Thanks for the video. I have the kkr26 3gr spool and had the same thing in mind. I have all kinds of little maggets to cast but haven't done it yet. It's been a few months, but when I cast the trout magnet from what I can remember, the kkr spool grained some distance, but it wasn't anything crazy. On the water with the kkr spool I noticed lures over 1gr but under 2 gr really fly. i haven't thrown much heavier than that. I haven't compared the distance, but they seem like they go quit a bit farther than the stock spool. Thought I put something on that was around a 1/2gr and it cast at least 10yds but don't remember for sure. I just know I was happy with the distance for creek fishing. Thanks again for all your videos.
Waiting for that casting video with those ultra light waxworms I got a fly lure about 13 yards .5 grams with the kkr/Aldebaran looking forward to your review.
I have the S26-0 spool on my 22 aldebaran and don’t have that problem of the spool getting stuck on the side plate bearing. I was able to cast a 0.41g micro ice jig at 25 feet with the brakes on 5!! I was using the Mavllos Plume and 2lb test. Super impressed with the spool! 👌🏼
@@THEREELTEST that sucks man! I got the black color one. There’s another KKR spool for the Metanium but is way shallower then the one you showed on your video!
Reels with super light spools must be installed on the same light spinning rods up to 2-3 grams in dough. The difference in reels with super light spools will be clearly visible on baits weighing 0.5 and 1 gram. Thanks for the review.
That 22 aldebaran bfs IMO is the best bfs reel straight out of the box ever made....yep I said it. The daiwa bfs reels need a roro spool just to compete and are still not as smooth and refined. I usually get aftermarket spools for my bfs reels to squeeze all the performance out of the reel that I can....but that aldebaran damn it just gets better and better and is the best stock performer money can buy.
The maggot will cast but just not far. Once you go below 1 gram the biggest factor is wind. From there on selecting bait profile is important. I got the kkr 2.4 gram spool. It did well.
Nice comparison! In my testing with the KKR 22’ alde spool I find that it’s made casting 1g lure weights much more consistent. I didn’t find or notice an increase in distance much if at all. The stock spool is very capable but is really sensitive to your casting technique in my findings. The KKR is more forgiving imho. That being said the QC might be a bit touchy as I know a few people who have had really bad issues with their spools not rotating freely. I’m also curious as to why the spool tension shaft was made of PEEK which has a really high coeff of friction… I would have maybe considered something that is a bit less grabby so that the spool shaft end can rotate freer? I dunno. In any case at $65 it’s not a bad upgrade imho but be sure to check for tolerances and reach out to the store if you’ve got any issues. Cheers!!!
thanks for doing this ultimate comparison , the bfs discipline is getting major interest from all around the world with new rods reels and crazy light spools being introduced it is becoming a next level competition and i realized bfs enthusiasts cant hold themselves buying these aftermarket chinese spools without even watching a real review just to test by themselves so there is indeed a great hype out there chinese market realised they can hook bfs anglers to buy these stuff like the same way we spend so much money on fancy lures lol im still a bit skeptical about sub 4gr spools. i tested the avail spool for new aldebaran , it helps casting 1gr lures but the difference between the stock spool is not that much in efficiency , it is not as big as a step compared to 2016 aldebaran coupled with avail spool, that one was a considerable improvement. so is there some kind of diminishing returns below 6gr spools now? the aldebaran stock spool and new ftb break system is already functioning very well. i think your field test will proove whether it is worth it to invest sub 4gr spools so looking forward to it. if thats gonna allow us to step in sub 1gr area than i think bfs anglers might invade the mighty fly fishing territory, that would be very interesting and exciting !
I think a lot of these spools try to save weight on the shaft where the weight is absolutely least important to casting performance, but critical for overall durability and quality of use.
@@makeorwellfictionagain3553 I have the avail spool for the Aldebaran 30 MGL but havent taken the time to try to fit the brake hub. But yeah, I wish KKR made the spool for the Aldebaran 30/50 instead of the Metanium.
Does anyone know if I can run straight fluorocarbon on these bfs reels. I fish for trout and they are pretty spooky. I would like to run some 4 lb sunline. The problem is, every TH-camr or instagrammed I’ve seen yet uses braid.
the lightest one ive seen is the avail spool on Hedgehog Studios. I have it but need to find a way to transfer the brake assembly over from the stock spool
the bass fishing environment in China may be the reason why they are making those bfs reels better and better, farmed bass (weak pussy fishes indeed) in managed fishing pond is way more cautious than the wild ones

I would like to see the modification of the Metanium with the KKR Spool!😉
Thx for sharing the information.
Wait for your casting video before I purchase it😊

I would love to see you do a casting comparison of the high end Lews reels vs the Shimano bait casting reels.
Email Lew's to send me some of their high end reels so I can do that.

Great
I'de like to see the performance of the Metanium with the KKR with regular bass finesse 3g-10g on ML/M rods.
3-10 grams is already doable on the stock spool. Im going to test it for 2 grams and under
Hello everyone, I'm still new to this. I want to buy a casting rod with test up to 15 grams, which reel would you recommend?
there are literally hundreds of rods that will do that

no

Radical brah
Is it possible to buy genuine Shimano SVS brake blocks rather than taking them off the factory spool?
I assume it is the same for Metanium 2020 and 2022 metanium SE? Great video
Yes the spool will fit all current metaniums that use the core solid frame that came out in 2020

Yes straight flourocarbon is the only way I fish bait finesse. Dont get caught up in the braid color fashion show.
They should make it for the curado bfs
Yes its confusing, the Curado BFS is selling quite well but only 2 aftermarket spools made for it?
