  • Tissot is a brand with a lot of heritage. Today it is owned by Swatch Group and is the entry-level Swiss brand. Motorsports play a big part in Tissot's history and the PRS 516 is a integral part of the brand's take on motor inspired timepieces.

    As Hamilton watches move upmarket, Tissot is the real affordable Swiss watch option. I have always loved Tissot, particularly their vintage chronographs. Thanks for the review, Anders.

    Have had this one for about a year now. Many others have been added to my collection, but time and time again i find it on my wrist. It's different, it's got the racing vibe (steering wheel rotor) and is sans the typical chrono complication which is fine. A "beater" ? Great dial, PM 80 with Nivachron, ceramic bezel, quality bracelet...hardly. They now sell for $450.00 and it's worth every penny

    Great review of a superb watch - I have the exact same watch and am so impressed with the build quality. Feels very high end and equal to a Tag in my opinion. In fact, I was so impressed with this watch that I recently bought the triple seconds version (T100.428.16.051.00) which is another fantastic watch from Tissot. By the way, you say that the sapphire glass is completely flat but it I would say it has a subtle dome to it - Nicely done.

    Hi Anders, thank you for the review. This piece now came out of nowhere and became a nice favourite, lol.
    I have an idea/feedback for the channel. Hopefully when this Corona crisis is over, I think It'd be a nice feature if you go to Swissexpo or similar watch exhibitions and shoot a vlog for subscribers. You may set meetings with sales staff to shoot some exclusive professional content, rather than random over the counter videos that we see seldom.
    I think it'd be nice to see you giving your first impressions on watches from different budget leagues. Thus you can introduce more hi-end pieces with relatively lower budget. I suppose such vlogs may bring new subscribers, as well. It's a budgetary questions at the end but perhaps it's worth it. Please consider.
    Again, thank you for the nice review. Regards,
    Umut

    I have the same model but it has a carbon fiber bezel and a black rubber strap. My version also has blue accents instead of yellow. It's definitely a really cool watch, very accurate and comfortable to wear. I also use it as my daily watch since it's so versatile. Cheers.

    Beautiful watch, but, just for the sake of true, there are 4 different Powermatic 80 movement types, all based on ETA C07 caliber (2824-2). So, not actually "in-house" but "in-group" :-). The Powermatic 80 is not equipped with a regulating system. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the movement is impossible to adjust, but good luck finding a watchmaker who will want to work on it...

    Since they turned down the vph to 21k the second hand movement isnt as smooth as that of one with 28k vph. Dont you have an issue with that since movement is why one would buy an automatic watch in the first place?

    • @TimeAndCrown
      @TimeAndCrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Vishal. No I think the lower bph is a good trade for getting 80 hours of power reserve compared to the 40-42 you get with the ETA 2824. But more movements now offer 4hz beat rate with 70-72 hours of power reserve so Swatch Group need to update the Powermatic movement.

    Though I appreciate the review in itself for its completeness, presenting a $600-900 MSRP watch as a 300$ one feels misleading.

      @@TimeAndCrown Certainly, you could get 30 to 50% easily... by buying on the web, on more or less distant sites, to more or less professional or accessible sellers. With more or less trouble accessing the warranty in case of trouble, and an increased risk of counterfeit. Which isn't what people'd expect, and is why grey market prices can't be used as official price, IMO.

  • @worltrader5948
    @worltrader5948 ปีที่แล้ว

    it got inflated to $445, where can I get it for $300? for $425 I rather go get a steinhart homage sub at least it can be used in a real beach/ dive watch.

  • @ovidiub7316
    @ovidiub7316 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hmmm... I got some mixed feelings toward this piece.
    The most irritating thing is their "T" logo on the second hand. Looks hideous, like a rotating out-of-control hammer. It always gives me dizziness. It's the main reason why I keep ignoring this brand.
    Let's be honest. This is not a racing watch. Rather a classy sporty one. Without rotation, the outer bezel is useless. The day/date complication ruins dial's symmetry. I would have been preferred only date, at 6 o'clock.
    Butterfly clasp looks nice BUT it has no secure element, which is a pity.
    Lume looks like a disaster, especially on hour markers.
    Also, from a Swiss brand, i was expecting a thinner overall watch.
    The only positive aspects I can see so far is sapphire and ceramic insert. Also Powermatic 80 is nice, BUT it sacrifices the bph rate... Some say the hairspring is more fragile on this Powermatic movement.
    So, overall, it's an easy pass for me, considering the above mentioned aspects and the fact that it doesn't bring any originality.

    guys, we need to stop this non sense "i go holiday and forget the date" you have at least 3,4 gadgets in your pocket and or your car which can tell you date and far more accurate time then any automatic watch on the planet..in 2021 no one buys a watch to tell time...its more a status confirmation and fashion thing.. has little to do with the use of keeping or chrono or whatever..
