Hope you find it helpful, my amazing creative friends! :) What do you use more often: tracing by hand or live trace tool?

I love your presentation. You made it all easy to understand, both in what you were saying, and showing us, but also in the printed step by step information. Thank you.

I had been using live trace/live paint in cs3 many years ago and found it very fun and easy to use. switching over to cc was very frustrating and clunky! your video helped me not throw my computer out a window. thanks for being concise!

Every morning I try to watch one of your videos, they are all great! I've been using Illustrator and Photoshop for so many years but yet still discovering things I didn't know about either apps until I started watching you. And a huge thank you for turning me on to the Super Magic Eraser script!! Ended up buying all their scripts. With what I already know, what I am learning from you and now these scripts, I'm just having a lot of fun creating these patterns!!!

Thank you for another awesome video.
Although I also enjoy some texture and 'sketch like' lines, in this case I prefer the hand traced images.
Looking forward to the next videos. :D

I like both methods with your artwork. Mine is more sketchy so if I want clean lines I do the manual tracing. Otherwise, I too like the texture live trace created. I didn't think to unite my work so that was an extremely helpful tip.

I like a lot how organized you are about the things you are going to talk about :)
I think it is better the vector leaves, it doesn't have the handmade style on it but I hate when the live trace gives that weird curves and you have to arranged it manually despite the changes you made to the settings
I like to use this when the lines are super defined and my hand doesn't shake when I do it LoL

I like livetrace coz it keeps some of the rugged edges.. Do you clean up your sketches before you scan it to your computer?

Another informative video. Just wondering with the section where you opened the photo of your work, you mentioned about choosing the high fidelity photo option. If you scanned your work, would you choose that option or another one (I dont have illustrator so I dont know what the other options are).

The drawing should be cleaner and surrounded by a liner or pen. It seems to me then and the trace would have been better, cleaner. Too many small details, it is better to just draw a pen in the illustrator, or initially use a scanner.

It really depends on the style that you are going for. Clean style = trace by hand, rough, grunge style = live trace.

@@oksancia yup, personally i am into the rough one, it has more feels and not stiff. but then again it's depend on the style we need

Adobe ruined one of the most elegant tools in Illustrator. By this demonstration, they have made a "Live Trace" into something less beautiful and incredibly more complicated. For this reason, many designers, as myself, hang on to older versions including "Live Trace". Image trace is just not the same!! Why Adobe, why?
