As a child we went frequently to the IOW for holidays, my hubby and I now retired came a few years back. All I can remember is the concrete - coastal defences - it's as though the whole island is supported by a concrete skirt. So was hoping when you video popped up there might have been something we missed.

It is not just the coastal erosion causing the damage but the fact the land is soft chalk based and extreme wet weather causes the ground to wash out any cracks making them bigger leading to landslips so not an area you would like to live in anywhere near the cliff edges. You cannot keep spending millions to save a couple of homes you need to let nature run it's course who would buy a home on soft cheese like soil anyway?
