Gaahl's voice is hugely versatile flexible and picturesque in the way he floats easily through this. It's like his voice is in the air all around with no specific point of origin. His voice is the atmosphere. Nobody will ever be able to do a cover of this song and hit the same feeling that Gaahl placed in this.
Excellent observation. I have become a fan of all things Gaahl over the last several months, and have noticed how he morphs according to the atmosphere of the song. A true artist and metal icon.
Gaahl is one of the very few black metal artists who has truly earned the title of an Artist. The more I listen to this the more it is absorbed into my soul. Immensely beautiful this piece of music. Like Pachelbel's Canon and Toccata en Fugue together. This man I have to meet before I die and thank him for this work of art.

Gaahl's more atmospheric music is more drawn to me than Gorgoroth. But that music still has a place. These 2 records are very Soothingly eerie that they are played twice a month.
This is very fresh sounding. The bass is clear and impactful, the guitar tone is atmospheric and brooding, and the vocals are excellent. I hope this direction is what more bands move towards, away from over-compressed tones and insanely triggered drums.

Shea Re'lar I think that even if he'd put out his farts to the sounds of electric distortion and blast beats, you would think it's genius. Long live Infernus and the true Gorgoroth! I'm being proud of being on opposite side of that spectrum.
I never imagined galhhs singing only screaming but this man sure does like making songs about carving

@@gmanthatguy3937 I agree. I like the folklore and his different ways of sounding. Really impressive. I started with "Witching Hour"
