Beautiful build and I respect the path you took. On the other hand, I spent less than 4K to have similar power levels, going with mostly used quality parts. I do all my own work, down to extensive engine repairs, minus the tuning. I cannot account for all the aesthetics and brake upgrades. That stuff adds up very quick. Enjoying the nearly stock look of my car has helped me save money in the looks department.

Love the sti. I have a mk7gti but a sti is definitely one of those cars on my list.
The volk ce28s are dream wheel for me and on your car it’s *chefs kiss*
Really also appreciate you talking about the amount of time it’s taken you to get it to where it is now. It really puts it in perspective on how the internet almost warps reality and expectation on where someone’s build should be at any given time.
I’ve had my car for 2.5 years and only now learning to not rush things and just save for for i want so it turns out exactly how i want. And also just appreciate what i have and not worry about what the next guy has.
Thanks again for the videos, i might not have an sti but your content is still super relatable and entertaining to watch!

Just like any hobby in general, when you actually look back, look up the receipts and add everything up, you be surprised how much we actually spend on our hobbies.
But that is what hobbies are for, take us away from real life stress that goes on in our lives.

Perfect example to let people who are dreaming in mod an STi in one shot known that it takes patience, time and money, lots of money (over-time) to do it right. Just waiting to fix my caliper, one bolt snapped, now i waiting for a (timesert fix $250-$300+). By the way Great video my friend, keep it up!

This is my favorite STI hands down! 😍

  • @pw85___

    THINGS TO CONSIDER:
He didn't do all (100%) of the installs himself. A good bit was done professionally (which is expensive especially if it's a top notch performance shop) and then buying EVERYTHING brand new can add up fast.
I'm not anywhere near that amount but bits and pieces will add up quickly lol.
I'm glad I was beneficial to get what I did get for mine, secondhand for a great considering the parts were 90% all Cobb.
I have lately got a set of Enkei GTC01RR 's used with tires and they'll need a fresh powder coat job asap. For under $1500. Mind you, those wheels new for like $2600 online as we speak. I haven't even dabbled into suspension yet but I'm making a list very shortly for that.
I have about $1500 worth of exterior bits to put on the car and have it installed professionally.
I also have a 60% long block on the side to build for the future. I'll have to figure out a budget for that too.
All in all I'm around 8-9k invested. Most not installed yet and most will be installed by the end of the year. There's more that I haven't listed which I'll have on my IG later on.

I honestly thought the motor would be more, I have a motor being built that can handle 600 to maybe 800 but that build won’t be done for at least 3-5 years. The motor will be done in a year but I’m having fun with 380-390whp. I will be turning it up a little more, bigger turbo, full exhaust, from headers back, and full suspension set up.

I’d be interested to see a final build type of you driving this with videos also focused on what it sounds like on the outside, share your experiences of what parts changed the sounds of your car (e.g. bpv, downpipe, etc.) how other certain mods changed the drivability if any (experience with those specific FA coils) and anything else you can share relating to your final build vs how a stock sti would be.

karbel carbon fiber hood-16k weave-dry forged carbon both sides
for my suspension i did kw v3 coilovers, bc forged rims, with ps4s wheels
all this cost me lil over 19k lol we'll say 20, but i paid brand new for 63k out the door for my 2020 rs3

They go along the sides of the door to prevent door dings.

    • @Autofreakgarage

No it’s a color matched guard that goes on the side of the doors. It’s just double sided tape. Just heat them a bit with a heat gun and use some fishing line to slice through the tape. Same process you would do when you debadge.

Building a street monster Subie doesn’t have to be expensive though. In comparison, I have a ‘17 WRX Premium with 390hp/360ft-lbs at the wheels and I’ve spent $32k including the car (bought stock with 35k miles). I have water/methanol injection, flex fuel, FBO, STI Brembos, the usual shifter mods, tint including the windshield, $2500 stereo with Alpine ILX407 and Morel speakers/sub, summer, Autocross, and winter sets of aftermarket wheels and quality performance tires, and loads of maintenance with the best fluids and filters. Only thing I haven’t touched in a the suspension and that’s because the stock setup performs so incredibly well at both Autocross and on curvy mountain roads.
I love your build but let’s make sure it doesn’t chase people away from the platform.
