Some great footage but what I would really Love to see is a comparison between 1980 to Present Day ( I remember holidaying there in the 80’s when there were 3 dunes you had to walk over to get to the Beach,there was a White Staircase as well ). I know it’s not possible for Drone footage from the 80’s but a CGI maybe ?. It’s very Sad to think that when the last little bit of the Dune that is now left has gone Hemsby will be open to the Sea !. Within the next 20-30 Years Hemsby is going to become a Ghost Town compared to what it is nowadays,the Amusements and Richardsons will probably still be there but a lot of what is closer to the Seashore will be gone ( people will definitely have moved out before then because they won’t be able to get Insurance). What I don’t completely understand ? Is when the Victorians built the Many Groins around our Seashore we had No problem with erosion and yet the groins have never been replaced or repaired or changed for more substantial structures ? . The Seaside resort’s have made more than enough money over the Years from Tourism and yet they never thought about protecting their own Front Doors so to speak ? The Council’s decision to expect the Government to Fund any Sea Defences while the Councils were in a good position to help financially protect its residents ? Yeah central government has a responsibility to protect the population but the population and local councils have more of a responsibility because they are the ones profiting from the Tourists spending Money in that area !!.
Hemsby aint the place i remember anymore:( its used to be a beautiful wonderful village but its turned to a real disaster i dont live at Hemsby but my to vacations are this place and ill never forget it,theres loads of cliff falls and nothings gonna work abt it now!
