful features have disappeared over the years. Beyond the ones you mentioned, how handy would a sliding second row with 40/20/40 seating be in your RAV4 today if those assets had been carried forward from Generation 3?
Because the problem is in the USA the matrix and the venza i don't understand why Americans people don't want buy but in Canada is very popular even the first generation matrix and the venza still on the road today i see everywhere where i live in milton just outside of Toronto i owned a second generation matrix a lot of room inside and my 2022 venza hybrid excellent on gas saves me a lot of money and very good looking suv too with stargaze roof interior materials almost like lexus. Thanks take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
And the Yaris. Always been our "second car", my "wife's runabout". It has over-performed and outlived every other vehicle we have owned. It has been thoroughly abused and other than one squeaky belt, has never required anything more than engine oil and petrol. I dismissed it at first but has been with us so long now it's like a family member.
I alway"s look forward to your next vid.You are "Obviously" a great mechanic but you have a real talent for explaining things at a base level for the everyday person. Also a GREAT,sense of humor!
No one talking about the Toyota Cressida we had in South Africa? The predecessor to the Camry. Absolutely fantastic and reliable cars. It's a bit thirsty, but that's always been a Toyota's thing.
Yes i use to owned an 1987 Cressida i restore for many years in the garage no rust at all even i live in Toronto Canada a lot of snow but my Cressida have no rust beautiful car like a tank but a few years ago I sold it
Because the reason I sold my 87 Cressida i need space Because I'm not only sold my Cressida i also sold my 98 camry v6 because it take a of gas because the gasoline in Canada is very expensive now i just bought a 2022 venza hybrid i don't think you guys have a venza hybrid in South Africa but in some Asian countries have but toyota use a different name call the harrier now I'm still owned toyota matrix 2.4 plus the venza hybrid excellent on gas i don't need to go to the gas station often
I had a 2009 RAV4 V6 LTD. It was a great SUV and really fun to drive, but there we’re some strange/unusual things about it. Perforated leather seats looked and felt like it belonged in a Lexus, but the headliner above it looked and felt bargain basement. There was an option for 3rd row seats. Later limited models came with fender flares to accommodate bigger tires, but the tires weren’t any wider than the base model. Headlights used regular 9006 halogen bulbs, Fog lights used BRIGHTER H11 bulbs
That’s interesting I didn’t know that generation had an option for third row seats I had to look it up I thought you were saying you wanted third row seats. The few models that had those must have been so cramped
Totally love my 2024 Venza. Your previous video got me to buy one. The changes to the Crown keeps the Venza a more unique vehicle on the road. However, I certainly hope that I will not pay for that later on.
A shop I worked in, had 3 or 4 customers with Toyota/GM cars. They all loved them and none of them were in for frequent repairs. Through the years I replaced the transmissions on all of them. If memory serves, I believe it fifth gear seemed to have a problem and would jump out of gear all the time.
When talking about the distribution of options, I immediately thought of the LED headlights on the 14 Corolla 😂 I was hoping that would be one of your examples
My wife loved her 2006 Scion tC but after 12 years it was showing its age and I replaced it with a RAV4 Limited AWD which she hated so then came the CHR that she kinda enjoyed but in 2024 she bought a Toyota Cross XLE AWD finally she loves her car again. I really enjoy your channel and all the effort you put out to promote our great Toyota products. Thank You!
Not mechanical, but top of the list for me is removing the spare tire on a sienna. IT'S A FAMILY VAN! The top 2 primary uses are typically hauling kids around and road trips. 2 situations where a temporary patch with an inflation kit as a very temporary fix is not helpful. "Why not just choose the option to add on the spare tire in the side of the trunk?" - oh I'd love to, but Toyota has not allowed you to custom build a Sienna in years and very very rarely ship a random build with the spare tire option. All in the name of extra cargo space.
also in the name of maximizing profit and reducing weight for minimal fuel savings. Every vehicle sold should at least have a reasonably affordable spare tire option.
