  • This is a tutorial on how to fly a Procedural RNAV approach using the autopilot modes to LNAV/VNAV minimums on the Boeing 737-800 in X-Plane using the Zibo Mod.
    The approach used in this tutorial is the RNP Runway 12 into Cardiff (EGFF)
    This tutorial will also give you some insight into Standard Operating Procedures and callouts during the approach.

      @@Taylair if you have the time, could you possibly do a video on LOC or VOR approaches? I can do ILS (and now RNAV) but a walkthrough of these would be really helpful.

      Of course, I’ll add it to the list for a future video. Keep an eye out!

    Hi Taylair ! I was looking for a video about RNAV procedure for Zibo and what you explained there is the most helpful tutorial about this question for this aircraft. I'm new user of B737 ( used to fly Airbus ), and I discovered recently this aircraft who is really awesome.Tthe devs have made a good add-on and It would a pity not to use her plenty in XP11 with instructor like you ! Thank you ! I intend to go further in the XP skies with her ! ;)

      I’m glad you found it useful. The Zibo is a very realistic mod, I use it to practice for real world training and sim assessments all the time!

      @@Taylair I hope you will post more videos like this one ! but Is it possible for you to speak a little slower, I'm French and somtimes it is a little difficult for me to all understand ? ;) By the way, it is a good exercice to improve my English ! ;))

      Yes, I will make more 737 videos soon! I will try to slow down, I’ve had a few people say they are using the videos to practice English so I will keep it in mind.

      @@michelalpha4255 Hi Michel! If you have troubles to understand what Taylair is talking about, do as I do: select English subtitles at the bottom of the screen and also select a slower speed in the settings. For example, a speed of 0,75 with subtitles helps you to stay on the carts. I agree with you: this Taylair´s video is very good and it´s worth to watch many, many times. (I live in Finland.)

    Thanks for the upload. I made an attempt into EDDV with rnav, but the zibo mod would't folow a glide path under 3000. I will try this approach and try to figure out what the difference is.

    • @Taylair
      @Taylair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which runway were you trying at EDDV? Were you definitely in VNAV Path for the pitch mode?

      @@Taylair thanks for answering. 27R and once 27C. (according to landing report in simtoolkitpro. Not sure about vnav path, at that exact moment. Did lower mcp altitude to da, rounded to the nearest 100

    • @Taylair
      @Taylair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like you may not have had VNAV engaged. In order for the aircraft to follow the profile you have to select VNAV on the MCP, once flaps are selected, the aircraft will remain in VNAV Path once speed intervent is selected

    • @vdwaal
      @vdwaal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Taylair I'm sure vnav was engaged up to DV612, but I'm not sure on the vnav path indication. Will try to night.

    • @vdwaal
      @vdwaal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      landed perfectly on 09L. There was a speed issue, vnav spd indication. So next time I will try to slow down earlier, expecting vnav path to stay

    I cant make the vertical guidance (purple diamond) to appear in PFD on RNAV RNP approach using LNAV+VNAV or only LNAV in the default 737...

    • @Taylair
      @Taylair  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think the default 737 has the FMC functionality. You need to download the Zibo mod. It’s free.

    I'm still not sure I understand the behavior of the APP mode with regard to the RNAV approaches. In your video there's a moment where small red triangles on the PFD change to the empty diamonds, so technically if you hit APP the aircaft will just follow the profile just like an ILS approach. But you didn't do it and the aircraft still did follow the profile... That's a bit confusing. Still i'll try to not rely on the APP mode next time, may be it will go better. Many thanks for your time and work!!

    • @Taylair
      @Taylair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the RNAV approach that we are flying here is to LNAV/VNAV minimums which is a non-precision approach. The indications on the PFD are a representation of the VNAV path calculated by the aircraft, we then manage the altitude based on the normal barometric data. The APP mode will not engage to follow this guidance.
      If you have a look at my ILS approach tutorial here th-cam.com/video/DEtFIQ8LACw/w-d-xo.html you will see that the glideslope indications look slightly different on the PFD. This is a precision approach, following a path that is transmitted from radio aids on the ground making it more accurate to follow. APP mode can be used to follow this guidance down to ILS minimums for the category that you are using for that approach.

      @@Taylair Thank you for this reply. Leads me to another good round of googling. Turns out RNAV in LNAV/VNAV and RNAV flown with IAN in APP mode is not the same thing, so many thanks for this explanation. I'll be looking forward do your new tutorial videos. Cheers.
