      Did you think they could pop one out in two months????
      Two years from sitting down with the designers and yard management to completion seems to be the norm, unless you want something over 70 feet long. Then I think it would get very interesting.

      Hi @stefanolo2, have you sailed under Arctic ice conditions with your 370? I often watch Erik Aanderaa channel (NBJS No BS Just Sailing) who is a Norwegian sailor who often ventures with his fiberglass boat pretty far up North to Norway, the Faroe, Iceland and he made several Greenland attempts granted his boat is not made of aluminium. Now, I live in the Southern Hemisphere and I have seen videos of people sailing down to Antarctica but only after have their Bestevaer 66 was structurally reinforced so to gain 20% longitudinal strength I believe. Have you ever had this discussion or plan with Alubat? I am wondering if you really can do ice conditions with these boats "out of the box" so to speak or if it requires considerable upgrades to the construction. Your feedback is appreciated.

      @ Hi! Sorry for formulating my post in such an opaque manner. I don’t have the 370 yet. Still living in my Najad 343. Hopefully I will be financially able to order an Ovni 370 in a couple of years. Then I will discuss design options with the Alubat team. Thanks for your interesting questions and thoughts.

There is a lot to understand with route planning, setting up the boat etc but an ovni is more than capable of taking you through the north west passage. Thank you for a fantastic tour of the yard. Alubat is doing great things and being able to see them in action is a privilege. Can't wait to see the 490 though I'd opt for the standard (according to Alubat's page) diesel shaft drive. Shaft for the reasons discussed by Alubat's own Rob Poirier and diesel because I'm still a bit skeptical that hybrid electric motors are there yet in terms of providing enough power when under generator in an emergency.
    PS. Both pretty!

      @@constantinealexandrakis Frankly, to me, the Only Electric Propulsion that is ready for Market in the Marine Environment is either Nuclear Power or Gas Turbine Powered, and to me, the Foundation Renewable Enery Source is primarily going to be Ultra Clean Synthetic Energy Density Enhanced Diesel Furl from Plasma Gasification Waste to Energy with Syngas Production, followed closely by Ultra Clean Gasoline via the same Production Process. All at very low price, and which can Never Run Out, due to the Wide Range of Feedstocks that can be used. At 2018 prices, a complete Plant for Production cost about 16 million dollars US, from Westinghouse. The entire Electric Vehicle Market already seems to be Collapsing, as in China, after constant Lithium Fires and Explosions, Large numbers of Mercedes Quality EV'sare being Dumped Brand New and unused still in their Delivery Wrappers, and in the UK, Car Dealers have stopped taking them in as Trade insurance, as they just can't sell the things. This is going to be a hot topic I think over the next few years on how not just sailboats (which in their nature are a cleaner source of transport) but motor boats too. The best hybrid system so far has been on the Southern wind yachts and that's really just a copycat of the New York City buses, (old tech) I will always say if there is an option for a bigger engine for a boat take it because one day you will need it out in the ocean. Ah thanks, and we are glad you liked the video.

      @@SVTONICBoatWives Nothing is being helped by us barkingbup completely the Wrong Trees, when it comes to Climate, the Atmosphere and totally underestimating the importance of Our Atmosphere having a plentiful Surplus of CO2 Content (surprisingly looking to be emphasised by findings from Mars Atmosphere Research ). when watching the UK Parliament Science and Technology Committee discussions on what was clearly a Dekiberately attempted Fraudvtonextract Guge amounts of Public Money via "Ocean Acidification " I got more than a bit annoyed at the Deceptions and Lies to the Committe Taking place, so as a multi disciplined Engineer, Decided to try my hand at Science, following the rules ofvthe Scientific Method of Empiricism. So I produced a thoroughly Researched Study, complete with Links to Solidvevidence, including Photographic evidence from a Diving zCentre in the Red Sea, and other similar Sources, which if what was being presented to the Committee was correct, would be BarrennLifeless Wastelands of Dead Corals, instead of which of course, they arevteemingbwith Life and Healthy Corals. The Studybtook me about 10 evenings of my own time and my computer connected to the Internet, so I emailed it off. Turns out it so impressed the Committee, that the Chairman Requested, and received, my permission to Publish it . Result ? Ocean Acidification doesn't appear to have even been mentioned in Parliament Since. Very Large Problem ? The Evidence I found very clearly points to Our Oceans locking up Far Too Much CO2 Out of the Reach of Life and Biodiversity, which has Resulted in Our Atmosphere having a pretty zserious Shortage of CO2 Content. This is easily Confirmed, because the great majority of Plant Varieties are attempting to Compensate, by increasing water consumption, which is leaving themnweakened and Vulnerable to insect attacks and Plant Diseases. Only Desert Variety Plants are unaffected. So with Plants Badly affected, sonis Photosynthesis, and the lack of CO2 is seriously affecting the production of Oxygen in the form of Ozone so there is nothing likevenough Ozone being created to Repair the Oxone Layer Ptotective Shielding, which has been Seriously damaged by Solar Emmissions during particularly Active Solar Cycles, which have even seen Double Peaks in Sunspot Activity. Phew rest a bit, and new Paragraph
      How is "Net Zero " going to Affect this ? Bluntly, Very Badly, and likely resulting with a Seruous Shortage turning Critical. 😡
      How bad is it now? Well so much UV is getting through the Ozone Layer in the Northern Hemisphere, that around 60 % of the Arctic Circle Land Mass has the UV killing the Chlorophyll Content in Snow Algae, resulting in the Effect called Snow Bleeding or Watermelon Snow. But an initial indicator showed up, when in Mid December 2023 Sailing Atticus Spotted something I was waiting on, when they were Cruising the GreekmIslands, and they commented on spotting very unusual Purple Coloured Algae ! They didn't know the Significance, but it confirms that excessive UV Penetration has now reached the Mediterranean Latitudes, and it explains why in Mast Furling has become very important for Protecting Sailcloth from UV Damage which can 2reck it really Fast. Can all this be fixed ? Yep Really fast too, but we havecto Ditch all of the Fake, ideology driven Junk Science, and start producing a lot more CO2, mostly in the right places, and via Desalination and Drip Agriculture, start Farming Desertscthat are close to the Coastlines around the World just like Saudi Arabia is doing, and producing high quality Fruit and vegetables which it is now an exporter of. The Sahara would be relatively easy to do, would produce 6 harvests a year - feeding the World about 9 times over - and trees wouldcreach maturity there, in about 5 years - So plenty of Surplus Biomass which via Plasma Gasification with Syngas Production of Ultra Clean Liquid and Gas Fuels, wouldvprovide all of the energy needed by the Sahara Region, plus a useful Surplus. The Oxygen Balance in the Atmosphere would also be improved. However, we would have to watch that we don't overdonit, though we may well want to, as we could create a new Ice Age ? But that would mean vastvareas of Land becoming above Sea Level, which could getvrid of some Sailing areas to Cruise, but the Planet, Plants, and Biodiversity would be in Terrific Shape, and all we really have to do , is Ditch The Stupid ? Unfortunately, Stupid People appear to be seriously addicted, and determined to remain as Stupid as Possible, so right now, I suspect we are going to continue Barking up Completely the Wrong Trees. Sigh. 🤔 Things must Change. Bob.

