Thanks for doing this. I LOVE vintage Vegas and that's one of the few places left. The exterior signage screams history. As far as modern things go, I love the room key wristband! And, an in-room fridge too!! AND, a FREE ride to the airport! Wow!!
It's such a gem. We counted at least 4 different couples doing photo shoots for their wedding in the few moments we were outside during golden hour. It's just a beautiful spot and screams vintage vegas. :)
So nice to see the Cortez get the much needed love. A few years back, you would have never thought about staying more than a few minutes there!! Now with the recent renovations, its yet another gem in downtown.
We love Elcortez. We have been staying here since 2010. Every trip we always stay here. As far as the Fiesta Room, it used to be where the buffet was. So when that closed, it’s used for weddings and receptions and special events. We have hosted Grannyfest there for the last 3 years. We stay in the suites and they are great and we have also been put up in the Jackie suite as well. That is fantastic. So glad you got to review Elco. They are all great there and we highly recommend it to 🎉🎉

Just saw your comment and it sounds like you've stayed in a lot of rooms. Just out of curiosity, did you ever experience any hauntings, etc.? Staying for my first time in March at the original 47 suites and I've seen so many rumors about hauntings and now I'm apprehensive. 😂

The El Cortez is a Go-To for me. I've Always been treated like Royalty while I'm there. The Staff & Management are always accommodating, friendly & take care of all my needs. Last time I was there though, the Prime Rib Dinner was $7.95. 😋
Fantastic tour of our downtown favorite location and people whenever we are in Las Vegas. I am glad you showed the menu to the restaurant. Probably the only casino on planet earth that offers Matzo Brie and Loco Moco on the same menu, which tells you they cater to their customers traditional favorites. El Cortez is a gem, and I hope they never change.
The El Cortez is the FIRST casino hotel my husband and I first went to in Las Vegas. This was back in early 2000! We stayed at the old rooms above the casino floor. The floors creaked in the hallway and inside the room! It was that old. But your video brings back lots of memories. Years later we were vacationing in London. This was around 2017. Our hotel was in Knightsbridge, and a short walk to Harrod's. A small but quaint travel agency was situated across from Harrod's. In the agency's window was a placard offering a vacation package to London. A fast flight to Las Vegas and a stay at a luxurious hotel casino. Upon reading the print, the luxurious hotel casino was the El Cortez!
Always a great place , My favorite are the original 47 , The vintage rooms , With period correct furniture , Don't do the cabana yet, stay in vintage rooms . Great breakfast in that place , Great job guys take care

Ya! Container Park is right across the street. I did a whole bit about the places I like that are within a block or two from the hotel but took it out to focus more on the hotel itself since the video was getting long. Its a great spot for bar hopping though!
I recall the El Cortez had their poker game on the casino floor instead of in a poker room, right next to the craps and black jack table. It was $1-3 limit 7 card stud no ante, circa 1999.
It's been a bit since I've been up that way. It used to be a sketchy walk but being a history buff, I had to make the trek. Hopefully it's a lot better. I have got to say, their rooms look a lot better than some I've stayed in on Freemont! That Bison burger...I'd be all over that!!! Hope to be out in March before we head to spring training so...depending on your advice on the area, we'll be hitting this place! If for whatever reason you come to Wisconsin, we have, hands down the best Ole Fashions in the Nation. While it may not have originated here, we perfected it!
It's hard to say. I go out there pretty often and some days it feels sketchy and others I feel totally comfortable. Though, I do also go often by myself when Im filming too so it can't be to bad if I feel safe enough to do that. I am from LA tho. Hah.

