- This is a re-edited version of the Oaks' 1993 Family Channel concert special. The original airing re-ordered the songs for TV presentation; this puts the songs back in a more typical set list order for that time frame.
Some of these songs were edited for time - these were not my edits. I did have to cut some of the intro's off to remove announcer notes and commercial breaks, but I tried to make it as seamless as possible.

Say what you want about the Singin' Steve Sanders version of the ORB but he brought a lot of soul and energy to the group during his years along with some great songs. The ORB are my favorite country group of all time and doesn't matter if it is William Lee Golden or Steve Sanders filling the role the harmonies are amazing and would not trade in some of the hits they had with Steve like Lucky Moon, Gonna Take A Lotta River, and No Matter How High. Until this video I had never heard Stay With Me before and that seems like an under-rated ORB song now that should have been a big hit too.
I worked security at an Oak Ridge boys concert many years ago in Waco. I met all of the guys, but they most friendly and at going towards me was Steve. I shook his hand and we chatted for several minutes. I miss him.
My best friend from high school was the lead guitarist for about 24 years- Don Carr, rockin' those hilarious cow print pants. What a great band!

I liked the Oaks when Steve was in the band. He is missed.
I was out of the country and didn't find out about his death till mos. later. So sad as I have followed Steve since he was in his teens as a gospel singer. Amazing voice!

He absolutely throttles it. I remember when this aired on TV - I was a freshman in college and about fell out of my chair watching it in my dorm room when it sat on that A1 at the end. 💪💪

Steve why’d you have to let us go. 😢 The day I found out he killed himself I was extremely upset. It was like a ro model committing suicide. I wish would not have done it man. You could have gotten help. I’m still sad that you’ve left us all. God bless you and god bless the Oak Ridge Boys.

Yes, Steve was my favorite also. I adored him. When he died I felt so depressed. I wish he was still with us cause he had a lot of talent and could have done a lot of other great things in his life.

Thank you again so much for having this be up here, whenever I watch Steve sing "Thank God For Kids", I just want to put my arms around him and never let him go.

Can you believe that it has been 20 years now since Steve went forward? Yesterday was the day, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)

Steve was a much better lead singer. Such a great voice, and he could sing anything.
Steve wasn't the lead singer. Duane Allen sang lead. Without Duane Allen most people would have never heard of the Oak Ridge Boys. Not because the others were talented, but there is a lot more to what the Oaks did in the music industry than just singing. They were incredible. They filled a role in the industry that no one else ever will again. That is a huge accomplishment to say the very least. If you talked to any member of the group, they would agree. They call him the "ACE" for a reason.
It was a good day when Steve left them an the music got good again when William came back .I remember why they voted him out an that was a big mistake on there side he makes a big part of them 👍
Was Donnie Carr father a pianist for Oak Ridge Boys or was it a different Carr altogether?
Current keyboard player Ronnie Fairchild's Dad (Tommy) was a pianist for the ORB (1959-60; 1961-72)

Okay, the more that I watch Steve at the 29:16 mark of this clip, the more steamed it is that I become. Letting him walk out that door was the dumbest, most ridiculous, most stupid thing to have happen!!! (trying not to explode)

@@Banditz71 I have done just that and if what I have learned and gathered is all true, I am even more convinced now that EVERY made move was all wrong. I just pray so hard with every fiber of my being that the Lord forgave Steve for what his final move went on to be. What happens to everyone else, minus Janet and Sevren that is, I couldn't care less.

@@SweetHeartHolly1982 - Well, what you've "learned and gathered" is completely incorrect ..... Steve "walked out on them" just hours before a show ... they had to call Duane's son, Dee, to fly in at the last moment to fill in. So, there was NO "letting him walk out the door" .... HE left "them" high and dry. Sadly, he was dealing with lots of personal issues at the time..........
@@Banditz71 Steve walked out because there was no other choice since the other group members made it as clear as crystal glass that their #1 priority was their image and a good deal of them personal issues was due to the fact that Steve couldn't control how much inconsiderateness from other people in his life was put out there on full display. With friends and family like that, who the heck needs enemies?

@@Banditz71 it's too bad. Steve was so talented. If only he could get past his personal problems. I saw them at a fair in Wisconsin. They were awesome. Wish he was still here. Would be interesting to see what he would be doing now with his talent.
