thank you for this tutorial I use openshot so today I was scrolling through youtube and then I thought how to do voice over and then I searched it on youtube and then I saw your video and understood thank you
this is what i'm having to do, since openshot works best out of the ones i tried, i'm mostly gonna be narrating, talking etc, and then after words imma stick the audio in over the video, honestly, it's the best editor for free out their in my opinion, good video dude
Use a clapper board .. more accurate than clapping.. 5 seconds before... align tracks with audio in waveform then remove everything before video starts...
Simple 'hack' and can't believe I did not think of this. Appreciate you sharing this tip. I was not completely sure if Openshot had the voice over option and you also confirmed it does not.
Thank you. Why use OpenShot as a video player? Start the recording in Audacity. Use a video player like VLC to play the video, start talking. Audacity records your audio. Edit it. After exporting it to .wav file, add it to your project in OpenShot.
Hey thanks for this video, I have a problem tho, whenever I add voice over + music I can hear this cracking sound, I don’t know why, are you familiar with this problem?
Sure thing and in terms of cracking audio, do you experience this on every project? If so then it might have something to do with how Openshot works on your machine but if it's only on this situation, maybe look at the clips you're using.
Hey thanks for the tutorial - made my video editing today much simpler! I figured out how to sync the video and audio perfectly too. Use a makeshift clapperboard: start recording in audacity, then start playing the clip in openshot. When it gets to the clip you want to narrate, clap your hands or make a noise and then start your narration. Once you finished recording, find the start of the clap in audacity and delete to the start of recording, then use "generate silence" to hide the clap itself. You can also use this to tidy up any background noise when your not talking. Now sound will line up perfectly when you import it alongside your clip.
Use the clapper board .. more accurate than clapping.. 5 seconds before... align tracks with audio in waveform then remove everything before video starts....
You geeks make this too complicated. I record my video clip and place it on open shot. My Open Shot defaults to track 5, which is no big deal. Now while I'm watching the video I connect an external mic to the camera, place the camera, or phone lens down on the desk so video shows. Now start recording and narrate as you watch your video on Open Shot. When you stop narrating, label your blank video with the audio portion and save it. Now you have an mp4 audio track. Drop it in track 6 of your Open shot. Now track 5 &6 will play together. Save it and export it to yourself and you have a narrated video in mp4 format.
i am facing a problem while doin voiceover. the audio dropsout at the end or some times the end part of audio file may be 2 or 3 seconds duration gets trimmed automatically. how do i fix this
In audacity my audio sound normal but when I put it into open shot it sounds like I'm a little kid idk what to do I sound fine when I open it up in documents but in open shot I sound like a kid please help
But there is no such option called 'always on top'... Audacity contains only minimize, maximize, close and restore option. I couldn't able to find out that option. Pls hlp me sir
I've had to do each manually but if there's a better way to do multiple at once, then I might make a video on that.

@@GeekoutdoorsBrand okay please do one because I just now started using openshot and I kinda getting a hold of it but whenever I want to voice over I have to export the video (render)and the voice over it then go back to openshot and add the video remove the video and only add audio and then export it to youtube please find a easy way
Unfortunately as you can probably tell, Openshot doesn't have the best audio editing features. You'll most likely have to use a separate audio editor like Audacity or do this in another video editor.
Linux or Windows i Use Active Presenter Free version which allows me to narrate. Or i could just use my iphone or iPad and iMovie, and do everything in one app, wthout 'workarounds' (long winded unattractive approaches) and simply narrrate in real time over the video, in high quality aac 48,000 kbps sound and 4K video export.. the sound is ten times clearer than yours or most microphones in windows
It's exactly how I used to do a voiceover!!! But it's a great reminder video. Good on you for posting!!
Niiice 😁
Perfect solution! I have both programs so now I can work it out. Thank, I appreciate this video.

I think for most beginners, Openshot is easy to use and hopefully in the future, they'll built-in audio recording and simple audio editing.
I'm going to try this approach
Thank You This has been very helpful I,m Just busy trying to make mu first TH-cam video
Congratulations on your first video and happy this helped you!
Thanks for sharing....this is very helpful.

Glad it helped!
for some reason everytime i search for an openshot tutorial then geekoutdoors is always top on the list
🤔Hmmm...
Thanks for posting this! I'm just curious... the recording sounds like you're in a bubble. Is that because its playing in the background of the video?
Sure thing! It's mainly my mic, which are some earphones with mic, and also my room setup.
@@GeekoutdoorsBrand Thanks!
Great, thank you very much for posting this, very clear, down to the point !
This is just what I was looking for!

Ahhh yes clapperboard much like what movies use. Great idea to have a sense of where to start.

Nice video. How do I get the barrel affect go away. Is it a function of a cheap mike?
Probably my overall setup including sound dampening.

Not sure Phillip maybe try to put this audio in another video editor and see if you have the same issue.
Thanks, this is really helpful
Glad it helped!
Which window you use sir my audacity not show always on top option
?
How to open two software in single window at same time
Openshot seems to play my video slowly, so I exported the silent version and used media player (windoze) to play it while recording with Audacity.
Thx for the tip!
Thx for the advice.
vidoe AND background music PLUS audio on different tracks?
I'd try adding those as separate tracks in your project timeline.
Thank you!
You're most welcome Anna!
But there is no such option called 'always on top'... Audacity contains only minimize, maximize, close and restore option. I couldn't able to find out that option. Pls hlp me sir
Ohhh I'm using this on Linux so maybe there's not an Always on Top option on Windows/Mac
Thanks man, also, looking at the comments, do you respond to every comment? If you so, mad respect,
You're very welcome and I try to respond to comments when possible.
Thanks a ton
No problem Amey glad this helped you!
Your recording had a barrel affect. How do you get rid of this?
You can try to use noise reduction filters in Audacity but if the environment, equipment isn't ideal, then hard to "fix."
but what if you have multiple clips???
I've had to do each manually but if there's a better way to do multiple at once, then I might make a video on that.

What do you use to edit
Mostly Davinci Resolve and Kdenlive/Shotcut.
