  • I this video I show how to remove a riding mower's deck and reinstall it. I show how to inpsect the spidles, idlers, bladeds and remove and reinstall the belt and covers.
This deck had a ton of build up on the bottom. after washing it off I see rust is starting to work its way through the metal. To stop the rust from getting worse and ruining the deck I paint the bottom side which will also help keep it cleaner on the bottom.
In the next video I show how to do a full service on the engine and make two easy modifications.
Thanks for watching! Please like and subscribe!

Two notes: 1) I cut off the first 1/2” of the spring hook (with a cut-off tool or wire cutters), making it MUCH easier to get on and off. 2) I run without the left spindle cover and have no issues with the belt jumping or falling off. I have to keep the right cover on, but it is more open and easier to clean out than the left one. Keeping the left cover off makes keeping the deck clean a lot easier.

Great video. I do have a question though. It is my understanding that the bearings inside the spindles are sealed bearings. As a result greasing the spindles doesn’t get any grease into the spindle bearings. This would make greasing the spindles a waste of time. Is this true? Are both bearings inside a spindle, sealed, preventing any grease from getting into them? Thanks…

I asked this in one of your other videos but thought it makes more sense here. I have a D130 I bought new in 2013. What would cause the belt to wear a groove into the spindle cover? It did this when new. (right side cover as you're sitting on the mower) I know you've said the covers help to keep the belt in place but is this normal? I replaced the spindle brake pads and belt a couple years ago but haven't checked if it's still doing it. Any thoughts?

Hi Phil, yes it is normal for the deck belt it to start wearing a hole in the covers. It does look usual. Not sure why they make it that way. Its a common concern from owners. There is a metal stud made into the cover that will take much for the belt to wear through.

Hey. I’m getting a free d130 and I’m being told it’s from a friend that it has a knock I’m hoping a tick and not a kncok but for free how do I go about fixing a knock I’m. A small engine mechanic btw

Asking questions claiming to be a mechanic of any sort... Classic.