During a vacation to Las Vegas I HAD to play at the El Cortez, just because it was classic old school Vegas. I saved a chip from there, and I think I bought some used playing cards too.
My father was one of the original owners of the El Cortez. Though a minor investor. The two top owners were Marion Hicks and J K Housels. Later, the hotel was sold to Bugsy Siegle and Myer Lansky.
Well done. What an icon of vintage Vegas. Everyone should go there and give them some business to keep them alive. We stopped in last time and enjoyed its charm and great history. We do want to stay a couple of overnights, and will report if we witness any ghosts! Cheers.
I 100 percent agree. We frequent a few bars & music venues close by and always drop in for the margarita and vibes. The passion to preserve the history at the hotel is so cool and rare.
We really enjoyed it. I only wish the lounge had entertainment that night because I always enjoy happy hour at the Parlour Bar with their lounge singers.
I never sleep in the quiet I always have slept with noise since I was a child… Even white noise to drown that out… Interesting that it wasn't Fremont Street but a rooftop bar maybe a Molotov cocktail they would've liked?

It is a great place to stay, has great food, and most important to me, a very friendly staff that goes out of there way to make you feel welcomed, and make up for any mishaps that my happen. Looks like a good update for the rooms. But like you I am a very lite sleeper and that is why we have never stayed downtown. But at some point, I want us to stay just for the experience and holy lord that breakfast looked tasty! Thank you for making this one!
Yas! You gotta do it at least once. You'll probably be ok if you request a room on the opposite side of Fremont and a newer room like the tower or even the cabanas.

Whether I th was $9.95 back in the day tob$16.95 today the quality and quantity remained the same. The prime rib special is available available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even late night. Love the old school slots. One of the few places left!
I have always wanted to stay at the El Cortez. The room looks cozy. I like, although it’s an old room, that they have modern amenities. Great job Dani!
there's a lot of places that do the safe right where it's like bolted into the ground or something like that but a lot of them like this are worthless you can just break it out of the wood like I've literally seen them in a drawer before you can break the drawer out
Great video, Im glad you tried the multiple dining options, shows variety and getting a review is key.Especially since not all of the dining options are on property. We visit downtown every trip, but have never stopped at El Cortez. Next trip we will have to stop in there.😊
This is incredible. We love your take on your stay. Last time we were in Vegas in June we stayed at the Golden Nugget but after this I think our next trip will bring a stay at the El Cortez. I'm not sure about doing a video on mocktails.... But hands down my favorite so far was from ' the underground" at the mob museum .I think it was called the test pilot. I've had it twice now!

I noticed that too on all platforms. There was no agreement or anything, I wasnt told I had to give a certain review. I've turned down places that put a requirement. But, I wanted to make sure I can film without getting kicked out since it's one of my favorite spots hah.
@@Dani702 I think the TH-camrs realize that if any TH-camr is too negative they are going to get blacklisted from all the hotels. The hotels also realize the power of social media and they weigh the benefits of the exposure against a possibility of some negative comments. Recently there was a perfect example of a TH-camr who got out of line by posting videos of a new property before it opened. On opening day he showed up and was immediately trespassed from the property. So that sends a warning to everyone else.
Hi Dani, love seeing these historic casinos, and you have such a good time videoing them. I wonder why the balconies are sealed off. Also, is that casino considered haunted? I feel like all the older casinos are said to be haunted. I didn't eat that vibe at all though. No doubt, each of those food spots were great! We will definitely go back to each.
Great review as always!!! Although this is a vintage hotel it looked really nice in the rooms and casino. Restaurants looked very good too. Might have to give it a try there next time I'm in Vegas. Keep up the awesome reviews!!!!
Really enjoyed your video Dani. Well done. El Cortez does look like a nice place to stay. I am not wild about the resort fee as I consider it to be a plain and simple rip-off. Why don't the casinos have just one bottom line price instead of the two tier hotel room fee plus resort fee?

Hello, Sounds like it was a great time, have never been there have always been on the strip, may have to try this next trip.. almost came this weekend (birthday weekend) but getting over a bad knee injury wasn't up to all the walking I know I'd do.. but everything looked great nice room. Food choices (except sushi..lol) I'm very limited there.. keep up with the vintage places, very interesting.. see ya..