    You tour a factory as well as you tour a boat! Outstanding! I learned a lot about how aluminum boats are built.
    Since you have reviewed the Allures 51.9 and the Garcia Exploration 52 in great detail, I would be curious as to how you see the design of the Ovni 490 comparing since you state that you believe it will be "the bench-mark for future blue water cruisers." Any idea when they will have one for you to tour? Also: tour the Grand Large (Allures/Garcia) factory next! And then Boreal! Vive le voilier en aluminium!

      The first 490 will be ready for us in the spring I believe maybe earlier, we have a sea trial of a 430 first and on the 5, of October I have another sea trial of a garcia 52. This time there will be no walk-through tour of the boat, as I want to highlight how easy the 52 is on manoeuvring, sailing and everything that makes a Garcia rock. Boreal has invited us to have a look, but it is just when. Not to give anything away but we have a sea trial of an Amel 60 coming up and maybe a factory tour there as well.

    Companies that choose their own path based on their own principles are becoming rarer by the day. Well done Alubat for sticking to what it believes in, and offering the customer more choice as a result. A proper swing keel too that retracts into the hull to allow the yacht to dry out, such a useful feature.
    I'm not sure aluminium construction (in general) makes a boat orca-proof though. For all its qualities it is a relatively soft material. Orcas have already disproven the theory that skeg hung rudders are bullet proof. Perhaps there's something to be said for making rudders sacrificial in order to preserve the intergity of the hull (assuming a spare/emergency rudder system is available)?

    • @SVTONICBoatWives
      @SVTONICBoatWives  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good point regarding the orcas, having been through the ordeal last year it's hard to say and I like to believe they are just playing or at least trying to get us to slow the fishing down, who knows. I like lifting keels or centre boards as it opens up your options not just for drying out but for getting into different spots too.

You should stop spraying at the end of a pass, before starting again on the next Spraying Pass. by keeping Spraying at the end of each passtheends get over sprayed, causing runs and extra paint build up. Press spray, pass end spray start spray pass end spray, is the correct technique. Me? I'd have had to show them. laughs. 😅 Don't worry, I have had to point out incorrect Slating to the Spanish natural Slating school, along with problems they hadn't appreciated with the problems with Hook Fixing Slates either, along with how to correctly fit the final top course of Slates Correctly. I even had to Design a Correct Copper Nail for Slate fixing, to replace the Copper Nails being used which guaranteed Nail Failure, and inevitable Roof Failure. As I admit, I'm a right old Fussy Pants. 😅 Nice look see - and if you rematch the Spraying, you should see what I'm on about. PPS. A Verification of the Mars Atmosphere Research Conclusions, are provided by Earth's Atmosphere 75 million years ago, at the time of the Dinosaurs, when the Atmosphere had a very abundant supply, and the intensity of Plant Growth and therefore Photosynthesis was simply staggering, just to be able to support very large numbers of simply massive Dinosaurs reaching Fully Grown Maturity in a very short time. Yet No Runaway Greenhouse Effect ? The extent to which we are being Lied To, and Deliberately So at that, is reattaching. Either Watson or Crick, the DNA guys - I can't be arsed to look it up at this hour - Said that Contrary to the Opinion of their Mother's, Most Scientists were just Stupid ? They forgot to add just how urrerly Corrupt they are as well. Frankly, Stalin would have had all of them shot for the damage they were doing to Real Science if he had known. Just like the EU, it committed slow Suicide in 2014 by taking interest Rates Negative, that Blew Up the EU in the September 2019 Repo Crisis, and now in 2024 (I got it wrong, I predicted its collapse would start in 2025 ) with every EU Bank, Financial institution and the ECB insolvent. the Collapse of the EU has now Started, and even the non Economist Garland Nixon - a nice guy - has spotted that the EU is Collapsing. This will make you split your sides laughing - Yet the British Political Establishment is doing its damndest to get Britain Back In ? 😀😀😀😀😀 All the Best, and maybe see you over the Rainbow. Bob. 👍🌟🌟🌟❤️
