that large cam in the horizontal crack wouldn't have held no matter how good the rock quality is, since the direction of pull would have drastically reduced the camming action. You have to be very careful with horizontal cracks (user manuals will advise people not use horizontal placements at all) and I'm a little worried that this wasn't mentioned in this at all. All the vertical placements were facing outward instead of down, too.