I'm not sure about the shuttle from the airport. I saw the mention in the hotel brochure we got when we checked in and it looked like it was to the airport. But worth a call to them for sure!

😊😊😊great tour. Spectacular video. I've stayed in the original rooms..love the history. Also have had the prime rib special. Whether I th was $9.95 back in the day tob$16.95 today the quality and quantity remained the same. The prime rib special is available available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even late night.

I have always wanted to stay at the El Cortez. The room looks cozy. I like, although it’s an old room, that they have modern amenities. Great job Dani!
Cozy is the perfect word. It felt like a studio apartment. We felt very at home and it was a little sad leaving.

If you stay in one of rhe vintage rooms you just take the stairwell up, no waiting for the elevator, which is actually auper underrated

there's a lot of places that do the safe right where it's like bolted into the ground or something like that but a lot of them like this are worthless you can just break it out of the wood like I've literally seen them in a drawer before you can break the drawer out
Great video, Im glad you tried the multiple dining options, shows variety and getting a review is key.Especially since not all of the dining options are on property. We visit downtown every trip, but have never stopped at El Cortez. Next trip we will have to stop in there.😊

This is incredible. We love your take on your stay. Last time we were in Vegas in June we stayed at the Golden Nugget but after this I think our next trip will bring a stay at the El Cortez. We liked seeing you get a mocktail in this video, we drink sometimes but other times a mocktail is perfect. Have you ever thought about doing a video of the best one in Vegas?
I'm not sure about doing a video on mocktails.... But hands down my favorite so far was from ' the underground" at the mob museum .I think it was called the test pilot. I've had it twice now!

Thank you for the video. Had to re-watch from this morning. I love this place. Id rather stay in the main tower than the cabanas. Tiger roll looks delicious. Old fashions are my go to also. The breakfast looks amazing. Stay classy gorgeous lady ✨️
The breakfast was spot on. I was so hungry when I woke up lol. Should have done all you can eat at the sushi but I wanted to show some of each spot. 😉😉

I noticed that too on all platforms. There was no agreement or anything, I wasnt told I had to give a certain review. I've turned down places that put a requirement. But, I wanted to make sure I can film without getting kicked out since it's one of my favorite spots hah.
@@Dani702 I think the TH-camrs realize that if any TH-camr is too negative they are going to get blacklisted from all the hotels. The hotels also realize the power of social media and they weigh the benefits of the exposure against a possibility of some negative comments. Recently there was a perfect example of a TH-camr who got out of line by posting videos of a new property before it opened. On opening day he showed up and was immediately trespassed from the property. So that sends a warning to everyone else.
Hi Dani, love seeing these historic casinos, and you have such a good time videoing them. I wonder why the balconies are sealed off. Also, is that casino considered haunted? Like always, you make me so hungry when you try the food. I wonder which casino food you consider to be the best. Take care. 😊
I feel like all the older casinos are said to be haunted. I didn't eat that vibe at all though. No doubt, each of those food spots were great! We will definitely go back to each.

Really enjoyed your video Dani. Well done. El Cortez does look like a nice place to stay. I am not wild about the resort fee as I consider it to be a plain and simple rip-off. Why don't the casinos have just one bottom line price instead of the two tier hotel room fee plus resort fee?

Hello, Sounds like it was a great time, have never been there have always been on the strip, may have to try this next trip.. almost came this weekend (birthday weekend) but getting over a bad knee injury wasn't up to all the walking I know I'd do.. but everything looked great nice room. Food choices (except sushi..lol) I'm very limited there.. keep up with the vintage places, very interesting.. see ya..
DT is very different then the strip. I love DT. A little rough on the edges but honestly, so its the strip haha. Happy Birthday!!!! I hope your knee heals up quick.

I'm not sure about the shuttle from the airport. I saw the mention in the hotel brochure we got when we checked in and it looked like it was to the airport. But worth a call to them for sure!
