Does the hatching line spacing have to match the split line size all the time? I'm just trying to set I'm up and get the programing down. you stated that and I wanted to know. Plus the settings in the Canfig screen are very different from what I have. How did you come up with them? Min Max Coor, Min Max Speed, ,,,, Thank you.
To avoid having lines in your art, yes the split size should match the hatch spacing. The values you see for min/max are just numbers I was playing with. I kept everything pretty low because I hadn't yet bolted the rotary down to anything when I made the video.
I just got my 30w Laser last week from Aliexpres. Thank you for your videos and really appreciate the time you take to make these educational vids for our laser. I installed the rotary assembly and been testing it out to engrave powder coated cups. I'm having issues with ghosting where for example my diameter is 84.5mm and my split is set for 5mm and hatch to the Spiral setting at 0.5mm spacing. What happens to my logo that is about 75mm x 75mm ring (5mm thick) w/ txt Enveloped inside, while its engraving lest say the 3rd split/5mm section, the laser goes out and burns up to the 10th split ring therefore being distorted because its not focused or rotated yet to that area. I notice this happening more when I use the spiral and less often when just using the Straight line 0deg Hatch. I'm at v2.14.10 Ezcad. This laser has messed up 3 good cups already.
I am thinking about adding a rotary to my laser, I just bought a 30w fiber laser and it will come in the next couple days. I'm excited to start playing with it
Hi I just added new rotary to my system and had no luck setting parameters not all options work properly. Do you have a blog I can follow screen shots.
Jeffery J, question, please. Are there any consumables that one needs to consider in the purchase and maintenance of a fiber laser, like the k40 bulb needs to be replaced? Big ticket items that is? Thanks for sharing all your vides they have really impacted my decision to purchase a laser.
I am waiting for few more videos of using rotary so i can understand the setting. I am learning a lot from your video. Keep it up and thanks for making.
Thanks for sharing all of this info. Your channel is a lifesaver. Have you seen any aftermarket fiber laser options? I’d like to add a power z axis or even a galvo camera. It would be great to co-witness my fiber with a camera for easy alignment.
I haven't looked into adding a camera, but if you check out Lightobject or places on Aliexpress like Rock Solid Laser or Cloud Ray, they often sell parts and accessories for fiber.
Love your videos Jeffery! I just got a 50W Fiber laser and have Ezcad2 set up. When I power up the laser everything works fine, I create a shape or Text on Ezcad and when I light it I can see it (even though it's kind of blurry) but whenever I click 'Mark" it just loads for a second and then goes away. When I click 'continuous mark' it makes a louder noise like it's trying to mark it but really the red light is just flashing the shape on the metal and that's it. I've tried raising and lowering the laser to focus it but it still isn't actually marking the material. Please help and thank you for any tips!
Few questions: I assume you set the marking mode to 'continuous' and ran the Z axis all the way up and down to find the correct focal length at the loudest point? After that, when you set your text on the ezcad workspace, did you apply a hatch to your object so the laser is filling in your text and not just marking the text outline? That might be why the 'mark' screen loads and disappears so quickly.
Hello Thank you for the videos I find them very helpful Had a question since there already was a port for rotary in back of the machine Why it was Necessary to install a support device?
The stepper drive was necessary as it wasn't included with my machine. Some people may have it already with theirs. If you're referring to the 24v power supply outside the machine, this wasn't necessary - it was just something I added to play with the rotary settings without powering up the laser source.
I purchased a BJJCZ fiver laser with rotary and cannot get the text to scale properly. I do not understand the different rotary options. Split2, rotary tect, etcL: Do you have any tips for me to get this thing working? I am doing table engraving fine. Thanks for the content you put out! Jeff question Im getting overlap on the slices when the part spins. Where can I look to resolve this? I have checked all of the timing and such and everything looks good if its flat.
Thanks for sharing. I have the same connection as you but the rotary does not move. I have checked the cables. I have seen that there are like two types of the same board. What are the differences in the serial number? The sticker comes with an A Do you have an A?
Thanks for the video. I'm looking at getting a rotary as well, same size also. How would it work with a 30 or 30 oz tumbler? I was wondering if it would be too big.
I'm in the UK and am going through your TH-cam channel vids. Thank you for posting such informative content. Do you recommend the SFX machine that you have even after a year or so of uploading your videos? Also I'm looking for a machine that can deal with the arced 'faceplate' surface/s of medical ID bracelets. Would you recommend the machine you use in your videos for this or, would this only really be suitable for totally flat materials?
Hi,At this time, it is necessary to investigate the source of the interference effect of the external power grid fluctuation on the galvanometer. You can try whether the lines scanned by the indicator light are wavy lines when the laser power driver is not turned on. After confirming that there is no interference in the preceding steps, start the laser power supply first to see if the wave phenomenon occurs. Then gradually increase the output power of the laser power supply and observe the traced lines. Finally, turn on the acousto-optical drive and observe it. It is basically possible to determine where the interference comes from at which step the wave phenomenon occurs. After finding the source of the interference, come to think of a solution to the interference.
Hi Jeffery. I just finished installing the rotary with the help of this video. It is correctly installed, but I cannot seem to find the correct way to engrave. May you point me on the right direction? A one minute tutorial about how to engrave a simple tumbler.

