That opening whistle note takes me right back to the summer of 1993. My camp friends and I sang this song over and over again until the counselor lost her shit and told us to stop. Ah, memories.
Proud Canadian and ditto. Definitely the best thing to sing in school when everyone else chimed in with God Save the Queen. Not that * I * would do it... often...
It's been probably 25-30 years since this came out when I was a teenager and the bloody intestine flying through the air, shooting out that piece of poop at the end of the video still kills me.
God bless the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen who braved the Canajun terrain in search of uncharted territory. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Burn in Hell, you brave souls. You've earned it.
I started to rewatch the whole series a few days ago (again) while working on some freelance projects, and caught up with this gem (and again). I truly love the whole sequence! That point in the story when Stimpy starts to sing, and how the number begins to grow slowly until it blows up through the air thanks to everyone's energy. It's hilarious!! And somehow, the expressiveness of each character, brush strokes, BGs, and voice acting, makes me feel very emotional 😂👏🏼 like almost crying! ... I might need professional help. Or just have to wait until my bones bleach in the sun.
Now, I am a British citizen, so almost every time I hear my country's national anthem, "God Save the Queen/King", that the song is heavily based on, I'll think of the lyrics of Ren & Stimpy's version of it from the top of my head.
@@bostonrailfan2427 Regardless, the creator was a Canadian, and so are the Royal Canadian Kilted Yachtsman, so it would make a lot more sense for it to be based on God Save the King. I say this as a (Carribbean) Commonwealther myself.

Man I miss having my own Sky Box and had Nicktoons and they'd air Ren and Stimpy late at night and round the time, I had created my Ren and Stimpy group on Facebook, this was round 2012 so I was just like, getting into Ren and Stimpy after missing out. It's incredible how huge the group is now, but this song playing followed by a commercial break was truly something magical, the moment the song continues and the whole orchestra and singing kicks in, it's absolutely brilliant.
Every time I hear God save the Queen I can only hear “smell of rotting beef carcasses”. Just watching the olympics and had to explain that to my half Brit/Zimbo wife what this was. Go Yaksmen!
After not hearing this song for 30 years it randomly pops up in my head while shaving. I head to TH-cam to veiw it and without missing a beat remember it word for word. Such a great childhood.
Fucking crazy how cartoons back then got away with some stuff! I think I was listening to the commentary of this episode and when they pointed out the intestine shooting out a turd, I was like, "Wait, WHAT!?". Had to pay close attention to confirm! XD
I first heard this song when I was maybe 6 years old and now I'm realizing at 35 that it was the exact moment I stopped maturing and growing emotionally.
I am *amazed* to discover, more than 25 years later, that the friend who sang this to me on the school bus the following day after I missed the episode remembered the first three lines exactly correctly, and that I remembered what he sang exactly correctly for that same number of years. I was *sure* that at least "and they smell like rotting beef carcasses" was an embellishment, but not only was it not, but he sang it in the exact cadence that Stimpy does, so the chorus version later sounds wrong to me. Remarkable. Well done, the two or three friends I think it was probably one of.
I remember on my Christmas break a few years back, and I was binge watching teen nick, this was was the first episode I had saw in such a long time when it appeared🤣
Now, I know that 'hell' being replaced with a burp sound is censorship - but personally, I think it makes the line much funnier. A good 'censored' gag can actually improve something, if it's funny enough, because it leaves it completely open as to what COULD actually be there - and your mind can fill in the rest.
This is the funniest cartoon I had the pleasure of watching with my kids. I still have laughing fits thinking about moments from the show such as the baboon.
One of my formative toddler memories is my dad pausing at the end of this song laughing and showing me that someone threw their intestine up in the air. His face was bright red from cracking up at this. I must have been three so I didn’t really know what an intestine looked like and hated blood. I haven’t grown into a normal person.
Been playing this religiously over Ladd 1 , couple months now, every morning at 5:30 when I leave a truck stop or if I am already driving I just play it anyway and someone will hear it :)
When I was a kid, I saw a lot of animated cartoons portraying the RCMP as heroic wanderers. I was too dumb to realize that these cartoons were from Canada, and not America, where I live. This cartoon bucked the trend by ripping the Mounties a new hole and I'm all for that.
As a Canadian I was just singing this song to my herd of yaks yesterday.
Next time film it!
I hope searing sand was blowing up your skirt!
Me too!
This has me craving some fresh Canadian tree lobster
Lol as a kid i use to know the lyrics well😂 but now i noticed it sounds like the german empire anthem😂😂
I love the implications that going to Hell is the highest honor of the Canadian Kilted Yaksmen.
That's just a Canadian thing. After living in Canada, everywhere else is basically just hell!
Satan can't bring himself to be mean to us, so it's just a toasty vacation
Hello you Canayjians!!

>bloody intestine defecating in the air
Ok.
>the word "hell"
NO. No no no. That's a big NO.
i honestly didn't notice the turd until now.
I never really understood why Hell is considered a swear by Standards and Practices if you're only referring to the place, Hell.
Why not replace that word with "heck"?
