I did my 5.0 conversion with a 5 speed from a 3.8 auto in my VS in 2005 and still have the car to this day!
@shayladiana1555 I know in Victoria no as it had that option from factory. All you have to do is take it to Vicroads so they can sight the new engine number.
Yer like the black with red. Works well on the xr6 to. Cheers
Thats sick ya saved her from the wreckers mate shes clean as too
At 12:24 He’s even got the ‘ 90s period correct car security - the “club” steering wheel lock! So common back then …
@@maxgal*Thieves easily beat a Club Lock by using a hacksaw and cut through the actual steering wheel in less than a minute rendering the Club Lock absolutely useless.💯%*
Long story short:
I took my VR 304 engine with 4L60E home with after my holiday ended in 2010 and i put that engine in a car thats basicly a VK coupe with the steering wheel on the other side named Opel Monza.
And i drive it summer every now and then and i love it,the torque the sound the feel wenn floor it......The Holden 304 engine are great engine with decent power for there age and size,i love mine.
Great video there Max.👍
January 2024 in the new year - I'll be in Melbourne for a couple of weeks.
Take care buddy - From William
Currently building my VR SS, factory 4 speed auto w/ a 304. Beautiful car
What exhaust system do you have from extractors to cat then through the back. Sounds mint as
Put some 90s music on. Itl love it'
The owner must struggle to wrap hes little hands around that steering wheel judging by hes lil boxing gloves

Nice one boys, in the process of doing up the vs ute. I've owned 4 of them, still own 3 of them🤘
3.8 v6 in them all, I'm in the process of getting the 304 v8 conversion in the ute.
We have come to a point now were parts are starting to get harder to find.
I haveca vr calais obce ive finished it do a comparo betweens v6 eco buick a n d tge ecotech also a standard 5 ltr and a moddified one
The original Ecotec V6 3.8 had 147kw@flywheel. The VS 5.O had 168kw@flywheel. The extra 21kw is not much but the Holden 5.O V8 sounds so good.💯👍👍
Nice video mate. Keep them coming.
Thats correct but this one is has a diffent memcal and will have around 180-185kw and loads more bottom end torque there is huge diffence in how these engines feel and drive.
@@Berniessen I had a VN Series 1 3.8 V6 Executive T5 manual years ago and my mate at the time had a VP Clubsport with 18Okw and I absolutely hosed that thing from any speed. I ran a 15.1sec 1/4 mile and his Clubsport ran a 15.8 1/4 mile and his was auto and shift kitted. The 5.O V8 injected sounds great, but they are definitely not fast.
@@victorpeirce4753 yes, the VN series 1 were well known to have a lot of low down torque, making it easy to blow a stock 304 V8 at the lights. Unfortunately, Holden tuned down the torque with the VN series 2 onwards...
@@Berniessen the early HSV's were making 185kw, with some of thr later ones making 195kw...
You can tell it wants to go. Haha cops just dont listen'
