You've probably sorted it by now, but Build Ninja makes a nice shifter display plate which uses the Dakota sender to indicate gear selection and lights up at night.
Cheers for the vid. Good for dodgey backyard hot rodders like me. I did learn a lot from your other vids,as you are awesome at building stuff. I'm just more grass roots.👍
Huge conversion job to a 350 LS in a VR a big credit to Dave,, I also own a VR HSV Senator factory 5 speed manual keep it all original expect i install rear air bags in to replace the pump up shocks with a level ride own her for 25 years bout it at 3 years old ..Unregistered now put away ...
Great job Dave cheap reliable power.. Looks very neat n tidy.. The Ss kit will make it look very neat.. I own 2 Ls powered cars one for a daily and a 408ci ls stroker that I've fitted into my Hz holden sedan.. To do a conversion properly takes time and a fair bit of trail and error.. Always great content thanks Howard 👌👌
Sounds like a nice car and all the custom pieces SOUND great, surely the camera person could actually zoom in/walk in and SHOW the head unit install and the airbox? Great car and really well done conversion.
Would be interested to know how you sort out the shifter position and light. Am fitting a TCI outlaw shifter in my VR (700r4 box) and require the same.
Hi Mark. We used a build ninja light holder and LED set up which was not ideal for a factory look so we modified it and made it work. We also used a Dakota digital sender and box with lots of backyard engineering. As a very handy person it took me a full day to do it all to make the set-up work together.
Can you ask Dave if the original vr executive trim code is 14i if so does he want to sell the 2 front seats if he still has them im in the Illawarra also cheers Luke
How did you polish the red trim ? I’ve just brought a Vs ute with a fg turbo conversion all engineered and the red trim is letting it down thanks Anthony
I removed them from the car and sanded them with 1000, then 2000, then 3000 foam backed pads that I got from Wisharts Paint Supplies in Unanderra. I then polished them with automotive cut and polish using a rag.
I have absolutely no idea sorry mate. I got this from Frankies Auto Electrics in Albion Park as an unboxed sponsored deal. If you tell him it was for Daves VR he will know what you are asking about. It is a Sony and the code on the front is XAV-AX5500 if that helps.
@@AstillDesign I had a VR SS back in the 90’s. I loved that car, still my favourite Commodore of all time. I’m really wanting to get another one and do an LS conversation too. These videos are very helpful. Thank you.

I like that Dave is obviously taking the time it needs to make it all right, and working.

No worries! We will have to do a final one when its all done
