Same here. Mine is still in brand new condition since I’m OCD minus a tiny paint wear that happened naturally - trying to get Montana mtn 94 spray paint to touch it up.
This synthesizer was sent by heaven. And this dude simply goes nuts with it. I wish I could perform like he just did. Very nice review! This workstation is a MUST HAVE ... and it's only like 3500$ Kinda cheap^^
As always, Yamaha has pushed the envelope even further, and I hope it never stops. I have a Motif-ES and now I'm rearranging plans to make the upgrade. Having USB 2.0, sampler with 1gb, extra control over the voices and also never losing my ES data are great reasons to think religiously about the upgrade to XS. It's really worth the investment.
I recently bought a Yamaha Motif XS6, I did consider the XS rack but in the end I decided to get a workstation partly because of the Cubase integration and the functionality you get with the keyboard as well as a very high quality keyboard with aftertouch. Even though I already have Halion 7 the Motif XS is still great to have in addition to Halion and still in general sounds better compared to the Halion Sonic SE "Basic set" which is based on Halion One. Many professional musicians also still use Yamaha Motif. I remember back when I watched this video in 2007 owning a Yamaha Motif seemed like a pipe dream and back then a Yamaha PSR-295 was as good as it got for me and also a Roland MC-505 groovebox which was my very first professional synthesizer ( it belonged to my Uncle but he gave it to the family as a gift due to a broken potentiometre ).
hello bro, I just got amazed by this machin and it converged the whole ideas i had into only one place coz i`m about to make a littel home studio, anyway i got little query if you can help with it, U know I`m really intrested into the orintal music styles and i dont know if it supports the scales of them or not ???? help me please waiting for answers
ok - now i'm confused - i just want a board that has great sounds - is it worth the extra 1400 euros to buy an XS instead of an MO8 ? The sampler option does look tempting but I'm not sure I'd ever use it !
It's very simple and very practical playing great sounds and record them whenever you want at the YAMAHA MotifXS. It doesn't happen to my Korg Triton Le.
yes it does, the motif xs has everything from all the other motif key boards but this one has far more sounds music voices to but yes all they same stuff is in this model =]
Presently you can find these used for very cheap compared to what they cost when they were new! $1000 at the most!! What’s good besides the sounds is that this instrument samples as well as records audio!! The only thing that I don’t like about them is that they aren’t light in weight! They are rugged though for the road!
I am trying to find out what voice Robbie Buchanan among others used on songs...like the intro to Beauty and the Beast..Luis Miguel 20 years album...Chicago's hard habit to break..I heard he used a Tx 816 module with a MKS..layered with something else..I have a Yamaha Dgx 300 and it has a Dx electric piano..but wondered what board comes close to that Robbie Buchanan signature voice.
what synth keyboard should i get im new to them and i would be playing trance techno electro house hardstyle and hardcore on the keyboard and1 got any idea what one i should get..??i was thinking bout the korg x50 is it good..??
great keyboard !! I had a small question. As Bert says, there are lots of arpeggios which can recognize chords from our playing.. Is it possible to synthesize our own arpeggio in it ? For instance, if I have have to make my own guitar style, with strumming, picking and harmonics ?
@manofmusicproduction basic differences between the motif 6, 6es and the 6 xs . what im learning is that the es and xs are just new reissues with more sounds? thanks
Does anyone know if wav or mp3 samples from pc can be transfered to the xs for editing, applying fx and aranging? Also how many FX can be applied per channel? thx
The XS6, XS7 and XS8 have the same sounds, features and functions. The only differences are the number of keys and that the XS8 has IEEE1394 Firewire port as standard.
This can be great on stage, but I think is more geared for the studio. For ive playing, check out the new Yamaha S90XS. It has alot of hands on knobs and sliders for immedaite layering and has fantastic piano sounds.
Bert, that's impressive! Thanks for this cool demo. Just, I'm curious, some of the melodies and chords you play reminds me to some of my songs!! maybe we're somehow mentally connected :DD (look, particularly the chords on the accordion sounds very much my song Ballerina) Cheers. Gnomusy
The saxophones are really good on Motif XS as all the Halon Sonic 3 and Halion 4 Factory saxophones came from Motif XS. The orchestral sounds are also still very usable. Correction the Halion 4 factory saxophones are either from the later Motif XF or/and some of the sounds in the full version of Halion are exclusive to Halion but the saxophones in Motif XS are the same the saxophones in Motif ES.
@Keyboardbeatz Sounds to me like the sound was recorded via direct input into the audio of this video, so yeah to an extent you *can* get a very good idea of the sound quality - if you watch this video on a computer with a quality sound card and decent speakers.
Hi Peoples I want buy the motif XS8 or the Korg M3, but wich one is beter??? I have allready the Yamaha Tyros2. Are the Sounds of the motif xs the same? Thanks for Your repleys! :-)
The sounds in Motif are more superior and pristine than Tyros because Motif is a workstation and it's intended for music production whereas Tyros is an arranger and the sounds in an arranger are more optimized for live playing rather than recording with.
I bought the XS6 14 years ago and it is the best investment I have ever made!
Would you still recommend it today? Or would a MODX sound much better? A used XS6 costs around the sane as a used MODX6.
@@followyourpassion8378I would recommend the motif.
Same here. Mine is still in brand new condition since I’m OCD minus a tiny paint wear that happened naturally - trying to get Montana mtn 94 spray paint to touch it up.
Like a fine wine, Bert just gets better with age!
Miss this guy he is the best rep.
This synthesizer was sent by heaven.

