My dad was also an Armor All guy. He Armor All'ed everything! He didn't have a garage where he lived so he would use my garage to work on the car. If he was there while I was at work I always knew it because when I got home, all my door knobs would be slippery. My dad passed away 21 years ago, but every once in a while I still notice that the door knob on my garage door is slippery. Makes me smile when that happens because it makes me feel like he's still around. Keep using that Armor All pop. 😊

That kit was tooled up in 1988..released in 1989. I have the ertl blue printer issues showing amt making this kit in a series of articles describing how a kit is created. That kit at that time was revolutionary and a game changer..one of the best... seems like yesterday ..it's weird to hear people refer to it as old..to me, it's still a new tool kit.

Got em for 40 bucks. They also had a lot of superrrrr old kits, too, including an AMT '57 T-Bird from the 60s-70s, packaging was in bad shape but it was mostly unassembled.

Chevrolet made a lot of cars with a model name and then a sub category name based on option and trim. Chevy II was a base model with the “Nova” being a step up. Then you had the SS. Some of the times the car would wear multiple badges which is kinda confusing. But really most car manufacturers did this practice. Using a base model and then adding new names with the addition on options. IE. Plymouth GTX, Roadrunner, Superbird all based on the same platform...

This is a really nice kit and yours looks great. I built this kit in the early 2000's and just recently added a couple more to my collection. Built mine similar to yours as in, what would I have done if I owned it. Also, on real cars, this is called a "day 2 build." This means, what did people do to the car on the second day after driving it off the showroom floor. Headers/exhaust, wheels/tires, shifters, Holley carbs etc were all popular day 2 changes.

From what Im aware of about the Chevy II is that the full size (Impala/Bel Air/Biscayne) were also known as Chevy Chevys, so the smaller was called the Chevy II or aka a Jr. Nova was originally a trim package like a Bel Air/etc. and in 68 is when Chevy II made the last appearance on the cars. (62-68 technically are the Chevy IIs but most just consider the Gen 1s (62-67) as Chevy II
(Also Nova translate to "no-go" or some variant of that)

The color turned out nice. But, a closeup showed the mica flakes to be out-of-scale for this size car. In other words, this paint job back in the day would be considered "metalflake", not so much a factory finish. So the question is, is MCW describing this as a metallic or a factory enamel. Thanks.

Are you familiar with him ?
    He's from Pittsburgh,PA.
He has a GREAT source for car badges/ emblem decals that look ALOT better then what anyone can paint on . I cannot find the DVD where he gives the website. I know the person who sells these water slide decals is from Canada. Matt, do you know the website,or any of your subs know ? Again, the difference is night and day when using a decal vs trying to precisely paint a Chevy emblem on a quarter panel. Thank you,Howard from Pa.

I used 2 whole bottles of the laquer on a Charger build... 2 WHOLE BOTTLES, and it still looks like it didnt cover the kit...i have like shadows of the primer coming through....I follow the directions to a T...still no luck...
