Magimix Cook Expert vs Thermomix TM6? A Thermie Expert's Opinion

  • Over the last 10 years, my family and I have cemented ourselves as the go-to resource for all things thermo cooking - recipes, cookbooks, accessories, tutorials and more! This started with the Thermomix as the original and only thermo cooker (my first Thermomix was a TM21 - I’ve since had a TM31, TM5 and now TM6!), but over the years other brands and machines have entered the market, and we’re here to serve users of them all! Different machines offer different features and advantages, and importantly are offered at vastly different price points. My mission has always been to get more people cooking more often and from scratch, so the more options for consumers, the better as far as I’m concerned!
    Want to know my thoughts on the Magimix Cook Expert compared with the Thermomix TM6? I’ve put my honest options in this video. While I do make a small commission on sales of the Magimix Cook Expert (if you use the below links!), this video is absolutely impartial, and in about half the criterion I do prefer the Thermomix. I really hope you find it useful!

    I have a Magimix CE. love it. I have a comment on the negative aspect of the scale. I really like the fact that it is separate for 2 reasons. The first is that if you are measuring straight into the bowl already containing ingredients, and put in slightly too much, you can’t always take it out again. If you use the portability of the very accurate Magimix scale you just weigh accurately then add. No real difference at that point. The second reason is that if the scale dies for what ever reason, the Magimix one is fully replaceable as are all the individual parts. With a 30 year guarantee on the motor, it makes sense that some parts are going to pack up before the expensive main unit. Another comment I have re storage of all the accessories; the Magimix replaces so many appliances, you can make so much more room in your kitchen by getting rid of the other things. 😀 also the little bowl on the FP mills really well, even one piece of garlic beautifully. It’s only a tiny bowl to rinse. You do have to plan ahead a bit though. I do concede that. Great review… now more videos cooking with the Magimix please 🥰

    Bought a Magimix March this year 2022. Absolutely love it. Love the size and shape of the Magimix bowl. So versatile. Yesterday I made pumpkin soup, spelt bread, banana cake and banana ice cream! Amazing. Having said that I use my Vitamix for milling. No problem. Plus you get a full sized food processor with the Magimix. What’s not to love! The scales are not a problem. Plus if there’s a problem with the scales you lose your whole machine while it gets fixed. Plus you can use the scales for other things. The Expert function in the Magimix is really good.
    Would way prefer having the two appliances than the thermo mix

    Thank you for the balanced and fair comparison. In 2014 I purchased a second hand TM31 unaware of the seal/ lid safety issues brewing at the time. The TM31 excels at milling spices, milling grain into flour and making icy sorbets, probably due to the narrower bowl. Seeking a safer alternative for high temp. cooking, after a lot of research, I bought a Magimix Cook Expert due to: being available in stores, overall functionality, larger bowl, bigger steel steaming basket and varoma, see through twist-locking lid, food processor capability and various attachments. The accurate, separate scales are really handy. Love the XL bowl. I prefer the control I have with the CE, like not having to wait for the machine to unlock the lid or needing to follow in-machine recipe steps. Was so impressed with the CE after 2 years I bought a second. Dough can be proving in one whilst the other is being used as a food processor or cooking a stew. Very happy with the Magimix. TM is better for milling.

    • • Thermomix vs Tokit? • •🤔 Thank you for the great video! I have been researching thermo cookers, leaning towards the Thermomix, but recently found out that the Tokit has a lot of advantages too. Have you done a review on that? I couldn't find one on your channel. The only solid thermomix versus tokit review I found seemed a little biased towards the tokit, but seemingly with good reason. Pluses were: the better temperature accuracy in Tokit (using external thermometer) vs Thermomix, where external thermometer revealed lower temp than stated on the screen ☹️. Also a wider bottom steamer on the Tokit. I do trust the Vorwerk brand, as we had their vacuum cleaner in Italy for 50 years and it never broke. My cooking will be simple and time is a major factor, I'm not much of a cook and work many hours, tho I only have myself to look after and maybe some dinners for friends. Not sure the expense is justified for just single me. Your magimix looks great, I too would prefer glass and metal, but it seems too big for just myself needing to whip up a meal in a short time, as you said... and not having much experience in the kitchen. Do you plan on a Tokit review? Have you seen the one by the other Australian lady and if so, what do you think. Lower price for Tokit, but I don't know the longevity of the brand.
    Sorry for the really long post. Thanks for reading,🙏 if u got till here, I appreciate your work❤️ and will definitely be checking out your books once I get myself a thermo cooker. 😁

      @nihouma11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ann Reardon (How to cook that) had a great comparison of the two. I think the biggest differences between the two is the steamer, higher temp of the Tokit, and while both have guided recipes, the Thermomix has a much better guided recipe database but requires a subscription whereas the Tokit has fewer guided recipes but does not require a subscription.
      I personally went the Tokit because I like stir fried food, and the Tokit is much better for that and east Asian style foods (makes sense as it was developed by Chinese engineers), and by extension also good for Mexican food which requires higher heat for some things too. Plus the Tokit is several hundred dollars cheaper (though if the Thermomix could hit higher temperatures the Tokit could and have that be accessible in manual mode, I'd have gone for that instead due to the guided recipes)