True that a spare tire is very nice But if they're using Fix-A-Flat cans nowadays I think that's nice in some ways, If it's faster than changing a flat or you're able to fill the tire while inside the car. Because to change a spare you have to be outside the car, and it's very dangerous on the side of a highway. You can be hit and killed very easily and it's happened to a lot of people. So my opinion is a spare tire is good if you are able to drive the car on the flat tire until you are in a safe area like a parking lot. However you would ruin the flat tire by driving on it, Even if it looks fine on the outside it'll be damaged internally.
@@zzoinks Read Toyota's ridiculous instructions for using fix-a-flat. You definitely have to be outside the car. As an added bonus, fix-a-flat won't repair sidewall damage and many tire shops won't repair tires filled with fix-a-flat.
Great video sir thanks for sharing all of the information! About the "gaskets not included". Nissan/Infiniti does the same thing. I went to buy a thermostat to fix my sister in laws Infiniti G35 and was very surprised when it didn't come with a gasket either. What's funny is she had picked up a thermostat from the local auto parts store even though I told her to get OEM. That non-OEM had the gasket in the box =P
Yes, I saw a Matrix while on the bus coming home from dropping off my Honda at the dealership for a recall. As I was looking at it i remembered saying to myself, what a nice little wagon and wondering why is it gone?
Omg that last one really grinds my gears as a Toyota master myself. Prime example is brakes! When I had a Subaru Wrx and bought brakes, the box came with shims and hardware. In Toyota land if you get brakes you have to pay separately for shims and hardware. I just find it annoying that when a customer is already paying good money for pads, it should come with new shims and hardware. It shouldn’t be an up charge
I had no idea Toyota had issues with parts prices. People are always complaining that European cars have expensive parts at least in the United States but nobody says about how Toyota apparently has expensive parts and annoyances too
@@zzoinks I think every manufacturer has its parts issues. Ya Toyota you have to buy stuff that should come with it separately but compared to stuff like ford for example, the Toyota stuff is more likely to work out the box versus getting a dud like ford. I only bring up ford cuz of channels like flying wrenches
To make a vehicle and discontinue it in the same year is the best way to make enemies. Other than that, it is the brand of car that has is following of people who know quality. Great video from someone who KNOWS TOYOTA!
We have 2005 Matrix and it is the most versatile vehicle we have ever owned and love it. I would buy another one in a heartbeat if Toyota brought it back. Until then, we keep taking care of it and will be sad the day it no longer runs.
First of all, a great greeting from Medellin, Colombia 🖖🇨🇴 A place where Toyota is in every corner, town and place in our country. The history of Toyota has been more than an automotive brand in Colombia, it has been a culture. I would like to have the opportunity to talk a little about the Toyota MR2, it would be very interesting because it is one of those models that seems to have been forgotten by the brand and for me it is extremely significant because between 1996 and 2000 when I lived in the US studying Automotive Service Management Technology I had a spectacular 1989 Toyota MR2 supercharge
@@zzoinks Yes. I did my studies of Automotive Service Management Technology at The Seminole State Collage in Sanford, FL. But at the end I've always work in Service Áreas for the last 25 years 😉🇨🇴🖖. Thanks for your coments and a grate hug from Medellín Colombia 🇨🇴🖖LLAP
@@davidsantamaria5509 Cool story. Did you think of Kaisen when TCCN mentioned Toyota has a simple recipe and they keep improving upon it? I did, also I think keeping it simple is part of the Sigma approach of reducing costs by not needing to come up with new systems of production/manufacturing, which is part of the reason why Toyota is so financially successful. Also, I think Toyota being a culture and not just a brand in COL. would be a great video for you to make. LLAP.
The Japanese culture based on Kaisen systems, 5S,Lean Manufacturing, Do it right the first time and the stability and projection of developments and technology are only the result of the Japanese culture of continuous improvement where these bases are a whole. The Japanese have no time or place. The challenges they have faced in history are proof of this and brands in the automotive sector such as Toyota, Mazda, and Honda have been proof of this. I do not mention Nissan because in the last 2 decades it has been immensely influenced by Renault. However, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha are also examples of motorcycles, engines and nautical developments. Now we see how China is at the forefront of electrical and electronic developments and I believe that no one is stopping them anymore.
