- The newly retracked and re profiled Beast at Kings Island !
Please give this video a like, comment, and share ? It helps motivate me to keep doing this. Hopefully a West coast trip will happen sometime at the beginning of next year.
Rode it the first year it opened in 1979 when I was 9. Still great after all these years.
Had season passes to Kings Island every year growing up, can't believe ol' Beast is still going! I remember watching them build Son of Beast.....it was insane as a kid seeing how massive that coaster was.
RCCA IS The Corner Cutter on Son Of Beast.
I wish it would have gotten RMCed
And still a world record holder...twice
YES! That era where the son of beast was at the park reminds me of growing up there with my cousins. Being absolutely terrified of a WOODEN loop
KI is my home park. Something classic about The Beast and it just doesn't really get old. The finale is still a great experience and there's a lot of fun to be had just enjoying it for what it is
I don't care if people say it's boring, it's not about intensity (Though that double helix is awesome), it's about whizzing through the forest, running from the beast, nothing around you but the trees and your fellow riders... and when it's dark... that's when the fun begins
Anyone who says the beast is boring either never rode it in their life, or are a spoiled 17 year old who grew up with season passes and rode it at least 50 times each summer since the day they were 48” tall.
@@kerrywsmyth Even still I wish I lived that close so i can ride it more
You’re not gonna get very far running from The Beast with those trim brakes.
They're using less trim brake now, but I just wish they'd let her fly through the woods like they used to. maybe now since they rebuilt alot of her they will
Holy cow what a long coaster!! The first lift hill, from the train’s perspective, looks almost identical to Grizzly!! Even the landscape! Can’t wait for Grizzly to finish being restored by the Gravity Group!!
I remember the first time I rode The Beast. I ducked my head down as far as I could when I went into the first tunnel. It looks like it’s going to take your head off if you don’t.
I bought a BEAST hat and keychain at the souvenir shop.
Rides The Beast during the day: eh that was alright I guess, pretty mild
Beast at night: L E G E N D A R Y
i can't wait to be able to do that 😭 we went today for the first time in almost five years, and i rode it for the first time ever, and i'm so excited for whenever i might be able to do that!
@@penguin_evere at night, with the trims turned off, is quite the experience haha
kings island would have been my home park
Your videos always have a clarity that captures the coaster experience better than others on YT. Nicely done as always. Here's some wild thinking... perhaps the retrack is part of a much larger project to reprofile the entire ride to allow it to run brakeless. Would that be too similar to Mystic? Or would that just be too awesome not to do? One can dream, right? LOL
In theory, this sounds like a good idea, but I don’t think the park would do this. Considering that wood coasters tend to beat up their track a lot over the years, it would make the coaster need more retracking over the years
@patrickfraleyjr2819 I apologize...i.meant that with the precut track that was installed a couple years ago would it be farfetched to think they would do.a complete overhaul of the ride with the precut track....not with traditional track as, like you said, would be subject to standard weather and tear
Best ride ever. Grew up with this monster
The beast taught me that I needed a better bra lol
I first rode it in 1998 and I was fainting! Amazing ride. I went there last month after 22 years and sadly it was closed because the park was waiting on a part!!! :(
Literally my favorite ride at kings island!!!!!
I have never rode the beast but next time I go to kings island I'm gonna get on it. EDIT: GUYS ITS SO FUN
is it a smooth ride nowadays? i rode it back in 2014 and it was pretty rough.
@@SoloBird859 yes its very smooth, the tunnels are a little rough but smooth at the same time.
it got retracked in 2022
@@SoloBird859no..take about 47 advil before you get on
Me too next year. I chickened out three times but I will next year.
WOW< they really slowed that thing down compared to its heyday
Debatable. Slower in some spots (out of the first drop) faster in other spots (into the helix tunnel)
For what it's worth I've only been riding it since the early 90s. But I think I've ridden it every year since 1991 when I was first tall enough. My perspective as a child is that it was way faster and way bigger but that's a kids view. My memory from the early 2000s said it was slower then with the original breaking systems slowed it down more than they do now
Welcome to The Beast. Remain seated throughout the entire ride. Please keep hands and legs inside the car at all times. Thank you.
Imagine being so peak you outlived your “successor”
baller ride at night esp front row
Love me a night ride on The Beast.
James you are awesome! Top Thrill Dragster will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year! I think it will reopen cuz I’ve been doing research.
Hey bud, I appreciate you, but try not to spread rumors you don’t fully know. People thought Kumba was closing but that was proven false.
I hope it reopens !
And that remark about dragster didnt age well. A new version opens next year
@@CMH-aviation At least they aren’t tearing the whole thing down because it’s an important part of Cedar Point’s history
hey bro im going to kings island in the next 2 weeks so im wondering what do you use to record on the rides
Most people use GoPro
Some use chest cams too
I wish they would camaouflage that stainless steel fence and that road. It really ruins the "out in the middle of nowhere" effect.
I’ve never been on this, but I think I’m gonna try it next time I go. 😅
When i went for the first time in 2017 i didnt like it because it was so rough. Tried it again last year after the re track and i enjoy it alot more.
Was that some new wood
Yeah they did a lot of track work over the off season last year
This makes the ride smoother.
How rough?! 😂
Surprisingly not too rough. The best wooden roller coaster that I have been on.
It’s not terrible if your in the front, but personally anything after row 8 gives me a headache
@@reginaldhampton3451 King's island is our home park and the beast iconic, but take the 3 hr trip from Cincy to holiday world and ride the voyage. It's the best woodie out there and makes the beast look like a kiddie coaster.
The retrack doesn’t make it that rough
@@tractorgt keep your mid opinions to yourself
Did they change the seat belt things?
Son of beast was dope as well.
Couldn't tell it was retracted with that shaky camera work 😆
Just because it got a little work done doesn’t mean it’s less violent lol
Super geweldig is dit
Best coaster ever made
ride is soooo good now, too many trim brakes tho :(
Imagine goin through that tunnel and a whole nest of rattlesnakes fell into yer car…..

Slowest lift hill I've ever seen
It got faster in the second half of the lift too, which confused me.
Was the operator slowing the lift down until people listened to him about keeping their arms and hands in or something?
@@thepsychobear2362 the chainlift is slow because they have to wait till the other train is done with the helixes
El Toro Ryan:
For those of you who aren't familiar a block zone is a
You’ve clearly never been on the bat then have you-? It takes FOREVER to get to the top of the lift hill on it but it’s 100% worth it
The ride has two lift hills, train #1 has to clear the 2nd lift hill before train #2 can complete the 1st lift hill. This practice keeps the trains from stacking
