    Hey Jamie...Thanks for providing the latest cutting edge info on FSE. I've used various builders and themes. But I began seeing the handwriting on the wall with Blocks and wanted to stay on top of the future of web site building. However, I couldn't find anybody that was really consistent with the info...until I ran across your tutorials. So appreciative. Thanks, again.

    Super helpful information, thanks! PS If you use a mac, the native 'Preview' has an incredibly powerful toolbar buried within it, that you can use to get awesome cut-outs ;) It's ancient but powerful! Open an image using preview, go to view, select 'show markup toolbar', then use the second tool, magic wand 'instant alpha' and play about with it. Select parts of the image, and delete them - you get wild cutouts with great control.

    Guttenberg and WP newly implemented site frontend editor has a long way to go before I consider using it for any type of web development.

    Hi Jamie amazing video! Now I struggle a little bit to learn to work with FSE editor. I hope I can set font family too in the block settings? The standard gutenberg has only settings fot font color and size. What disturb me at most is you create a page "home" then set a big title for that page or your webinar with your keyword..but the "home" title always show up on that page, it looks very weird, you can hide this via custom css.Very weird to have two page titles showing up.
    I not found a way to fix this.
    Have nice day!

    • @jamiewp
      @jamiewp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi , use the create block theme plugin to add your own fonts . To create a custom home page , create a new page template in the site editor , without the post title block, then set this as the page template when creating your page :)

    Wonderful tutorials!
    I'm trying to move from Elementor to the built-in WP new Editor.
    1. Can you please show how to get rid of the title / name of the page), for example: "About Us" so it won't appear?
    2. Also how to make the Header & Footer transparent so they will sitting above the website background and not with a blank color?
    In Elementor these things are pretty much automatically out of the box, but in the new WP Editor, maybe there are some free plugins needed?
    Thanks ahead!

    I've decided to go all In with Full site editing. I built a site using just template parts. Which is great for easily updating content across your full site. I have struggled to dynamically pull in ACF content though, Especially images. I'm sure there's a way, but I haven't found it yet.
    I also found yoast couldn't use the template parts to calculate the seo content.

    • @jamiewp
      @jamiewp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's interesting about yoast - can i check this was on the final outputted page?

    • @gazrobbo
      @gazrobbo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamiewp yes, I built a template for landing pages, using multiple template parts which contain lots of text and some dynamic/ACF fields.
      when you check each individual page, the word count is zero on Yoast.
      This is on a "local" site, but I don't think that should make any difference

    So, I'm testing this Wabi-Sabi theme (great name) and
    First Contentful Paint is 1.7 s
    Largest Contentful Paint
    is 2.6 s
    The Hello theme
    First Contentful Paint is 2.3 s
    Largest Contentful Paint
    is 2.3 s
    I have found this to be consistent with all FSE themes. They are faster to first paint, but then take a long time to load the largest paint and it gets progressively worse on more complex pages, compared to a regular, super-lite theme.
    Any idea why this is happening and if there's a way to reduce the LCP?
    Thank you for the great vid and info

    i started using this for one site thanks to you. i'm also understanding FSE more by watching (and re-watching) our videos. one problem i'm finding, and lots of other people seem to share this frustration: we are stuck with whatever fonts are provided with the theme. and frankly, that ain't much. apparently if i were coding-savvy & knew how to hack themese.json (and where to upload the right kind of font file), then i could do this. but that's not me, and it's not a lot of people.
    is it possible to add more fonts? the old plugins don't seem to work (OMGF, Custom Fonts, etc). are we stuck with a single sans serif until the WP developers decide they will allow us more? (i understand there are google-related issues thanks to the EU, but honestly....)
    thanks in advance, i hope!

    Hey Jamie, I was just wondering why none of the biggest Themes for WP have FSE, except for the WP 2022 Theme? Is the pace of WP change coming too fast or do the developers see FSE as negatively affecting their ability to make as much money? I thought I would ask you because you are also a developer.

    • @jamiewp
      @jamiewp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, there's a mixture of reasons , but its a great question. I know that some of bigger theme players will be adding FSE theme support to their themes, but I imagine they'll wait until wordpress 6 before fully embracing FSE.

  • @hemantakakati1103

    Do you think now there will be no market for themes, as now anyone can create theme in FSE, I'm a developer, was learning conventional way of making themes by code, now it seems I wasted my time, I dont know if should I continue to learn to develop theme, very confusing time fr me...

    • @jamiewp
      @jamiewp  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, yes there will definately be a market for new themes in my opinion - but i'd recommend you focus on learning how to build block themes as that's where the market growth will be.

    • @OS-yg9fr
      @OS-yg9fr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      as a consumer of themes -- yes, there are many people who want to quickly start a website without coding, etc. i look for a new theme for every business/project i work on..which is several times a year. non-coders/entrepreneurs are always on the look out for fresh ones.

    Uh one thing def lacking is modern dynamic and engaging on scroll content and style. It just looks like a bland boring template. Just saying.

    • @michaelbuddy
      @michaelbuddy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "engaging scroll" except that the scroll effects are confusing at first, then absolutely annoying once you've seen it. What you call engaging is really just disruption. Eats up video memory, eats up system memory, stalls computers, steals control from the user, and frankly still isn't as good as plain video motion. Scroll effects 99.9% of the time are a negative and executed poorly.
      Absolutely nobody likes scrolly effects in the usable web. Nobody. Fast load and boring are preferred by anyone who wants to actually use something. If you absolutely want "fancy scrolly garbage" why would you depend on a wordpress theme to do it for you? Create your own custom page, with custom CSS and at least put in the work to annoy your visitors. Make sure and add a bunch of tracking because clearly you want to further annoy your visitors with popups asking permission for that tracking, and make sure and popup a few more things such as newsletter subscribe, and mouse-off viewport dialogs. Becuase that's Web Stylist pro tips right?