hi, great video. I have a question, have you ever encountered that when you mark using a rotary, the results are like there is a pile or stretch. where can you fix this?? Thankyou
I tried to follow your setup parameters and my gear reduction is 20 teeth on the servo and 50 teeth on the gear driving the chuck but I fall about a centimeter short when I do a test rotation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Really quick question, my rotary only has a 4 pin connection . 1-4 pins can anyone point me to the direction of how to set that pin set up and if it required the 5volts ??
Can you do another video showing how to use the rotary? I want to mark a set of dials for a surface grinder (mine are difficult to read due to wear and very fine engraving).
Just wondering my machine has the stepper driver already installed but the pin setup is 3 pins. I can get a rotary axes off Ebay but it has a 4 pin setup. Why the difference?
You may have a different stepper drive. Open the case and trace the pins back to find out where the wires connect. I've seen lasers pre wired wth 4 pins on the back of the case which corresponded to the 4 motor wires. In that case, the stepper was already installed.
@@jefferyj Yes, I found out it is set up for a 3 phase stepper motor. I got a 3phase motor nema 23 which I plan on swapping out the 2phase that comes with the rotary axes. In setting up the motor in ezcad2, i saw that you made the steps to 12800. Mine says it is set to 10000 on the driver but, the lettering comes out stumpy so I did some adjustments and set it to 45000 and it looks just like what I see on the computer. Not sure if its ok to do that or if it will shorten the motor life. Like to hear your opinion.
I'm curious... With a rotary axis, can you only do completely round objects? Or, for example, can you put a flask in the chuck (which is usually a wide curved surface but not actually round) and mark on the curved face?
I haven't tried yet, but I'd imagine as long as the dimensions were entered correctly, it wouldn't be an issue. That said, it would probably be faster and more reliable to mark something like a flask with a 300x300 lens that can handle a little curvature.
Ive done this at work, its really simple once you have programmed all the variables, you just set the diameter of the place on the flask youre marking, a caliper is a must when youre working with a rotary chuck btw.
Hi Jeffery, great tutorial as always. I watched this after noticing my rotary only goes in one direction, (so it doesn't return to home). And wondered if there was an issue with the wiring to the control board. But my Rotary only has 4 wires coming from it not 5 so could that account for the single direction of the unit? Many thanks in advance. Bobby
Hi Jeffery, I have one question and don't know personally anybody who can answer this. I recently aquired a 30watts fiber laser similar to yours, with a raycus laser source. In the specification of the laser says that 30 watts laser can't go lower than 30khz, but mine can go down to 20khz with ezcad, so I suspect it's actually a 20 watts laser. Can your 30watts laser work with 20khz or is locked to 30khz?? Thanks a lot.
Often, ezcad will let you enter numbers that your hardware can't use. You can restrict this range in the parameters menu. It doesn't necessarily mean anything's amiss. If you open your case, you should be able to see the specs of your laser source to confirm it's a 30w.
@@jefferyj thx for the answer, I opened the outer case the day it came but the label with the watts was not there or perhaps was in the hidden side. The thing is that in the raycus datasheet they tell that a signal below 30khz as input is not allowed, but with my machine the 20khz is the strongest lasing I can do by far. Perhaps I should limit to 30khz in ezcad if the laser is really 30watts, as pulses with more than one 1 mJul can be dangerous for the mirrors too. Can you confirm me that you can lase with 20Khz with your 30w machine?? Thx a lot
@@eid0eid0 My machine is actually a 20w. Your laser probably has an internal governor so you cannot damage it with software settings. Have you checked out the fiber facebook groups? Lots of good info there: Fiber Laser Engraving Talk and Tech facebook.com/groups/547620632495173 EZCAD2 Users Forum (good general ezcad group) facebook.com/groups/300139820848489/
Jeffery, I'm stumped at the moment, I ordered a 4 wire rotary chuck thinking they were all kinda universal. Turns out my laser, a 30w raycus, has only a 3 wire connector on the back which I'm guessing is for a 3 phase rotary. I'm not even sure if I can wire it up correctly. I purchased the laser new from ebay a few weeks ago. I'm at a loss at the moment, with no response from the sellers. Any help would be awesome. Great informative videos, keep em coming.
Hello Jeffrey! Why the rotary stretches the logo on a ring? 💦 I tried different Ezcad operations (Ring Text Mark; Rotate Text Mark; Split Mark2) but they don't give me a straight result. 💦 💦 I activate the rotary with ↑ ↓ arrows in Split Mark and the device works (rotates). However, when it comes to the ring engraving, the rotary doesn’t rotate at all. 💦 💦 💦 I entered Part Diameter and other numbers as in a youtube tutorial, but pointless. 💦 💦 💦 💦 What is wrong? Did I connect the rotary to the laser (30W) somehow wrong... or is my mistake in Ezcad?
Is it possible that I by mistake connected PUL- and DIR- incorrectly? Would the rotary even spin if PUL- and DIR- is mixed up? At the moment it spins but leaves gaps or spins too much.
Quick question, I finally got my chuck and can't get it to spin. When I check the CON4 on the board with my ohm reader, no signal is being sent. Anyone else having this issue ?
@@jefferyj I was able to get some help from my Chinese vendor but BJJCZ now says since my card has an M on it, mine doesn't have full features. Does yours have an M on it after FIBER?
Just wondering if you know anyone who changed the laser source. I got a feeling my source went bad. The laser lost power and within a minute or two it went out. I got refunded by the seller and I still have the machine. So I'd like to buy a 30w fiber laser source and install it. I've checked the power source and that seems ok. Got a new board and that did nothing so I'm thinking it's the laser source itself.
So you have an extra broken machine lying around? Not a bad deal. I'm assuming you checked all the basics like switches and the PSUs. I don't know anyone who has changed the source, but maybe you can purchase the least expensive 20w source you can find to swap in just for experimentation.
Hello sir! Im clarence from texas . I bought this laser about 2 week ago and im loving it , but there's a few things i need help with. Like when I engage my rotary light or mark I can't get it to stop. Thats the main one. Please help!😊😊