One of Yamahas best
Maestro Smorenburg. The guy makes it look so easy like a kid's toy. Even the MOTIF is a great machine tooo......
Man I could watch this guy all night
Bert makes it look so easy!

I buy a XS7 next week, thanks Bert and Ronald.
Can't wait for wednesday....
This guy could sell a bruce springsteen CD to a 50 cent fan. Hes the best.
He's probably the best keyboard player in the world
I think that was probably the best synth demo I've ever seen! Hell, I think I'm gonna sell my computer set up! :-D

This is the grand father of my Yamaha modx. This dude an amazing sales man. I hope Roland won't steal him. Yamaha should pay him a lot.
"Just like that" .. Bert for President !!
I have an ES8 and I agree with Bert, the XS has a lot more to offer. The best keyboard in the market!
The Fantom X was released in 2004
ok - now i'm confused - i just want a board that has great sounds - is it worth the extra 1400 euros to buy an XS instead of an MO8 ?

i already order xs8 , hopefully it will deliver to by next week ........ The best music synthesizer so far .
one hell of a cool demo !
Is the only difference in the XS6, 7 and 8, the amount of keys or is their any other difference in what it can do?
How did he do the vocode singing at the beginning? I have the XS8 and I would love to vocode with it!!!!!
yes it does, the motif xs has everything from all the other motif key boards but this one has far more sounds music voices to but yes all they same stuff is in this model =]
Hi sayspepe
You don't have to use the buttons to play megavoices. You can put that on velocity too.
Yes - Bert ROCKS!
I wonder if the xs rack will come out.
The sounds on this one, are they the same as in the yamaha motif module ?
Один из лучших инструментов среди клавишных
I want to know if my rackmount version has the same dynamics as the keyboard version... Does anyone know ?
Your video is very convincing! I'm sold :D
Bert , You are great !

Even the pro arrangers from Yahama are as heavy as the synths from the same brand.
important question!!!
can you create custom drumkits and then use them in the sequencer?
I am trying to find out what voice Robbie Buchanan among others used on songs...like the intro to Beauty and the Beast..Luis Miguel 20 years album...Chicago's hard habit to break..I heard he used a Tx 816 module with a MKS..layered with something else..I have a Yamaha Dgx 300 and it has a Dx electric piano..but wondered what board comes close to that Robbie Buchanan signature voice.
He has a website. Ask him through the contact page. Send him a compliment with your question. They like that ;-)
what synth keyboard should i get im new to them and i would be playing trance techno electro house hardstyle and hardcore on the keyboard and1 got any idea what one i should get..??i was thinking bout the korg x50 is it good..??
how good is the motif when u compare it to the korg pa 80
If u have a memory card u can save onto that, not sure what type is needed for the xs,I have the es8 and I save onto a smart media card.
it's around USD 3000.00..in Malaysia the price is RM 11000.00
GREAT DEMONSTRATION!!!!!
Can you tell me how to layer sounds on the motif . I know its done in performance mode but I don't know exactly where to go
great keyboard !!
I had a small question. As Bert says, there are lots of arpeggios which can recognize chords from our playing.. Is it possible to synthesize our own arpeggio in it ? For instance, if I have have to make my own guitar style, with strumming, picking and harmonics ?
which is better motif xs8 or es8
I just brought one from sweetwater on monday custom made with all the sounds from the mo series and es series and I think the mm series to.
is there any diff in the 3 models b-side number of keys?
@manofmusicproduction basic differences between the motif 6, 6es and the 6 xs . what im learning is that the es and xs are just new reissues with more sounds? thanks
More sounds, Moe arpeggios, more effects, more polyphony, more features...
does anybody knows the song at 4:58 ?? i love this organ improvisation
thank you !!
Does anyone know if wav or mp3 samples from pc can be transfered to the xs for editing, applying fx and aranging?
Also how many FX can be applied per channel?
thx

