    Why can't all instructional videos be like this one. Clear, concise with no unnecessary exposition. Thank you for your video.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! My printer kept telling me to "close the feed slot cover" and I had no idea what it meant.

    It would probably save you (Canon) and your customers a TON of time if you explained to make sure to select “rear tray” in your print settings. Often times the solution is a simple fix.

    Of course it would be nice if they also showed you how to PRINT from the rear tray! And why can't Canon simply make a BUTTON that toggles between the rear tray and the cassette? It would be SOOOO much better than having to dig down into the software menu while straining to see a tiny, poorly lit screen!!! WHY CANON WHY????

    Thanks for this video. It was easy to follow and understand. I had been printing from the below deck, front loading paper tray, with the rear tray closed and not being used. Then, after re-loading the front loading tray, then turning the printer power on to print a document, the printer out of the blue gave an error message saying the tray had been loaded when the printer was off. I pushed OK. Then I got an error message saying the rear tray was empty and needed to be filled, and the printer would not print as usual from the front tray. That's why I searched for this video, and learned how to load the back tray. Printing again here now, but from the back tray. How do I get the printer to get back to using the front tray, so I can close the back tray and keep dust out of the inside of the printer?

    I don't want it to load paper from the back, but it will not load from the cassette. There is paper in the cassette and none in the rear, yet these people aren't smart enough to figure out how to let the printer know that. So we have to spend hours looking at Google and TH-cam to figure out how to make their junk work.

    Brand new printer. One time in over a dozen I got it to print from the rear tray. It refuses otherwise to print from the rear tray, despite following the instructions to the letter in the above video and reading all of the comments to see if anyone figured out the magic fix. This on top of the scan button does not send scan to my application. It just stares at me dumb after one time on the PC asking what application, but never again (at that time the options to select were blank and there was no browse for an application button--there was only a grayed out okay button and a cancel button). I have to scan from the computer application. What the heck, Canon? You all need to get someone onto the software and firmware and straighten this device out!
    Yeah, I finally got my business cards printed! Below it was suggested for an Apple device to print from a .pdf. I saved my document from Word as a .pdf. Fortunately, everything lined up with the Avery pre-cut paper I had. Was able to print some business cards. But what a kludge! With my old Dell laser printer I could simply put the paper in a front slot and it would know to feed automatically from that. Sadly, Dell stopped supplying toner for it and all of the aftermarket providers' toner is junk--I tried several--leaves streaking and blotching for the one color (black) that I needed.

      Hello. If you're using a Mac, you'll need to ensure you've got the Canon software installed and not just using AirPrint. AirPrint will usually only see one paper tray and have limited functionality with the printer. You can get the software from Canon.us/ijsetup

    I just ruined a sweet little watercolor I had painted by trying to print a humourous line across the top BECAUSE I forgot which way to place the picture into the rear tray and it came out on the bottom upside down. Duh. Now I will tape a note onto the printer with feed-orientation directions. Aside from these instances where this printer is smarter than I am, I do like the thing and have used it extensively. Next time, I'll so a practice run on a copy of the picture (after I paint another one).

    Can you have both paper trays( back feed and bottom feed) set up at the same time ? Does back feed paper tray allow dirt or dust in to the machine... possibly jamming it ? Thank you

    • @CanonUSASupport
      @CanonUSASupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Peter! Yes, you can have both paper trays set up at the same time, and to prevent dust and other debris from getting into your printer, we recommend unloading and closing the rear tray whenever it's not in use. Hope this helps!

    • @CanonUSASupport
      @CanonUSASupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! While both the front cassette and the rear tray can handle plain paper, your printer has a preference for the cassette and will normally use that when there's paper in it. When you print, make sure you're specifying which paper source to use in the printer driver menu.

    Can you please advise. From the rear paper feeder being closed to being fully open, what is the opening measurement/distance? In other words, how much clearance must I have between the machine and wall?

    • @CanonUSASupport
      @CanonUSASupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Lisa! We recommend leaving about 10 inches (25 cm) of clearance behind your printer to accommodate the rear paper tray. That should allow you to load up to legal-sized paper.
      Hope this helps!

    • @lisab3396
      @lisab3396 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CanonUSASupport Thanks for the quick reply. Not to be funny, but I am only interested in the actual measurement of the rear paper feeder when it's open! From the main machine to the absolute outside when fully open. At this point, I'm not concerned with paper clearances. Thanks

    • @CanonUSASupport
      @CanonUSASupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lisab3396 You'll want to allow approximately 7½" for the fully extended rear paper tray, though keep in mind that common paper sizes such as letter-sized and legal-sized paper will extend beyond the end of the paper tray. You'll see a letter-sized sheet of paper doing this in the video at 1:01, so we strongly recommend making allowances for that.
      Glad we could help!

    • @CanonUSASupport
      @CanonUSASupport  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! The PIXMA G7020 is designed to handle plain paper from 17 to 28 lb (64 to 105 gsm) and specialty paper up to 53 lb (200 gsm). Using paper outside of these specifications can cause paper jams.

    I bought this printer th-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 to replace an aging HP printer. It is just used for casual home printing so I don't need anything more. Installation went easily though the HP Smart Printing doesn't work well with our laptops - having to select the actual device. Will have to see how the HP Instant Ink program works out. Plus haven't been able to set up printing from smartphone yet - either direct or WiFi

    This is all well and good, but ever after doing this, and selecting the rear feeder as the paper source, the Canon printer always prints from the cartridge. Nothing will induce it to select the rear tray. It's just a terrible printer.
    UPDATE: A comment here (of all places) from Canon Support led me to try opening a PDF in a different program, which got me to a different print dialog on OSX where I could select the rear feeder as a paper source (doing this on the printer apparently does nothing and probably doesn't need to be there?). Again-worst printer I have ever owned. I spent 2 hours on this.
