Such lovely houses, all appear to be very well maintained and in great condition. So many happy memories in every one. A shame the houses were not at least be moved to another location ...

Unfortunately when people built these wooden houses they were supposed to be for holiday use only. But over time they became permanent homes. You only have to see the very old maps to see why this happened. When Mother Nature intervened it was money that stopped the defences from being strengthened. This is not the only U.K. coastline this is happening too. Some areas can be saved but others like here is not possible as the coastline is too long to have any chance.

Why aren't councils fulfilling their responsibilities by building sea defences ? These houses could have been put onto a lowloader and moved elsewhere. What a waste. I bet all of the debris went into landfill. That won't help the environment.

Because there is no vehicular access now to the houses

Sometimes when they red tag a home they won’t let the owners back in because it’s dangerous.

In California many homes were built far back from the coast, but as the years past the ocean keeps eating away until it undermines the house. We lose homes every year.

Something needs to be done to save the homes of people, more should be done to save the coast. It can be done look at the Netherlands we should look at that country for a solution.

Sand Savers are cheap and effective at preventing beach erosion. There's many simple ways to prevent beach erosion.

Where's the logic in destroying the houses before the sea does,oh to save having the anxiety 😞

Also to save the lives of the inhabitants if another storm hit at night, they would not stand a chance. Also the access road is no more and there is no place to restore it.

The road to those houses are gone. That’s why they’re being torn down.
