The way I fix broken Megatrons is similar. Except in reverse. I drill a hole completely through the stud and gray plastic part. I then use a nail cut to length and come from the Bottom up. That way it doesnt interfere with the trigger. I then use a push washer on the top. Its pretty much a permanent fix that never loosens up.
I remember getting Megatron G1 for Christmas and my younger brother getting Optimus Prime. The gun mode was awesome but we don't talk about the trigger position in robot mode lol. I know I've said this before but being born deaf I do really appreciate the subtitles. Your videos are easy to follow and are genuinely a pleasure to watch.
I really like both of these rough around the edges. They really show a story. I can’t decide if I like them better Transformed or not. Can’t wait to see where they show up.
This turned out great Dave, considering what a sorry state he started in. That arm and the home made washer were ingenious fixes. I definitely reckon you should paint his face though, just to try and get him a little more pristine looking. Would be very interested to see you having a go at a DIY version of his Fusion Cannon/Gun sight. My childhood Megatron ended up in a worse state than this, but I still had the box, so you piece him back together and he looked displayable in gun mode. Another kid at my school was happy to do a swap with me for my broken Megatron for his pristine Buzzsaw (with weapons), which my secondhand Soundwave was missing.
Excellent work! In the Japanese domestic market, the trigger actually has a function to fire pellets. That's what the oval hole on the top is for, to insert the plastic pellet. The International release had two more parts, one plastic and one spring, that resided inside that hollow void which worked with the trigger. If you ever get a hold of an original Japanese market one, or the reissue, you would find them. Someone in Canada in the early 2000's did resin replicas of the part and sold it online, but sadly he has since passed away. I'm surprised no one else has replicated the part since
I had a go at modeling one, albeit without having the correct part to hand, just working from bad photos and guesswork. It sorta worked on my FR megatron. I could upload it to thingiverse I suppose. Would be great if someone with a JP Megatron could upload some crisp photos!
You’re making a mascot and inadvertently giving all the worst parts of Megatron the fixes they need. I had to source an arm from Australia to Canada to fix mine! Brilliant!
You got lucky! That plastic that they used for the trigger area and what goes around the head gets extremely brittle. I had one that every time I made a fix, it would break somewhere else. It suffers from that "Gold Plastic Syndrome", and would break wherever you could see a swirl on it.
If you end up fabricating or using 3d printed parts for these, you may want to consider leaving them the wrong colour, as that would make them stand out more for the logo purposes. White styrene would match the Ultramagnus parts as well. For more complex sculpted parts that are difficult to fabricate like hands, you may want to try simple Oyumaru/BlueStuff molds to replicate them in epoxy putty with inserted styrene pegs. That's probably a lot more interesting than loose or 3d printed parts, and seems to fit in more with your style.
The front part is removed from top. I had taken it apart. Where the screw screws in was shattered. I drilled an glued in a Lego antenna that I drilled hole threw. Then used original screw hold it on. A pain in a
Great video as always! I actually knocked mine over the other day the scope shattered into a million pieces. I ended up ordering a repro one cuz I’m not willing to pay those crazy prices . Kind of a rubbish toy but the gun mode is iconic
@ EBay. There’s a few people who make 3D printed ones. I can’t speak to their quality as I haven’t received it yet. I have no doubt you could craft something though
I wish I had this video in 1986 when I snapped Megatron's arm off straight out the box on Christmas Day. The shop were out of stock when my parents took him back so they swapped him for a Gobot Command Centre 😢
I think battle damaged and cool toy gun for sight to replace cannon and id paint face bit of battle damage there like in the movie where did ypu get the sticker sheet heat transfer
I can't imagine it would be very difficult for you to make a gun sight that would be passable. The official one is far too big for the robot mode and looks rather silly. I be you could fashion something from black plastic rigid tubing. Maybe something that comes at the center of a roll of plastic bags. I know the poop bags I buy for my dog have small black plastic tubes that might work quite well for this purpose.

Mega Gone! Perfect!!😂🤣😂

I think they look great. Who needs perfect toys!
I had both of these. Loved them.
Me too, nowadays Megatron would probably have to have a great big orange safety bit to differentiate it from a real weapon lol!!
Outstanding as always. Well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey Dave
Great fixes. I like the new music line up for TP2.
Take care😊

In my opinion you’ve got 2 great ideas that would go well together: “Opti-mess Past-his-prime.”
Have to say. Amazing Fix on the Legs there. Just sellotape. Brilliant. It really is an issue with the G1 Megatrons.
As a Robot he looks better posed without the Barrel. Nice fix indeed, he was destined for the bin but not in your hands.
Excellent work!

@ where would be a good place to upload such photos?
You can post and chat on Patreon. Cheers
Fantastic Dave as always thanks mate
Glad you enjoyed it
I'd go with 'Megaworn'
Both names are perfect!👍🏻
Thanks 👍
It would be fitting for mega gone to have a custom gun/arm since the figure already has a “toy polloi 2 custom look” w/o the painted face and whatnot.
An awesome job, nice work, mate! A built-in washer, is called a captive washer.😊
Cant wait to see Megatron rebuilt
Names for them "Mega-Gone " suits him and maybe " Past his Optimal Prime "
Could you make his barrel from polystyrene? That certainly would fit the kit-bash aesthetic
Or maybe a Dollar store toy.

KOs and dollar store transforming robots are a great source for kit bashing FYI.

The canon is available online for 3d printing
Great video! For a name, how about “Mess o’ Tron” (or Mess O’Tron if he’s Irish?)
Great video as always! I actually knocked mine over the other day the scope shattered into a million pieces. I ended up ordering a repro one cuz I’m not willing to pay those crazy prices . Kind of a rubbish toy but the gun mode is iconic
Oh, that's a shame. Where did you order you repro from?
@ EBay. There’s a few people who make 3D printed ones. I can’t speak to their quality as I haven’t received it yet. I have no doubt you could craft something though
I'll also check my TF G1 spares. I might have a gun barrel spare. Not 💯 on that though.
Ahhh , no Lego involved, I had him nailed on as called Lego-tron 😂
I wish I had this video in 1986 when I snapped Megatron's arm off straight out the box on Christmas Day. The shop were out of stock when my parents took him back so they swapped him for a Gobot Command Centre 😢
The arms are particularly weak on this figure. The command centre is pretty cool, but it's not Megatron!
I think battle damaged and cool toy gun for sight to replace cannon and id paint face bit of battle damage there like in the movie where did ypu get the sticker sheet heat transfer
Thanks. I will see what I can make. Stickers are from toyhax.com
Beggar-Tron!
When toys didn't have to have stupid orange safety tips to prove they were not real guns. Not a Nerf dart in sight either.
It would be cool if you could figure out a way to make a gun barrel. If anybody can do it it's you Dave.
Pastimus Prime?
Palotimusi Prime

how about optimess pasthisprime as the full name for the truck
Dang my Megs has the broken hole in the arm….
Does your electric drill go through soft metal like wargames figures are made of?
I've not tried.
Old Primer
Optimess Past-His-Prime mis a great name
Ahh , No Lego involved, I was nailing him on as being called Lego-tron 😂
Surely someone has said it already... Swaptimus Prime?
my comments are not working ?
I can see this 👀
I’ve had one instantly disappear also
Mine are hit and miss today too
Excellent video Dave do u fix up or know much about tiempo wild west sets?
I don't. Not a line I know anything about.
@ToyPolloiTwo no worries pal
