    Thank you so much for all your videos! They are so helpful! I have a question … I created some digital tumbler wraps and took them into Printify and no matter what I do they don’t line up. I downloaded a tapered template and sized it in photoshop. I’m using 300 dpi and the 9x8 (can’t remember exactly right now, but it’s the dimensions that everyone is using for the 20 ounce skinny wrap) and when I take it into printify nothing lines up. It’s always significantly smaller. I’m guessing I’m missing a very basic step because no one else seems to talk about this and I’ve searched on Google and TH-cam and I don’t see anyone discussing the reps not fitting in Printify. I was goin to sell my files as well but I wanted to test them. Ugh!

    • @digitallypurposedbailey
      @digitallypurposedbailey  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're welcome! I believe Printify's tumblers are actually different dimensions than the 20oz straight ones used by crafter's at the 9.3x8.2". Last time I checked they all were different. I would look at the dimensions they have listed in Printify and create at what they say.

    You are so kind to respond, as I know you must be busy. I have a full time job, so my etsy store usually gets my attention after everyone else is in bed for a few hours. I am doing the --tile command, and wondering if my aspect ratio is wrong. When I put the design in the pattern checker, I guess I am still not sure what I am looking for. It looks tiled, but when I put it on my mockup and look at the back image (sometimes I will put it up in printify so I can look at the back or do a video on canva, it doesn't meet up so to speak..... could it be my aspect ratio? I have seen several suggestions for the aspect ratio.

    • @digitallypurposedbailey
      @digitallypurposedbailey  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Yes, the AR will be different depending on the type of tumbler you're designing for and the POD ones are a different size. The pattern checker will show very harsh lines if the design is not seamless and the objects won't "connect" to each other.

    Can you post a video on how to make a seamless pattern without AI? For example, using a 12" x 12" digital paper that is not seamless and turning it into a 9.3" x 8.2" tumbler design...how can I make it seamless in Procreate, Illustrator or Canva?

    • @digitallypurposedbailey
      @digitallypurposedbailey  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the 12x12 design is not already seamless you wouldn't be able to convert it to be one as it is already an existing design. Without AI, you can create a pattern with any type of graphic/elements you have created or bought (digital commercial use) and make a pattern and it will be 'seamless' so long as none of the elements touch the sides in any of those software, Canva Procreate, Illustrator.

    It would be great if you could please talk about the importance of creating an LLC and trademark. Anyone could go to your listings and register them if you haven't done it already... don't you think?

    • @digitallypurposedbailey
      @digitallypurposedbailey  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I really don't see how anyone could possibly trademark/copyright all their listings in a design-based category such as tumbler wraps as this would cost millions of dollars. The average cost of a trademark is $350-650 (and it's not guaranteed you'll receive it in the classes you need, but you still pay it.) While copyrighting designs is much less, $65 per design, for a shop with 3K+ designs would still be hundreds of thousands. I did trademark & copyright a few designs last year, but it did not stop very much of the copycats, so unfortunately, on Etsy, it's just the nature of the game. The only recourse is if the design is actually yours and they are reselling, but as for making a similar version of it, anyone can do and there's not much you can do about it which is why it's important to establish a strong customer base outside of Etsy :(.

    How did you come up with the size of 9.3 x 8.2 in. or 2790 x 2460 px? When I look at Printify they have two 20 oz tumblers. According to Printify, the skinny one has a print area of 2722 x 2325 px or 9.07 x 7.75 in. The other 20oz tumbler they have is 2795 x 2100 px or 9.316 x 7 in. Maybe you source your skinny 20oz tumblers from somewhere else?

      Printify's tumblers are not what sublimation crafter's use to make/print and are not made with sublimation as they use UV printing. I did test some of my designs on them awhile back and some would work depending on the type of design. So if creating specifically for POD, you'll want to use their measurements. The 9.3x8.2" size is the average size of what we use from all major wholesalers of sublimation tumblers.

    If I am creating a design right, ( I made a design using AI: anime man with a sword and Cherry blossom background) it doesn't repeat and you can see where the design stops. For that type of image, is that ok for it to not repeat consideration it's not a pattern?

      Yes, it's still fine and some customers like this type and aren't looking for seamless. It's just a different style :)

    Should a tumbler png always be transparent ? is a white background okay?

    • @digitallypurposedbailey
      @digitallypurposedbailey  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It just depends on the style, most prefer them not with a white background. :)

    Bailey, are you a graphic designer by trade?

    Hi, my design was seamless, but after I downloaded it from Kittl I checked it again and it wasn't seamless. Am I doing something wrong? Why doesn't it stay seamless?

    • @digitallypurposedbailey
      @digitallypurposedbailey  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! This will happen if you have to stretch the design beyond the canvas size, resulting it in not lining up to meet the other side. Were you creating it as a square or the specific tumbler dimensions?

    I was wondering why you don't use Photoshop to enlarge the ai design?

      Hi! I just generally don't use PS for anything besides mockups. I like have different software dedicated for different purposes, keeps me more organized when working in bulk. :)

    I don’t understand how if you’re cutting it off in kittle how it’s still seamless?

    What’s your pricing strategy? Why 1.97? Why not 1.99 or any other price?

      My pricing structures continually fluctuates depending on the day of the week, time of year and marketplace stats. :)

    Why would you use Kittle to create the wrap shape/size instead of PS when PS has a built-in pattern tool and you're already using PS for the mockup? Sorry, my curious brain just wonders why you'd do a more complicated step and open a whole new site when everything is at your fingertips in PS? Have you had some issues using PS for patterns?

      I don't use PS for anything really besides mockups and the script running it. Not a designer and I don't like Adobe anything :)

    Upscaling actually breaks the seamless pattern. When you zoom in you will notice glitch lines along the sides of the patterns because of the way gigapixel uses models to upscale. You probably won't notice zoomed out, but when you zoom in it looks pretty bad on some patterns.

      Interesting! I've never had an issue with this upscaler and patterns and have sold 100s of them, but it could be because they're pretty "busy" patterns.
