i definitely agree yes him liking ladybug is what is holding him back/sort of blinding him but keep in mind mari was one of his first friends from school, ever since the 2nd day of school and that umbrella scene they built such a good friendship and adrien doesn’t take his friendships for granted, if he were to lose marinette as a friend it would break him like he said in puppeteer 2 she’s important to him and that he wants her to feel good around him and that confessing feelings that they are more than a friend is taking A BIG STEP cause you never know what will happen and adrien is scared

I have a theory I would like to share. In “New York, United Hero’s” Cat noir hands Ladybug a deep yellow rose. He explains that this rose represents “friendship.” I looked up what all the colors of roses represents. A light yellow represents “friendship” and a yellow rose with red tips represents “friendship and falling in love.” Because the rose Cat Noir gave Ladybug is a darker yellow, you can potentially see some darker spots that may look red. So my theory is that Cat Noir gave Ladybug a yellow rose with red tips!

I think that Adrien just doesn’t know the difference between a crush and love. He never had any friends growing up, and the first friend he made (even before he met Nino) was ladybug, and he fell in love with her very quickly. He was taken aback and interested in her at first, and realised his love a little later, sure, but that doesn’t beat the fact that he fell for her quickly, without ever thinking it was just a “crush.” What he knows about love is probably stuff he’s learned from movies, books, sometimes video games since he plays a lot of them, and those don’t represent real life too much. So, his view of love is skewed. I think he DOES have a crush on Marinette, or feels the same way about her that he did when he *first* met ladybug (when she fell into him and then apologised for being clumsy - which is VERY similar to what Marinette is like on a daily basis. Coincidence? I think not.) but he just doesn’t realise that it’s a crush, because he thinks that the only kind of true romance there is is actual love.

I definitely agree! Without his mom around, he isn’t being shown affection, care, and nurture as much as kids normally his age. However I think he can recognize love. He was able to recognize the subtle spark between Nathalie has for Gabriel and we can see this though her unyielding loyalty. I know this is later in season 3 but couldn’t he have been able to see Marinette’s obvious crush being developed like the development between nathalie and Gabriel?
Wait, if you think about it Adrien and Gabriel are very alike the relationship category. I think Gabriel has developed feelings for Nathalie but it overshadowed by the mission and love for his wife. Even though Adrien doesn’t know about his mom, Gabriel was very dismissive about a relationship with Nathalie like how Adrien says “marinette is a just a friend”. I don’t know how much this relates or makes sense but just some thoughts I’m sharing!

I just genuinely think he's afraid to loose another person he loves so he blocks out the emotion of romantic love and replaces it with a friendship love. He 'lost' his mom, he lost his dad cause he doesn't even acknowledge him since his mom "disappeared", and in a way, he lost Ladybug cause she's in love with "another" person, not him(as in Chat). I also found it weird how the animators decided to put marinette and adrien in that placement when the scene was supposed to be adrien giving nino advice. They didn’t have to put marinette into the shot when adrien says “i love you marinette.” To me, i saw this scene as the animators’ way of giving us a hint to adrien’s true feelings towards marinette, even if adrien isn’t exactly conscious of those feelings yet.

Another theory- In the episode “Princess Fragrance,” Chloe takes Tikki - she’s does not know what a kwami is at this point and thinks it’s a toy- and Marinette runs after and says it belongs to her! 3. In the episode “Ladybug” where mayura makes the centi monster, ladybug and chat could have escaped and lb could have taken Mayuras miraculous ! The plan of hawkmoth was to wait until they detransformed. Sitting there would have been bad, but doing something abt it would have been fine, there was nothing holding her back! Only hawk lmoth had something to loose! Chat would have been perfectly fine!
4. Amile knows abt Emile not being missing... she wants the rings back and if Emily was missing there would be no way for her to have both of them

i actually noticed it alot in the series where they use the word “love” instead of having feelings for someone. it was definitely strange but it could be because of translations since mlb is a french show.. it could be that the language french has a different way of expressing love and compassion for someone than how english values it!
also adrien almost has no social background at all so he has no way to describe his feelings. he likes to express it with ladybug and it could be cause he feels more comfortable. even when hes with kagami, he tried really hard but he also cant read the signals well. adrien cant even see marinettes obvious signals so seeing her as a friend is actually very valuable for him since he never really had friends. so id feel bad if people made fun of him just for valuing his friendships. we know that the show toys with us with the adrienette ship so for now we just hope theyll end up together anyway !!

