It's known as The coxton Narrows I haven't been there in years and last time I drove through there it was creepy as all hell apparently they found one of the dwellings of the railroad killer somewhere in that General vicinity and that giant rock face is part of the Campbell's ledge Ridge which has some very interesting history around it as well I know quite a few different areas that are pretty local to this if you're ever interested I'd be more than happy then to give a tour. I wish you showed the bigger Falls Upstream from the ones next to the road there's two huge ones not too far up from there I used to go swimming at the Upper Falls
At around the 8:14 mark it looked like there was orange acid mine drainage water going across the road, meaning that there may be an abandoned mine somewhere nearby.
i have driven down that road at least twice in my life back in the early 2000's it was still useable but only barely lol. apparently i heard they also found a dwelling down there tied to the railroad killer
This would be cool to see in the fall. Where is this road. Looking for a peaceful spot to ride bike. Love this video. Your cave videos are great but I love nature videos to.
By my knowledge, Hoppy and Mountain Roads have both been listed as closed since the flood of 2011, but are still open to local traffic- a school bus passed me while I was biking on Hoppy just a month or two ago, and there were cars parked at half the houses. There are more roads listed as closed now after the lesser flooding this Summer due to destroyed bridges, I’m not sure what kind of funding is there to get them all reopened but there may be more like this in the future.
I think this is around Buttermilk Falls in Indiana County, but there are several of the same name across the state. There was a Buttermilk Falls in Beaver County where I used to live and there's another around Bear Creek in NEPA.
@@nickrapThis is in Falls township, Wyoming county- directly across a bridge over the Susquehanna from West Falls in Exeter township. The whole area was hit very hard by the 2011 flood.
Also everyone remember never go into the river from this side there are insanely deep trenches and the undertow is deadly There Are Places on the other side of the river where you can walk out to the islands along Route 92 but you have to do it when the river is very low. I knew three girls that walked in only one walked out. Many people also do not realize that the Susquehanna River is one of the two oldest if not oldest rivers in the world predating the Pangea break up and the Native Americans used to use the islands to farm corn and artifacts can be found in these areas as well.
That is really interesting. I love learning about these type of places. I'm from Altoona, I wonder how far away it is. Would love to check it out one day
@@CosmicNomad93 about 10-20 minutes ride west of scranton near the Falls Bridge that goes to rt 92. there are also 2 very large sets of falls a bit upstream from this spot but from what i am told they no longer allow anyone to visit. Buttermilk Falls is the name. also Campbell's Ledge is another awesome spot a few miles down river from here. 750ft cliff face

What area was you in? It looks like you were along the old Lehigh Valley Railroad with the north branch of the Susquehanna River off to your right.