Toyota USA screwed it up...the xB2 and xD were on the market too long when other competitors were fresh on the market, until the iA and iM came out but by that time, the brand already bled a lot of money. Sad because I enjoyed a lot of the free trinkets they gave away, and got plenty of Scion swag. Its speculated that the move from CA to TX really hurt the company.
I hope Toyota's top management watches your videos with Japanese translation. Your feedback is on point and actually totally suits what Toyota strives to achieve. Why would a prius get LED headlights before a Tacoma that costs 2X as much? Someone needs to analyze the progression between classes and IMPROVE. Improvement is the Japanese way, and it's the reason i have driven Toyotas for 15 years and won't buy anything else.
Doug DeMuro (who can be very irritating) has a great 'review' of the Avalon TRD. "It's like playing bingo with Earl down the street... except you're at a nightclub." During his detailed review of each of the TRD's details there would be a suppressed half-laugh, or (as the camera cuts away during a segue to the next detail) there'd be an evil smile.

Finding out that the Supra was really a Z4 broke my heart. The other tragedy is that you can spend another 2,000.00 usd more for a twin turbo and convertible option for the Z4.
I'll add one to that: getting rid of amber turn signals on all their U.S. model trucks. In the past, Toyota has always done things from a logical and practical perspective and amber turn signals have been proven to be easier to spot out and have always looked good on their older models, but now, they've decided to remove them and replace it for red which is not very like them to do. Amber signals are safer as they stand out from the other brake lights and night time lamps. Looks very low quality as well.
Not only that, they also started doing the BS combination brake and turn signals like GM and various Euro brands have fetishized for the USDM market. Why make them less safe? They've primarily stuck to ambers for the rear, with some exceptions (random example, a 2005 Sienna), but at least with the exceptions, the red rear signals were separated bulbs from the brake lights. Examples of new offenders I see today with the combination lights are the new Tundra, as well as the Corolla Cross.
@@sayjosetodayokayThe absolute worst I've seen is either a Kia or Hyundai where they put the turn signal on the bumper so it's really low and can barely be seen from behind the car
@@zzoinks the worst offender that follows that specific trend is the Bolt EUV. Not only does it have the turn signals in the bumper, they are also red, and are the combination brake and turn signals... Despite the damn car having taillights in the normal spot you'd expect. Why can't the brakes and turn signals be in the taillight cluster?
My two cents, after I bought my Avalon, I had to buy a special tool just to change the oil filter. Want to check the transmission fluid? No dipstick anymore. I do believe Toyota builds a good product overall, but their decisions sometimes defy logic.
BMW has gotten rid of the oil dipstick since mid 2000s and makes you check it in a menu. To be honest checking in the menu is convenient and probably easier habit to keep than checking the dipstick. But still weird that they removed the dipstick. The annoying thing is you can't even read the oil level in the menu until the car is warmed up. 😆 When it is not ready, the oil level will just display as two hyphens
In 2008 I bought a brand new Scion TC. It was affordable at my age of 24 back then. I came with a decent sound system and a small subwoofer including a sunroof I didn't really care too much with a 5 speed manual for $17,850. I was excited that they put a camry engine in a hatchback smaller car like this TC. I care more about power train than gadgets like most people. It is still running strong today, I maintain it very well. It has 203,000 miles, one owner. I do have my trusty 3rd gen 6 speed Tacoma OR. I always learn a lot from you, thanks you!
Toyota need to include Techs such as yourself not only in their product development but also just to improve their Consumer services. These are some amazing point and ideas on how to improve an already good product. More importantly, these are fairly easy and achievable improvements that will go a long ways for their product and Customer satisfaction.
Toyota is making history from being in the top of reability, dependability, and afortablity to become just another unreasonable automaker in just a few years.
The wierdest thing for me is that Aston-Martin needed a compliance car for emissions so they called up Toyota and rebadged an IQ. They called it the Cygnet.

Wow Ahmed, you hit the nail on the head about the parts mess. I have never understood why you can't get a complete strut assembly instead of SOOOO many individual parts. Your example of a thermostat without a gasket made me laugh as I just bought one for my '01Camry with the 1MZ. Great car but buying parts for it leaves me scratching my head sometimes. Thanks for the great insight and very useful content. God bless you brother and "have yourself a wonderful day".