Have you ever had this pop up on the screen: IPG laser system error ? Received my laser last week, set it up, I was adjusting the lens to focus and this popped up 🤦♀️
Yeah it happens occasionally. Restart ezcad - if that doesn't work, power off the laser completely and then restart ezcad. Supposely it happens if there is a loose connection somewhere, but I've never found one.
Hey Jeffrey thanks for the vids. very well done. Concise, accurate no bs and most importantly, NO INTRO, a waste of time. A ? if you will, I have a 30w fiber rice burner that does pretty good but seems most things I would like to work on are bigger than the field area. I looked through your vids hoping to find one showing how to continue a mark on a large piece. I haven't had much luck continuing a hatch without a definitive line showing at the "joint". Excuse my ignorance if its a simple process but is there a way to possibly "fade" a continued hatch? maybe a setting that would suffice? any help would be appreciated. You are my 2nd subscription since the birth of youtube. Thank you for your time.
Hello sir, first many thanks for your videos, I have question for you, I have fiber marking machine 20w GWEIKE, could you please tell me what's the consumable of this machine (like co2 laser tube for co2 laser machine) if there's not consumable, what's time life of laser (Reci)? Best regards
We do vectors on the rotary all the time to make precision measuring dials. Using Splitmark2 from under the laser menu has given us the best results so far. We use the bidirectional hatch and set the split size to .05mm for our purposes. With these settings we can get clear readable text in our vectors down to 1.3mm in height. There are probably other ways to get a similar result but this way works for us

Where did you go and when are you coming back? These videos are really good for beginners. hope to see you back soon
Check the link in the video description...you can follow Peter's walkthrough there.
i followed your video but EZCAD doesnt show the "Laser" on the top menu setting? anyhelp?
Thanks!! I just bought one and could not figure it out. Lol. You are the best. I have the same machine and learned how to use it from your videos. 😎
Hello
Thank you for the videos I find them very helpful
Had a question since there already was a port for rotary in back of the machine
Why it was Necessary to install a support device?