DO the Motif xs have any wah wah sounds or horns? like some fred wesley maceo parker like horns?
It's probably got the ability to add wah wah on ay of it's sounds.
i love his jam at 2:36- 2:46
Does the Motif XS rack have most of these features?
This can be great on stage, but I think is more geared for the studio. For ive playing, check out the new Yamaha S90XS. It has alot of hands on knobs and sliders for immedaite layering and has fantastic piano sounds.
does anyone know if the sound drops out when you switch between patches?
The guitar is awesome!!
can you use any mic with the right plug-in for the motif? i wana do those voices thats awesome
does any one know the name of the guitar piece this guy is playing ? I really want to know.
how do you connect keyboard with monitor
@manofmusicproduction Can you make a pattern then change the chords?
Bert, that's impressive! Thanks for this cool demo. Just, I'm curious, some of the melodies and chords you play reminds me to some of my songs!! maybe we're somehow mentally connected :DD (look, particularly the chords on the accordion sounds very much my song Ballerina) Cheers. Gnomusy
Copper wires from the DVI output on a mac to the DVI input on a TV screen. Cool.
i wonder how the sax & orchestral sounds are like?
The saxophones are really good on Motif XS as all the Halon Sonic 3 and Halion 4 Factory
saxophones came from Motif XS. The orchestral sounds are also still very usable.

that is the price for xs6, Bert is playing the xs7 which is as I said about $2800
how many sounds does it have?
i have a korg already, want a yamaha to compliment it - mo or xs? big difference in price
Sorry if I’m late, but I’d get the XS
very nice playing,
bert is the best :D !
MAaaaaaaaan, this is incredible! I might have to get a 2nd 3rd and 4th job to get one of these babies!!! lol

@3dot141,
YES to all your questions.
Great performer!
@Keyboardbeatz Sounds to me like the sound was recorded via direct input into the audio of this video, so yeah to an extent you *can* get a very good idea of the sound quality - if you watch this video on a computer with a quality sound card and decent speakers.
how do i get to the patches like this guy is doing????
EASY & FAST!!!!
Hi Peoples
I want buy the motif XS8 or the Korg M3, but wich one is beter???

Bert rocks!
Man u are a str8 gangsta boiii !!! Good video
YO!!!!! This dude is genius!!!
wat ya mean 11 k???how much is that by usa dollars?
i love bert!!!
the only thing that i wish the xs/xf had in the sequencer was step editing...in the es it came with it...
If you are in song, pattern, or perform mode, no, the sounds don't drop out. If you are in voice mode, yes, they do... with rev 1.10 of firmware...
nossa meu o bert é de mais !! caramba meu !!
AND IT'S IN !!
this keyboard have autoaccompaniment, how a Psr?
No but it has patterns.
Yes! Absolutely
this guy is amazing
i love the song in 2:36
So, sell something!
Several people I know have sold their fridges and other household furniture just to get MotifXS. :-)
All are the same but the XS8 has IEEE1394 firewire built-in whereas on the others (XS6 and XS7) its an option.
There is a vocoder inside. Use the mic input.
i want the song!!! in 2:36 - 2:46
Puedes checar algo de esto en español en mi sitio
Saludos
Gran sonido
in malaysia the price is RM11k++
Everybody watch the little funk mode he goes into at around about 4:10....LOL!