I owned a Chevy Prizm, for internal parts it was easy since as stated they were the endless Corolla parts but for external parts on a model that was made only 2 years. Good luck!! I had to order lights from the 1 shop in the country that still had any. Shipping alone took 10 days. I had to duct tape the lights to avoid a ticket.
Thank you for another awesome video - I loved by Scion xB ----- it did burn oil, sold it to my niece for college and it's still running at 265k miles , just keep watch on the oil level at all times.
This comment is going to be off topic because it’s in response to the “Thank you for watching my channel!” video. I just wanted to say that you and your family are the type of people who made America what it used to be. Your work ethic, faith, and dedication to doing the very best job you can do instead of just going through the motions is what we need to become the norm again for us to move forward towards reclaiming a country we can all be proud of. I just retired after 32 years being a pilot for one of our major airlines and have always been blessed with the love and curiosity of all things mechanical. When I take whatever car I own at the time to its particular dealership for warranty or maintenance I always leave knowing the job is not going to be done in a professional manner. That might sound harsh and hard to believe that in all these years I’ve not been able to find a mechanic and or service writer that made me feel confident that the job was done to the best of their ability. If I could find a mechanic like you to care for my car it would make the entire experience of owning the car much more enjoyable. Anyway, thanks for the channel and I wish you many more years of doing what you love.
It's time forToyota to get another CEO. I have seen a lot of failures from Toyota as of lately but even over the years they made bad designs bad choices bad features and quality has fallen off. Honda quality has fallen as well. It used to be that if you want a reliable vehicle you would go with a Honda or Toyota. Now I'm not so sure anymore.
@@Thehappyfarmer-e8c oes the government affect the automotive industry? Government regulation in the automotive industry directly affects the way cars look, how their components are designed, the safety features that are included, and the overall performance of any given vehicle.

I have a strange toyota true story. My 1971 corolla 1.6L would lose power on the interstate 80. Then the motor would quit. The rain is freezing rain. The temperature is about 32. I remove the top of the aircleaner atop of the 2bbl carburettor. I look down. What do i see? ICE Removing the ice with my frozen fingers The motor would sputter and fire up. TOYOTA had no idea how to fix it This happened to me at least 8 times
@@martin-vv9lf Yes, as did Kawasaki carburated motorcycles from the mid-80s due to serious icing issues. The added coolant pipework looked awful but it worked. AFAIR this lick'n'stick solution persisted until the advent of fuel injection across the board in the early noughties.
I used to fly and work on general aviation aircraft with ice engines (no pun intended.) These aircraft have carburetor heat to prevent carb icing at altitude. There is a control knob that the pilot can pull to activate carb heat which is taken from the heat generated by the engine. I don't see any reason why this system can not be installed in cars with the carb icing problems. Of course, this idea is a moot point since cars with carburetors are a thing of the past. A lot of those general aviation aircraft are still around though, with carburetors and carb heat.
@@stephencruz885I think cars do have the heated carburetor. Heard about it on npr car talk radio show. On at least some cars they're supposed to be a tube running to the air intake from the engine bay so the air intake can suck naturally heated air from inside the engine bay. And that is supposed to prevent ice. The caller was having icing issues and the radio hosts thought it was related to missing the pipe to draw heated air from the engine bay.
I still think one of the most unusual but very effective toyota strange ideas is the radiator/condenser cooling fan driven by the power steering pump. I have it on my 1994 ES300. I believe it is a borrowed idea from their experience in the forklift industry. An application that has high demand with very little airflow through the radiator naturally. The power steering pump has low demand and it just seems brilliant to apply that to power the cooling fan in stop-and-go traffic in the big city during the summer when the a/c and the radiator have high demand without putting a high load on the alternator.👍 BTW, I loved your white Lexus restoration project.
