Yeah I mean they have been doing for videos for years and don’t think they will EVER take the music out sadly. The B roll is okay but the actually workout. Annoying. Would rather just hear breathing and footsteps
That tempo pace (not including the altitude) should be run by someone that can run 4:10 in the mile, a 14:23 5k, and a 29:55 10k. This is an opinion but maybe they have tested lactate and this works for them. Also I’m a little confused as to why the coach said 5k road race pace and then let them run 14:00 pace…
This is good insight and I think that you are quite correct. My concern is their lack of hip extension and flexibility. They will always remain in the middle to low 15 minutes 5k range with their current running stride.
Because in training you do have to push HARD at times. If the athlete feels good, let them hammer it. There will be plenty of days when hitting any sort of pace feels like bloody hard work. Lactate testing, threshold stuff is all about control of effort - but racing is all about not restricting the effort and sometimes training has to reflect this!
@ I agree. Hard efforts are integral in training, especially something like a race simulation i.e. 5x1k @5k pace (with 3’ rest) or 25x400 @10k pace. However, if you add a threshold before or after the 5x1k for instance, this effort should be controlled since the focus is really on the 1ks in my opinion.
Bro the music man
