SMC make the best packs with true C ratings at great $$ IMO

I am about to give them a try. I though are getting them for my Xmaxx. My last set were Maxamps. Last run I did something stupid and moved my low voltage cutoff to low from intermediate and puffed them. Maxamps say they won’t sell lipos for RC cars no more. But if I see on their site I see my battery they just don’t have a RC section and tell you what fits. One Maxamps battery 6500mah is more than two SMC 9500mah combined.

Once again, good information Big B. Been using the SMC high voltage packs for a while now. Good stuff in specific applications. Thanks

Man, good timing on this video. I'm looking for another pack after running my 4S HRB brick down to cutoff like a dummy. I'm pretty sure doing that ruined 2 of the cells, because they won't charge above 4 volts now. (sigh) ..live and learn! BG4L

Awesome Big B👍 looking forward to your thoughts, love the SMC, I want to run them in my 48 super sonic wake. Not sure yet what I’m to put in there yet SMC wise.

Probably wont be able to get my hands on it. But also, in case of my boat, wouldnt risk loosing the esc. A motor swap would be cheaper then...
Working on dom last few days. Later in comming week some good weather is forecasted. Have to do some testruns first to feel it out after the crash. If all ok i will attempt 95+ run.

HV in my rigger do extremely well & fit better than the HP packs. 1mm smaller. But it does sacrifice some punch. Definitely need to pay attention to the max voltage of the equipment your running. I love the size of these!

Nice, bummer that I don’t see any that fit the bj24 anymore on the site though. Hopefully smc comes out with some 3s 5000mah flat packs that are under 26mm tall.

Great info. Might look into the HCL-HC 8400s for my Losi Super Baja Rey 2.0.

Great review!! Unfortunately, SMC will NOT ship to the UK/EU. Due to shipping regulations.

The only packs that I've found that can BARELY run 1 mile of ovals. Are the SMC HCL-HP
They can take the abuse and keep taking charges.
    Running Dominator hull 3660 leopard 2000kv 4519 prop on and 1 SMC HCL-HP 7600
They're good! And they have great customer service!
No packs I've found have been able to run ovals that way at wot for 1 mile except SMC
They are constantly innovating and testing new packs and abuses. Raising the bar at every stage.

Excellent information on battery and charger technology, I have the same Spektrum smart charger but did not know about the HVC batteries so that is nice to know. Big B what motor did you settle on in your BJ42 ? You burnt the armature black when you did 106mph and taught us to use small zip ties on cooling lines for high speed runs . just last night I ask Bill Oxidean if he thought one of his motors would be good for the BJ42, the motor is the Dynamo 53100 8pole 1450kv . Going faster than 90mph is not required for my boat.

Big B you should definitely do some testing with 8S LIHV on the XLX2 I'm sure it would be just fine, it's barely over max voltage and won't really be running under a load at the voltage due to immediate drop on throttle , In my drone days , guys would run 5s on 4s boards and 6s on 5s boards never had a problem

Has been tested by speedrunners. But these guys dont mind blowing up an esc or wreck a car. So its more how much risk your willing to take...

As long as you don't over exceed the esc's maximum voltage limit, these Hv lipos will work with any speed control.. if/when you charge to 4.35 you'll need to disable the esc's LVC..

  • @PhilipLansdown
    @PhilipLansdown 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

These lipos need to be charged all of the way up first then discharge with your charger down to storage mode then your lipos will work great

Sorry for sounding like a broken record but like I said every time I get new lipo batteries this is what I do before using my RC stuff so can see my previous posts on lipos