AMD, The strangest thing Toyota has done in recent years is make car interiors smaller with the coming of Toyota New Global Architecture. Does Toyota really believe Americans and Canadians are generally as short (and thin 🤣😂) as people around the world or did they make a HUGE mistake with a shortsighted, one-size-fits-all, 'global' approach? 🤔🤨 Their chief rival Honda understands that we tend to be Big-Boned and designs cars to suit our Plus-Sized, Corn-Fed requirements. Hopefully someday Toyota will understand because today's Corolla hatch will almost fit inside the fabulous Matrix from ten years ago.
Spot on, the 2013 to 2018 camry and Corolla are the roomiest generation of both, and that was super appealing for lots of people. Next generation rolled up and they downed scalled them significantly which made the corola less undesirable choice.
You are the man! The changes that Toyota has done is telling me to buy another vehicle next time. They are making it harder for us DIY folks to be forced to go to the dealership for simple things. Bad move. My 2019 Highlander is the last Toyota I will buy. Thank you for being the most informative person about these issues. Wish you were located in California.
I am very happy that I decided to buy a 2022 Venza Limited. The way things are going with quality, I think I'll try to keep this forever. It has not had a single issue since I bought it, fingers crossed for when it's off the warranty :)

Watching your talking about Toyota Matrix. By the way, I have a Matrix 2003 XRS (6 speed manual) bought it from dealer (Oct 2002) with 16 original miles. Own it for the last 22 yrs (189,000 miles) STILL run strong (32 mpg average), just replaced front brake at 110000 (rear brake pads original, getting thin though...). Still original spark plugs (NEVER take out/ replace them yet) just one crank despite of hot or cold days.......Coolant/ brake fluid still original from dealer.....What a wonderful car I've ever owned, like you've said 'things don't break, do not touch/ replace'.......Totally agree with you! Never been in accident whatsoever...VIN stickers still intact on fenders, doors, hook, trunk....I've learned alot from your channel. Thanks. Richard from San Jose California
Back in the 80's we have a Chevrolet Nova that was basically a Toyota Corolla, or at least the engine was a Toyota 4A-C? After that my family traded it for a Toyota Corolla and I think we've have Toyota vehicles since then. The 80s/90s Cressida was a sweet car to drive as a teen 🙂
You are spot on with the matrix and yaris! The smaller thing they sell in canada is a 30k$ corolla...Also, bring the yaris cross! Oh, before i forget, could toyota make sure to build enough vehicule so that we would not have to wait 2 years to get a rav4 prime? Imagine a company not producing enough of a high demand car????
Great when the David can tell Goliath some home truths. Feedback is a gift, let's hope the CEO is a channel subscriber and watching this. We shouldn't be surprised that the Toyota management board over use the drinks cabinet in the boardroom. Love the move into comedy AMD, very funny.
They should hire you AMD for consulting for the Toyota / Lexus brand. Your advice will make Toyota plenty of money and they will continue to stay on top among the best auto makers 😎😎👍👍
Toyota has grown to be a large automotive manufacturer over the years. Most of the money is made by Toyota Motor Credit Acceptance(Lexus too)=financing of loans and lease by raising it own money (like a bank). Toyota Motor Sales USA in Plano, TX is the marketing arm and responsible for product planner to see what it can sell to USA consumers. Toyota manufacturing usa is responsible building vehicles in USA and Exports worldwide. Toyota HQ in Toyota city Japan has to make sure that ALL operations are making money even with dealing foreign exchange rates fluctuation. This is probably why this led to a lot of the strange things which AMD is talking about this video. Keep up the good TCCN.
Hey I had one of those little Scion iQ’s (2012) and loved it except for the horrible suspension…worst than a truck!! It was orange so my family called her Pumpkin. Put 100,000 on her with zero issues except for a serpentine that blew up, literally, while on the interstate.
These are a riot! I first noticed Toyota doing this when they introduced the 1998 Corolla. It came standard with automatic on/off headlights w/ daytime running lights, even on the base VE model, that had manual windows and locks. To get that feature on the Camry, you had to move up to the LE model, then opt for ABS, or buy the XLE, to get the automatic headlights with daytime running lights. Look at the Gen 4 Camry. If you see one driving down the road with daytime running lights, it has ABS and automatic headlights.