I'm a just put this out there because why not. Why don't they make a sentimonster of Emilie Agreste? I don't remember which episodes this evidence is from but remember when Mayura made a sentimonster of Ladybug? The ladybug ended up betraying her and had a mind of it's own. Also, we know that the peacock miraculous is damaged and that might affect Mayura's ability to make a sentimonster because it would make her weak. But Hawkmoth has the book and he said he would be able to fix the miraculous. Also, we see that the sentimonster is still able to be alive without the peacock miraculous holder having to be in form every second. remember the sentimonster that killed all of the guardians of the miraculous's. Master fu then took off the peacock miraculous and the sentimonster was still there. So, why not make a sentimonster of Emilie? Also, if you say WHY we need to make Emilie a sentimonster, i mean it could make Gabriel satisfied that "his wife" is back and maybe he might stop being Hawkmoth? Or maybe make the sentimonster alive until Emilie wakes up?
First, if it takes a mind of its own its still a sentimonster so it can get destroyed if Natalie takes her away from jealousy. He has a book to fix the miraculous but only a guardian can read it. (Which is ladybug) but it is possible for her to do that, but then ladybug will have to read it and if she hears it’s for Gabriel’s wife then she will know he’s hawkmoth. So in that case, hawkmoth won’t go through with it.

Honestly I feel like Adrien just doesn't know that 2 types of love exist. Like he never really talked to anybody outside of Chloe and his family. I also feel like this episode shows how Adrien doesn't understand the difference between having a crush on someone and being in love with someone considering what he told Nino and his clearly repressed feelings for Marinette. It also shows one of the first real signs of Adrien being in love with Marinette without him realizing it, especially when you look at the way his face is when he says it and how he stares at the picture of Marinette and her family later in the episode.

Adrien i- he realized it was Marinette like 5 millon times but the fact that he didn't even try to dig deeper is just angering me and "ladybug" has the same hair and vice ad Marinette how do you not notice that?!
I think Adrien told Nino to confess his 'love' and not just as a crush is maybe due to him being closed off from the world for so long. In the episode Origins, he didn't even know how to react when the teacher called his name, so how can we expect him to know about the diversity of romantic feelings if he doesn't even know the most basic of things? It doesn't help that neither of his parents are active in his life (his mother has disappeared, to him at least, and his father is extremely distant). Also, they're technically still kids, and we all know how kids perceive love as this one time thing that never goes wrong or something like that. Who knows?

Definiflty I think this could be something, and the fact that they put them facing each other seem important in a way. I have also seen other scenes where the keep for instance last bug and cat noir holding hands in the shot as well. I definitely think this scene shows something between them even though it’s pretty early in the show.

Also in the episode evilistator, cat noir calls Marrinete “Mi lady.” This could either mean 2 things. Cat noir knows ladybug is marionette or his subconscious comes in. And it’s quite obvious that cat noir doesn’t know ladybug’s identity.

personally, i thinks adrien does love marinette but because he was shut away from the world by his dad, he is trying to cling on to the concept of friends because he has few and the friendship is still pretty recent. also he prolly just wants to stay loyal to his lady

I definitely think it was Adrien genuinely reciting it for Marinette, not helping Nino on what to say. It was like you said, it was very genuine and it seemed very real, his affection for her, but he doesn’t realize it yet 😢

It’s annoying how Adrien can’t even see the resemblance of “two perfectly kind hearted people” that look exactly the same!!!! He needs to realize it soon!
Usually when someone likes someone else, but know they can’t be with them or are currently with someone else keeping them from being with the second person they like, they will try to set someone else up with the second person they like. In Adrian’s case, he could secretly be in love with Marinette, but because of ladybug, he doesn’t see those feelings he has for her. I believe he may have used Nino as a talking vessel to show his love of Marinette without feeling like he cheated on ladybug. (Hopefully this makes sense and isn’t too confusing)

Chat/Adrien wishing marinette was ladybug:
when adrien comes to the idea that marinette is ladybug (excluding the oblivio and chat blanc episode) he doesn’t seem mind it. I think 2 or three times he had the idea she’s ladybug and he doesn’t seem to mind it at all (and on the inside I bet he kinda hopes she is ladybug). In one of the episodes in season one (lady WiFi) there’s a suspicion that Chloe is ladybug and adrien/chat hates the idea of it. Idk I just thought it’s funny how adrien doesn’t mind that fact that marinette might be ladybug and probably deep down wish’s she was her.
Marinette/ladybug not wanting chat to me adrien:
A I don’t think ladybug/marinette wants adrien to be chat because in the chat blanc episode when she’s trying to figure out how chat figured out she was ladybug she comes to the conclusion that adrien must of told someone who told a bunch of other people and that’s how chat found out she was ladybug. She never even came to the idea that adrien is chat and that’s how chat found out most likely means she doesn’t really want adrien to be chat.

It reminds me of how marinette in season 4 acted when she discovered that Kagami and Adrien broke up. She wanted to make Kagami fall in love with adrien again because Marinette was in total denial of her feelings towards Adrien and thus wanted to live through Kagami
