- The Most Powerful Player in Volleyball History - György Grozer. György Grozer (born 27 November 1984), also known as Georg Grozer, is a German volleyball player of Hungarian origin, a member of the Germany men's national volleyball team and Italian club Vero Volley Monza, a bronze medalist of the 2014 World Championship, two-time German Champion (2009, 2010), Polish Champion (2012), Russian Champion (2013), Chinese Champion (2017).
2011 Grozer could not help the German team because of an injury. In 2012 the dynamic and powerful hitter smashed the German team to the Olympics and to the 5th place in London. In 2014 played at World Championship 2014 held in Poland. Germany won the match for the bronze medal by defeating France.

@@user-kw8jx6ub1j if brazil gets leal back germany is probably worse, but thats the condition. There is still Poland, USA, Italy, Japan(?) and france (which doesnt look that great but I imagine if ngapeth can lose some kilos they might still be good. They can be in medal zone but it will be rough

At 39, the superhero of team Germany was born. It's so amazing. He's terrific in court. Team Germany becomes sensational.
Is he still playing? I remember him being a total menace decades ago. I'm not sure he's the most powerful spiker ever (there have been quite a few hard hitters), but he sure is up there.

He is strong, effective and fast. That’s the quality of the last generation of volleyball. Gen Z generation these days has speed and muscle but makes so many mistakes and not efficient in the games. Also they are not calm enough until set 5 and when they play under pressure.
We have mighty players as Grozer for Germany, N’Gapeth for France, Zaytsev for Italy. Bruno and Lucas for Brazil, Maxim Mikaylov and Dmitri for Russia, Clayton Stanley for USA, and many more of older generations

Even Clay Stanley, the former American opposite, was not as strong and powerful as this. Grozer is a such monster to ever play opposite.

@@nanabish2388 I had the privilege of playing with Stanley's circa 2005 when he was playing in the Puerto Rican league ( when it was a still a winter league ) I was in the practice squad for Gigantes de Carolina since most of the players were either NCAA guys that would arrive late in the holiday season or international guys coming from overseas. The Guy was a barbarian pure brute force lol, the team had some really powerful international players, Jorge Elgueta and Markos Milinkonvic. It was mostly talent that was trying to get extra $$ during the European offseason. But then FIVB forced all leagues to follow the calendar Fall to Spring and smaller leagues like PR just died off. Funny how his PR teammates and HS buddies of mine that played with him in Hawaii got him to play in PR during the peak of his career.

i dont know to be honest how muscolar mass is involved in volley, i think power comes from speed and not power, a lot of good spiker are so thin so i dont really understand

Der Vergleich hinkt ja wohl gewaltig... Grozer Senior war ein super Spieler aber der Sport ist heute auf einem ganz anderen Level als vor 30 Jahren. Da liegen technisch, taktisch und athletisch Welten dazwischen. Sowohl von der Leistung, als auch den Erfolgen hat der Junior seinen Vater da wohl weit überflügelt.
