There are several adaptations of the same classics, and I think when it comes to fairy tale stories it don't matter. People of color can star in their own movies AND be in reboots. I didn't see complaints when Disney's Cinderella was rebooted a few times, when Maleficent had her own spin-off (with a continuation of Sleeping Beauty) I don't remember any complaints about the casting then. Even when Will Smith was a fictional Genie in "Aladdin" people ate it up. Haille auditioned for Ariel and out of several thousands of people, she got the part because of her talent and personality. Please don't diminish her accomplishment to a diversity quota. Also, support original works too then. There are a lot of good work out there, but if you're also too attached to nostalgia goggles you're just gonna be miserable.

Haille auditioned for Ariel and out of several thousands of people, she got the part because of her talent and personality. Please don't diminish her accomplishment to a diversity quota.
Also, support original works too then. There are a lot of good work out there, but if you're also too attached to nostalgia goggles you're just gonna be miserable.

I can’t even hate on Maleficent as they based on an original back story for her. Probably the only movie I found decent from them. This is how I see it and it’s my opinion.
Aladdin? Didnt care much for it but wasn’t awful but that CGI for genie was awful. Lion King? Awful. Mulan? Tragedy. Pinocchio was also a flop as well. This is how I see it and it’s opinion.
Unfortunately just her won’t be able to carry the movie. It’s shilling from Disney since they decided to do the same with Peter Pan and making Tinkerbell black and invalidating Wendy to something she’s not. Trailers alone I found her delivery of lines to be flat, but again my opinion. 🤷🏾♀️

Ariel and all her sisters are all different races. Ariel has 6 sisters, One is an Asian women, another will be Indian, and another will be indigenous. And the king who is a white man his mother will be black. And I’m not trying to be funny or anything… but it wouldn’t make sense to make him black because majority of black men doesn’t like black women.
I mean, Ariel is very clearly mixed and King Triton is played by a Latino man soo...?
