Thank you! I was actually wanting to learn if there is an easy way to do a talk over a video in OpenShot. Yet I learned new things about how to edit music into my videos. Thank you. As I've mentioned before, I love how you talk slowly and clearly. Thank you.
That is an important point YOU mention. Use advanced mode to view audio. I've been editing videos for 40 years and as I left home without any real computers I downloaded this openshot application and so far it seems to work but editing audio and cutting video frame for frame seems unavailable so far - no doubt it is possible but google answers suggested using Audacity but that seems like a complicated method, exporting and then reimporting so hope that an answer appears soon. I see lots of "professional videos" in youtube and they have lots of errors such a flashframes and get the impression that kids using editors just don't know nor even see that they are producing errors. So I may have to go back to something that works from twenty years ago.....
I am new to editing of any kind and have been playing with OpenShot for a week now (mostly by watching your tutorials). So here's where I'm at: 1) I took 4 video clips and sliced them to where I wanted; 2) Added a still slide; 3) FF each of the 4 video clips clips X8; 4) Rendered the track and made an MP4 file (video plays as I want); 5) Started a "New Project" and placed previous rendered video on track 5 (Enable Audio set to "Auto" / Volume set to "0.00"); 6) Added MP3 Audio clip to track 4 and sliced audio to same size as video (Enable Audio set to "Auto" / Volume set to "1.00") ; 7) Video and Audio plays fine in preview; 8) After exporting, only the video plays and there is no audio. Note: Also tried setting Video Clip on track 5 to "off" ... same result. Can you help?
Thanks! You solved a problem I was having where I had stripped the audio from one clip and the video from another, then I was trying to merge the remaining video and audio. Unfortunately, the audio-only clip was adding a black bar to the video-only clip. The clue was where you said that two clips in the same track causes problems. It seems that where an audio clip snaps to either edge of a video clip (even in a different track) I was getting the black vertical bar on the video. I simply adjusted the length of the video clip so it was longer, and audio clip was then in the middle of the video clip and not snapped to either side. Thanks for the clue that solved the problem!
For some reason I can't get rid of the audio album cover picture in the screen, it is blocking the other clip's video/movie. Is there a way to fix this?

No one can be bothered to tell you that you can't change audio - Final Cut Pro is the last decent application I worked with and so this is perhaps more micky mouse stuff for kids who just don't even think of wanting to adjust the volume of the audio in different parts. Audio is either on your video or it is not - you can't adjust the audio with a fade in or fade out.

the linear box doesnt show at all for me, once right clicked and insert key frame is clicked no box shows. right clicking again shows the same option to add or remove keyframe. any reason for this?
I am trying to add an audio clip that I separated from a video clip to the timeline to play behind a series of still photos from the same live musical event. This way I have live audio from the event playing as the stills flow across the screen. However, when the two play together on separate tracks the audio does not play smoothly and seems to be affected by the transitions of the second track with a series of photographs averaging 5 seconds per picture. Any thoughts on what the issue is?
Render the slideshow, then import the new video and then add audio. Openshot can only cope with limited transitions and number of clips. Kdenlive is a better option for larger projects.
@@michaelpatrickmoran ok so what do you use now? I found it a bit clunky not able to do frame for frame edits nor sound adjustments and only when I gave up and made an export was the sound steady and not full of hiccups. But I'd presumed I just hadn't found the tweaking tools . For free software it is great but if there are no fine adjustments I wouldn't want to have to rely on it for broadcasts!
What If i have a really short video of one minute but my background music will be 3 hours long. And I want the video to loop to fit the music till the end?. Apart from keep adding the video into timeline, is there a better way to do this? I mean adding 180 clips to fit the music is a long process.

what if i want my audio to be played for 5 mins duration? how do we do it? I am able to extend the audio-only until 24 seconds. Can't i extend it further?
@@ChipperVideos I recorded my voice audio just for a 1 min it's a chant now I want to add that audio to my youtube channel and it should play for atleast 5 mins ..now the issue is I am not able to extend the audio clip upto 5 mins..coz in open shot can't find a loop option...was trying to find if there is any way to loop the audio so that it plays upto 5 mins.

Some reason why you didn't show how to save it?????? I notice someone else is having the same problem as just the one saves when you "export" it.
Top left in File - Save Project As, then any further changes use Save Project.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, extending the length of an audio clip would slow it down.

Bring the audio into the timeline track 5 times so that it repeats for the length of the video.