Hey Jeffery, when I engrave text my text comes wavy when I want it straight, do you know how I could fix the problem? my metal is flat.

This fiber laser rotary basics video th-cam.com/video/Xj4_1g9--Uk/w-d-xo.html in the fiber laser group might be helpful facebook.com/groups/440091022989424/
my rotary only has for pins instead of 5 on the connection. can i still connect all this with that one missing pin?
Would you suggest only going with a Raycus laser power supply? There are a few available with a different brand.
You still around, bro? Haven't uploaded in awhile.
hi, great video.
Hi, if I would like to mark a round part (40mm in diameter) with patent numbers which occupy less than 15 degrees, do we actually need a rotary axis
Mine has a 5 pin on the back like yours. But my rotary has 4 pins. Its a different rotary than yours. Will something like this work?
The 4 pins of the rotary are probably leading to the two coils of your motor. This sounds like the same setup I have.
@@jefferyj can i just buy a 5 to 4 pin adaptor to make it work or do i have to rewire everything?
Quick question,, my rotary doesn’t return to the original position,, is there any setting for that ,,, I have a 30w fiber laser machine, thanks 🙏🏼
Hey,
My rotary doesnt come back to the starting position, it overlaps the marking when i repeat it. Could you help me regarding this issue?
Where did you go?
I'm curious... With a rotary axis, can you only do completely round objects? Or, for example, can you put a flask in the chuck (which is usually a wide curved surface but not actually round) and mark on the curved face?
I haven't tried yet, but I'd imagine as long as the dimensions were entered correctly, it wouldn't be an issue. That said, it would probably be faster and more reliable to mark something like a flask with a 300x300 lens that can handle a little curvature.
yes ,sure dear th-cam.com/video/NQ2Ia4CMz9w/w-d-xo.html
Ive done this at work, its really simple once you have programmed all the variables, you just set the diameter of the place on the flask youre marking, a caliper is a must when youre working with a rotary chuck btw.
Do you have wood carving settings? When I run over the wood it burns and the writing is not clear😢😢
Lots of good info there:

Jeffery, I'm stumped at the moment, I ordered a 4 wire rotary chuck thinking they were all kinda universal. Turns out my laser, a 30w raycus, has only a 3 wire connector on the back which I'm guessing is for a 3 phase rotary. I'm not even sure if I can wire it up correctly. I purchased the laser new from ebay a few weeks ago. I'm at a loss at the moment, with no response from the sellers. Any help would be awesome. Great informative videos, keep em coming.
What is your lens? I have a 20W with a 175x175 and can't get black marks on aluminum, I've watch all of your videos but can't rember if you have said.
Mine is 150x150.
Hi, thanks for your vídeo. I've a ezcad lite and i havent plugin rotary. Can you share your software and driver? Thanks
Quick question, I finally got my chuck and can't get it to spin. When I check the CON4 on the board with my ohm reader, no signal is being sent. Anyone else having this issue ?
I couldn't get mine to spin either initially. I wasn't getting 5v from the jcz board to the stepper drive. Check out the diagram at 6:21 in the video.
I don't know anyone who has changed the source, but maybe you can purchase the least expensive 20w source you can find to swap in just for experimentation.

what kind of file image is best for rotary? I have a logo and text that i'm testing on my rotary but only prints the txt.
Vector files are best for the laser.
@@jefferyj thanks so much, I'll try that. Hope it's nothing serious, would hate to have to send it all the way back to China...
Best regards
They quote something like 100k hour expected life, but it's hard to say.
How big of objects can this hold?
Have you been able to successfully do vectors on a rotary Mark?
We do vectors on the rotary all the time to make precision measuring dials. Using Splitmark2 from under the laser menu has given us the best results so far. We use the bidirectional hatch and set the split size to .05mm for our purposes. With these settings we can get clear readable text in our vectors down to 1.3mm in height. There are probably other ways to get a similar result but this way works for us
I am not able to print with the rotary , can you help me out with the settings
