    I am new to reefing… i am all set up and been running for a month got my first coral it had to be a little zoa frag… I love your tank with all its segmented gardens… All look big and fluffy and full of vibrant colour.. I hope i can get my tank looking as good as both of yours… keep up the excellent videos..🔥

    Hey guys. Why don't you do a podcast? Share some of your knowledge and wisdom, I'm sure your TH-cam audience will follow you and you can reach more reefers. There aren't a lot of good reef podcasts.... So throw your hats into the ring. The Zoa Tank Boyz Podcast

    WowZers... those are puffy as!
    Ok so they are Micromussa Lords (or Lords) - they used to call them acan lords ;) the smaller ones you have are micromussa Amakuensis. The Echinata is an Acan and all true acans sting the shit out of other corals ;)
    I have only seen christmassy colored Amakuensis over here - not those stunning corals. We can get those BigR micros you have but they are CRAZY expensive. I have more Echinata than Lords... I love them.

    what pipette are you using to feed the coral?

  • @fishstix1988
    @fishstix1988 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What feeding do you syringe do you use to feed them with? For my first tank, my goal is to have an all LPS tank and have huge acan gardens! Do you know how much par you keep the lower light acans at (just not shaded I assume)?

    • @ZoaTankBoyz
      @ZoaTankBoyz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feed reef roids a couple times month! I don’t know the par level I would assume around 80 but never measured!

    Acans never keep there color. They all turn red

    • @ZoaTankBoyz
      @ZoaTankBoyz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That does happen frequently!

    • @Dayvinho13
      @Dayvinho13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard this especially happens when they are kept in an area of the tank with too much par, I have also heard that the brighter the colour/more colours there are, the lower the par value should be. Ideally aiming for roughly 75.

    Your tanks are beautiful. Such exquisite pieces. You get all this growth just from the light alone, because it sounds like you don't feed very often. Phenomenal growth and color

    Stunning collection of fine specimens! I have been most conservative with my Acan Lordhowensis/ Lords micromussa selections. Like Zoanthids they color varieties seem endless. I currently own Orange and blues. Two polyps that have quickly become five. Doing wonderfully and ready to add another when I find a yellow or rainbow I like. That WWC rainbow you snagged recently is amazing. I hope to find that particular variety someday for my own tank.
    I too find that size of the polyp is correlated to flow most along with the proper lighting. Of course, it helps if they are already healthy specimens. Mine would nearly double in size when the flow was off for feedings. So I moved him a bit and ever since has been staying nice and pumped up.
    Even with all the fancy testing equipment... We need to listen to the Coral as our number one input for decision making. If you measure those essentials as often as you're able you will better know what that coral is trying to tell you. Those tests help you to understand the Corals language and what it is trying to tell you. Being able to test everything if something seems to change or appears to be worse off. Those measurements are only helpful if you have something to compare them to. Like last week's results or from a few days ago. If you see something wrong and take a bunch of tests for the first time. You might find that certain parameters are off. However, you will not know how long they have been off and if it was recent or the long-term effect of those parameters being incorrect.
