Had to comment. I just bought one of these today. It is my first Harley. I have always been a sportbike guy. Interestingly you mentioned in your video that it might interest guys who are "used to Z1000's and bikes like that". What is my other bike? A 2015 Z1000!! Haha... this was the first Harley that I have liked. You called it!
Appreciate you taking the time to do the video. Decent power output with just the pipe and filter, very nice. Still waiting on delivery of mine, hopefully here within the next week in time for the nice weather. As I mentioned in one of your other videos, I totally agree with you on the bars, even the stock bars off a 883 or 48 would be so much better than the roadsters, the first mod I will make that's for sure plus some bar end mirrors. Anyway thanks again, look forward to more videos of the bike.
Finally picked up my bike a couple days ago, first thing I did was install some V&H bars I had lying around that were originally for a XR1200X , they fit the Roadster perfectly. I have put a few miles on the bike now and I am getting use to the mid controls but they do grid out easy so I am still toying with some kind of rear set in the future.
I added the Lucky Daves bars to mine, with a stage 4 screamin' eagle kit and heavy breather a/c. Still doing the break in, again. But try the Lucky Daves bars! Made the bike feel perfect.
Nice power output! That'll be fun to ride for sure. Some people think you MUST have 150 horses to go fast...naw, just have a lot of torque and it'll be plenty fast. Got to agree on the bars...first time I saw them in a picture I thought 'man...your knees are going to be banging into your elbows on that thing. Wonder if just rotating the bars upward wouldn't make a huge difference in how they feel? For some reason, someone somewhere thinks that pointing the bar ends downward is a good idea. My Suzuki was horrible that way, but adjustable clip-ons and now it's an all day ride with them set to fit my shoulder width. Pretty bike and let's hope good sales encourages Harley to move more toward the 'sporting' side of things. Like...how about a V-Rod cafe?:)
You should really consider rear-set controls since that would allow you to bring your feet/legs closer in and improve ground/handlebar clearance in the process. My current Sportster has clip-on bars and rear-set controls and I have to say the ergos are a vast improvement.
Great looking profile and lines on this bike........in my opinion, this is the only modern Harley to buy and own, cause it still uses the proven, EVOLUTION, engine design. The four cams are driven by METAL GEAR DRIVE, not with two roller chain drives, like on the all the Twin Cam engines, which each drive, uses a PLASTIC cam chain tensioner, designed to wear out and have to be periodically inspected and replaced for wear, or risk, having the hydraulic cam tensioner and the roller chain, making metal to metal contact, and having the metal shavings, enter the oil pump and into the crankcase and cylinders and crater the engine, immediately. In addition, the Sporty uses a right side final belt drive which is easy and inexpensive to change out, as opposed to the time consuming and very expensive final belt change out on the Twin Cam, Harleys. Finally, since '04, all Sporty engines, have rubber mounted engines, thus virtually eliminating the annoying vibration, which used to rattle ones back teeth out on the Sporty, in years past. Enjoy your bike for years to come.
nice ride, how tall are you ? I've a buell thunderbolt I've riden since 2003, looking for a bike to slam in the corners... yep I'm getting older but still like some fun !!
Thanks for the review...I like this bike, Comfort? I am 6' and about 190 pounds..... Do you think the mid mounts would be ok for someone my size? Gotta get a demo ride on one of these... Great mods and almost 80 hp is pretty good.
+Evan Robertson I Just bought the '17 Roadster and am currently breaking it in. I changed the driver pegs and am also looking to raise the handlebars at least 1 inch. 2 questions: How high did you raise the handlebars on this bike (I am 5' 10")? Were there any issues with the cables when modding the bars?
Evan Robertson thanks for the response. What's your height btw? I'm trying to gauge your riding position. Do you find you're more upright after the mod?
Evan Robertson Sweet, man. That is what I want. Any reason you went with those handlebars as opposed to the other stuff out there? If you don't want me filling up your comments we can switch to email or whatever
How tall are these rear shocks?? My 05 Roadster I put on 13.5's and I wonder if this exhaust would hit on mine. I've always wanted it but never bought it because I'm cheap lol.
+Evan Robertson yea so my 05 would technically rub slightly worse then. I'm glad harley made the roadster this way though. I did all the suspension crap to mine and it made it handle alot better..but getting it right from the factory is sweet.
The Very Large air cleaner, $1,000 performance exhaust, and professional dyno tuning using Dynojet's Power Vision form a winning combination Also, factory ECM tuning is EXTREMELY lean, designed for making good mileage numbers and keeping the bike's emissions at a minimum. It is NOT mapped for performance from the factory. I think if you put a Power Vision tune on a stock 1200 it would gain at least 5~ish hp.
picked one up about a month ago. put up some sounds my friend, I went with the same set up as you, roland sand slant 2 into one, same rail filter, and reflash. its retarded fun, still have a 2005 roadster as well.anyways, that's mine :)th-cam.com/video/JwfXHhIBKhQl/w-d-xo.htmlong live the 1200r

I like those, a little less extreme than their full on rear set that look slick and give a lot more clearance. Thanks for the link!

Good info on the Stage 1. Mine is still stock and will address that maybe in the winter.
What an amazing bike. And the subtle mods you have added make it even better. Thanks for sharing this with us. tcrs
Nice video...I have also roadster 1200 from 2006 and I wouldn't swap it for any H-D :)
intend to pick one up bout a week or so.glad for the info.especially before i buy.a 2016

OMG just stop to talk, and turn it on!! _O_!

Cool. Who makes the rear sets??
Roland Sands or Chainsikle
James Battaglia Thank you. I like your scoot.

I've never ridden a motorcycle before, I want to learn how to ride one. Is this a good starter motorcycle? because I love it!.... thanks!
Great video, very informative, but please invest on a DJI Osmo or Ronin for a smooth and stable video 😉
I've been looking at one of these since it came out but there will be others In 2020 when I'm 16 to do my cbt. If laws don't change again
amazing bike! Love the exhaust on it. weird question but any issues with the seat wearing the paint finish where it meets the tank?
What slight modifications did you do to the exhaust to get it to fit?
Love the look of it, might get it for my roadster.
Thanks for sharing your setup! Are those long stem rear view mirrors?

It sounds amazing
absolutly love the bike
Would you recommend this for a newer rider, or should I get the 883? Reason I ask is because this bike sits quite a. It taller and I'm 6'4
What are those smoked turn signal lenses called? Thank you
***** Can you use them for front and rear? Thank you
Can you have a passanger on the roadster stock?
can u please put links of all your mods
GET THE BILTWELL TRACKER BARS , I LIKE THIS BIKE A LOT!!!
hi EVAN !
What accessories?
What brand
Beautiful roadster

Love it man!
How did you get 79 horsepower with just an exhaust and air cleaner? Most that Dyno say a 1200 is around 56 horsepower stock.
The Very Large air cleaner, $1,000 performance exhaust, and professional dyno tuning using Dynojet's Power Vision form a winning combination

@@EvanRobertsonHD1 Awesome! Gives me a goal to shoot for on mine.
That tank needs lowering imo, the bars look a lot lower because of this.
Does it run 😆
I WANT THAT FORK!!!
I want a HD, love the sound of v twins but these bikes are so weak
Estimated top Speed?
120 mph modded. And stock mode, 120 mph too? Thanks
Go 'head, Shreveport/Bossier!
Ride Safe.
No the motorcicle