Also, about the Yaris, the Yaris NHP130 has rear wheel bearing issues, we replace them almost at every yearly inspection and they cost about 450 euro a piece. I've seen them go bad with any mileage, even as low as 20.000km
Dad had a mid-90's Geo Prism, GS I think was the trim. It had a screaming 7000rpm redline engine but the 4-speed auto transmission just killed the 140hp, or whatever it had in that lighter weight car. I think those were mechanically the same as a Toyota Corolla, I think, or some Toyota. It was eventually given to someone who needed a car but it had around 150k on it and still started the first time, every time.
In Europe you can buy a Mazda 2 (built by Mazda), and you can also buy a completely different car called Mazda 2 Hybrid, which is just a Toyota Yaris Hybrid. You can also buy the Toyota Corolla from Suzuki, called Suzuki Swace, and the Rav4 called Suzuki Across.
Ah, I owned a Chevy Chavilear (sp?), $300 each repair - which was often. My boyfriend then, now husband, also had a different version of the Chevalier! Lol! Really supported my mechanics in style!
Loved my 2009 Matrix S. It used a little oil between changes but overall it was great. The folding front seat and folding second row seats gave it a lot of cargo capacity. It was a cash for clunker deal that got us into Toyota and we have stayed with Toyota ever since. It also had a standard transmission which added to the fun.
I am convinced the real value sweetspot in Toyotas is buying a model about 10+ years old, so all the major quirks are well known; but, finding an example with say 40,000 to 60,000 miles (about where maintenance might start to be neglected).
You got to make sure to buy a good powertrain too. Some engine designs have issues so that means you have to research the good models not just buy any Toyota
I have a 2grfks in a 17 Tacoma and I swapped the coolant out 2 years ago (did the block drain thing) refilled the system using the airlift process and no cooling system problems at all. Never had to fiddle with the coolant level. I would sure like to see that video please.

With the Camry, I almost always leave it closed, because I do not want to use it any more than needed, thanks to the knowledge from this channel that they are an absolute nightmare to repair.
Any hole in your roof is no good!🤣
I will not get the XLE nor the XSE trim just because most--if not all--comes with a sunroof/moonroof.
Yes I had an '88 Nova until my wife totaled it. Great little car.
The dummy exhaust tips on the xse and se 4 cylnder camrys is so annoying and an eyesore once you know that its a fake.
Yes i agree. One exhaust tip has some exhaust soot the other tip is shiny SS. Obvious fake tip is annoying. BMW is also guilty.
Also reads like a waste of money
I'd probably go to a custom exhaust place & have them weld a connection.😉🤓
Amen!
Netflooder123 they make you pay for the non-functional dummys to boot!
The quick view of the Cavalier in the junkyard made me laugh out loud. Thx!
I knew about all of the N. American "NUMMI" cars, but had no idea Toyota had touched a Cavalier. They made sure that fact got buried in the United States. :o)
The other lol was why people actually bought one?
The original Cavalier was a Citation. Because it was a POS, they changed it to Cavalier, then Cobalt, then Cruz. So bad they had to keep changing the name to fool people. They finally discontinued it all together.

I hate the fake intake scoop on the 4runner hood. Make it work or delete it.
Same for Tacoma! Literally one of the main reasons I wanted a SR is no fake hood scoop
I have a 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport with that hood scoop. When you look at it from underneath, it actually looks like a functioning hood scoop but it"s not. Weird
Is there an aftermarket flat panel available to replace it? I would buy one if I could find one! I hate the reflection off the scoop.
Main downside is it will reflect the sun right in the drivers eyes when the sun hits it at a certain angle
Doesn’t happen often but it does happen usually in spring and fall😅
Can you please clone yourself and open up shops in like every state?
I’m so glad to see the Matrix getting some love! I had to part with mine last year due to rust from living in central PA, but for 19 years and 10 months it was the most reliable and functional car! I have a RAV4 hybrid now, but I miss some of the little things the Matrix could do (fold flat passenger seat, back window that opened separately). Such a great, versatile, and inexpensive car.
Scotty Kilmer is a huge fan (and owner) of the Matrix.
Prefer the Corolla brother because the windshield position is lower on the Corolla = better forward visibility

I was the proud owner of a Toyota Starlet. IMHO that was a great car.
