That's how everyone should feel about their dog.
I worked for a cat/kitten shelter for a while, can confirm we did do nebulizer treatments for certain respiratory problems. Usually the medicine made them super sleepy and docile so it wasn't too much of a struggle. We even had some kittens that were too small for the masks, so we would put blankets down in a plastic storage tub and cut a hole in the lid to feed the tube through and essentially hotbox them for their treatment.

I've seen them do that on vet shows for really small animals. I think O saw them do something like that for a lizard once, I think they were using anesthesia for that one.

My dad was just in the hospital, nearly delirious from just the hospital monotony and when a doggo came to visit and sit with him it made all the difference. Ps. He's in rough shape but home now.

Vet here. Yes, we absolutely do breathing treatments on dogs, cats, Guinea Pigs, or whatever species. There are extension adaptors for inhalers made specifically for critters.
We also use the Libre Freestyle glucose monitors. 😊

Dr Mike is talented, obviously smart, and seems to be a very conscientious doctor. He’s as handsome as can be, but I find the love for his Bear to be his best attribute by far.

For the kennel cough part: We usually put them in a kennel, close off the sides so the air can't get out and put a tube with oxygen and the substance they have to inhale through that tube into the kennel. Most dogs wouldn't leave that mask on. In unconscious dogs, we put nasal cannulas on their nose. You can also let them inhale like humans sometimes do, by putting their head over a pot with steam (the pot is outside the cannel, with a giant blanket over everything) but you can't let them outside the kennel immediately but have to leave them in there for 15 minutes without the pot so they don't get too cold, too fast. Veterinary nurse here :)

Nasal cannulas do work well in very sick pets or if you put an e-collar on them. Oxygen cages don't always provide enough oxygen and limit access to the patient. Otherwise nasal lines can be sutured or glued to the face when nasal cannulas don't fit. High flow oxygen has to be given through nasal cannulas, as well.
That is actually the same way we did with our parrots when they had a cold! Bowl of hot water and their medicine in front of their travel kennel and using a big blanket to cover it all for 15minutes!
My dog even got large volume pulmonary lavage. It’s amazing what vet care can provide these days!

My dog is almost as jacked as the really jacked bulldog. She's 3 so she's lost her puppy weight, but hasn't lost her skin tension and she runs a lot. But she also has a really short coat so you can actually see it.

9:34 Hey Dr. Mike yes this is definitely real. When my family adopted a golden border collie from a shelter he had distemper, and my mom had to give him breathing treatments like this regularly to nurse him through it. Although at the time, I'm not sure there were any nebulizers specifically for dogs. I think we used my brother's nebulizer. He ended up living for 15 years and was always a momma's boy.

as a vet, yes we do have respiratory treatments for inflammatory conditions, cats with asthma is the most common. We would use a human paediatric nebuliser to get a seal around the snout. works well and is really cute! x

I brought my cat, Giles, into the nursing home my grandma was in. After he visited Grandma he'd walk on a leash and visit other residents. He loved doing it and was so gentle and brought joy to the people there. The nursing staff loved him too.
My parents inherited a dog from a family friend a couple years before I was born, and before said friend died they took the dog to visit her and a lot of other people at the hospital. Dog died when I was a baby but I hear she was very good.

I was born and bred in Newfoundland and I've known a LOT of these dogs but I have to say, Bear is pretty spectacular. You two are great together.
Not a DVM but an assistant at a vet, we do absolutely do nebulizer treatments on patients with pneumonia, usually someone has to hold a tube up to their face as most doggos won't keep a nebulizer mask on like the one in the video! For both dogs and cats we will usually nebulize a few times a day sometimes with added medications depending on condition and severity.

When I was 8 and had my back surgery for my scoliosis I had a big labradoodle come in and he jumped up on my bed and laid on my lap. His owner was MORTIFIED and said "Omg I'm so sorry! He's never done that before! He's not supposed to do that!" And I just had the biggest smile on my face saying it was okay. And from then on when he'd come in, he would get up on my lap and snuggle me. His name was Yeti. I loved that dog. He was so sweet. I think the reason he jumped up on my lap is because he knew I was a huge dog lover and was missing my dog.

I rescued a Newfie. It was fun taking him to the vet as 2 male vet techs had to lift him up to the exam table. They would joke that it was like working with a pony. He was the sweetest boy!

I am so happy you show so much love to bear and show you even love bear kisses. I have 2 chihuahuas, bullhealer (pitbull/blue healer) and a orange cat. People are always so judgmental to my bullhealer, Haze, but when they see he is submissive to his mini bro's and fears, Blazin', the cat, pure silence. Glad you support animals and how beneficial they can be to people. Oh, my son has a dentist that has a dog for emotional support, probably the best part of his visit. Hope and Bear can soon touch the lives of young children again.

I played our cheat code and brought her Guide Dog in the next day (she's blind). Several of the other patients got a second round of "therapy doggy" that day, including all the nurses
