I would like a bigger brekkie for a day like that! This is an excellent series, I am enjoying it and looking forward to seeing if the engine does get the sponsorship to be put on display. Well done.
Your numbers were good on your last 👍 I just don’t get it Pete, this was a significant find, the story has depth, history, adventure, persistence and real effort & research and yet people prefer to watch camps, I just don’t know how to market this, the discovery deserves way more recognition 🤔
You are not wrong. Unfortunately, I don't get it, either. Maybe edit the parts together for a 30 plus minute documentary and see how that goes? I dunno the answer. Have you tried posting in the aviation history groups, always assuming there are some?
It must have been quite an amazing sight to see all the various parts of this tragic accident. Good to see you’re putting a warning out there regarding respecting the site and it’s history and importance to many people.
Thanks, yes, the amount of investigation that went into understanding how the skyliners were painted. Please see last years, Flight 441 found, I explain a lot more about WHY it crashed.
Thank you for this video! I've been to over 10 crash sites now and have wanted to visit this site for years but have had uncertainties about the terrain etc. so this video is very informative. The warning is good as well, I have seen wrecks in a wide range of conditions, with some picked over or tagged by souvenir hunters sadly. At least the terrain puts off most of those types reaching this one!
@@OutdoorsmanDave Yes indeed, no gatekeeping, I've run into that myself. I'll transcribe the list later today. Btw I am unsure where to DM through, do you have an email or such for that?
Alex, my community either converse with me via Instagram outdoorsman_dave or messager on Facebook Book Outdoorsman Dave (if you sent me a friends invite, I’ll accept and then you will sit across a lot more personal stuff than I post to TH-cam) thanks, excited to see where I might plan to find next 👍
Very challenging terrain Dave and quite a quest. My main study is Antarctica and I would guess you're familiar with NZ Flight 901. Dealing with these types of tragedies brings out different emotions in different people. The event happened and nothing can change that fact. It's a part of history and people want to understand the past, so with my hat off, I say a prayer for those souls. Safe travels to you as well and Thank You for bringing insight into this sad event.
Thanks Jeff, yes a real challenge. I Flight 441 found I explain how high winds pushed it off course and without an operational DME they didn’t know that on decent. Flight 901 was human error, not telling the pilots the computer flight path had been altered the day before, if you read the investigation you see a lot skulduggery on both tragedies 😢 legacy is important to me least we forget so bringing to light is the goal.
It is eerie there alright, I was there in 2010, saw a fraction of what you did, certainly is a place to b respectful, I would think that the families might be interested too though.
Did you go to the site of the port wing with the wheel hub? What was the wing like 12 years ago, has it deteriorated much since? I’d hope the families are interested but you can’t please everyone all the time.
I am sure most of your viewers know of or have Kaimai Crashes by Richard Waugh. Then the comparison with TE901 on how NOT to go about an accident report. New subscribers may not be aware of Waughs book on Kaimai and they would be well advised to get a copy and then the better to follow you.
Thanks for watching, If you have watched all four videos, I do mention his book and do discuss the how In earlier videos but it does not speak of what we found or details the paint scheme of the wings. Grant and Waugh are aquatinted.
@@OutdoorsmanDave Richard Waugh is extremely busy but I know he keeps up his interest. The main thing is to keep safe and not to become a burden yourselves on SAR. Keep the videos coming, I still hope that the other interest that Richard rekindled just after Kaimai was Brian Chadwick with the Dragonfly ZK-AFB and there are two good books on that - Lost without Trace? By Richard and then Gavin Grimmer’s Traced but still Missing! I have added my parents video from 1962 on Chadwicks flying on TH-cam with ZK-BCP Dominie and that is just beginning to be recognised for its historic record of flying in New Zealand in the early 1960s.

Already watched it mate 👌
Awesome 👏
Good job you guys. It didn't look easy, but well done for finding it.
Thanks Jo, you did a good review on the timber trail, it got me thinking of doing the entire over 24 hours, could it be easily walked at night?
@@OutdoorsmanDave yeah I reckon. It’s a really easy track. I’d be keen to see you do it in 24 hours.
As usual, some great content, Dave. I really like how you incorporate a bit of history into your videos.

Sorry, there’s been a bit of pushback on people going there, watch all the videos and you’ll work it out.