Bring back the Starlet!
Totally love my 2024 Venza. Your previous video got me to buy one. The changes to the Crown keeps the Venza a more unique vehicle on the road. However, I certainly hope that I will not pay for that later on.
You might be able to order parts from Japan since they still make and sell the Harrier.
I wish you and your family great health and success! Thanks AMD for the content you share with us!
Thank You!
15:11 Forgot how to make small cars! Great line Mr. CCN!
Thank you for covering the Yaris faux pas! That never made sense to me!!
Bedankt
Yes, I saw a Matrix while on the bus coming home from dropping off my Honda at the dealership for a recall. As I was looking at it i remembered saying to myself, what a nice little wagon and wondering why is it gone?
Like most companies, Toyota would rather sell you a CUV for $3,000 or 4,000 more instead of an affordable wagon like the Matrix. 🤨
Excellent commentary. The bigger a corporation gets, the parts work against each other, to justify their existence.
It’s funny how they don’t include the shims and those Toyota brakes are so sensitive and makes so much noise when they get dirty
I had no idea Toyota had issues with parts prices. People are always complaining that European cars have expensive parts at least in the United States but nobody says about how Toyota apparently has expensive parts and annoyances too
@@zzoinks
I think every manufacturer has its parts issues.

Wow, do you work in automotive industry in Columbia?

For the last 7 years I had been a Consultor of 5S and Kaisen Systems, Safety Management Systems and Human Factors in the Aviation and Energy Sector.
Now we see how China is at the forefront of electrical and electronic developments and I believe that no one is stopping them anymore.
volumes of great information that is so useful
I will always love Scion. A Scion TC was my first car, my second car was a Scion FRS. Today I am moving to Lexus but I always remember my RICE bucket.
Scion was good. Hated to see them being consolidated back into Toyota and discontinued.
Always love the sarcasm bro 😂😂 15:47 @The Car Care Nut

I own a motorcycle and I don't have a Toyota, but this is great content. Subscribed, keep up the good work sir.

ICE
Removing the ice with my frozen fingers
The motor would sputter and fire up.
TOYOTA had no idea how to fix it
This happened to me at least 8 times
nissans carbs in the 90s had a water pipe from the engine to keep it warm.
Hopefully someday Toyota will understand because today's Corolla hatch will almost fit inside the fabulous Matrix from ten years ago.
haha big boned? why not call it as it is. Americans are fat!
Probably because the Corolla hatchback is more for the Japanese and European markets than the North American market.
@@aaronbryan5095 In Japan and Europe Toyota also sells a Corolla wagon for practical people so they can get away with an undersized hatch.
Just stop being fat
Spot on, the 2013 to 2018 camry and Corolla are the roomiest generation of both, and that was super appealing for lots of people. Next generation rolled up and they downed scalled them significantly which made the corola less undesirable choice.

Good to learn about the Celica cooling system, thanks; I have one and didn't know.
Please add the Corolla wagon to your list of demands for the Canadian market. 😁
Great when the David can tell Goliath some home truths. Feedback is a gift, let's hope the CEO is a channel subscriber and watching this. We shouldn't be surprised that the Toyota management board over use the drinks cabinet in the boardroom. Love the move into comedy AMD, very funny.
keep the videos coming I LOVE your channel and have learned SO much about my Lexus ls430
i wish i had a mechanic like you in my area.
you do amazing work.
They should hire you AMD for consulting for the Toyota / Lexus brand. Your advice will make Toyota plenty of money and they will continue to stay on top among the best auto makers 😎😎👍👍
Agreed!!!
We love our 1st gen xb still have it 360000 miles. Never had a problem with it except the ac.
We wish we could have the Corolla Touring Sports under any name.
Toyota is a shareholder in both so I’m sure we will see more and more of this.
@@rightlanehog3151 Agreed, and an option for the new 196hp AWD-E drivetrain (from prius); could be a real practical driver's car.
@@bradkerr2798 The Japanese market Corolla wagon has AWD but I believe it is based on the 1.8 powertrain.
Love your video. So, educational!
