    Thank you for this review video.
    Thankfully the noisy keys can be fixed.
    There is a video titled "Fatar TP/100LR- noisy rattling keys- how to fix" that shows you how to do this.
    I have done this already and it works fantastic now! No noise!

      Yes, i have watched that awesome video, i plan on fixing the noisy keys or even better getting one more new SL88 to have 2! I love this thing despite its flaws!

    Finally the review i needed. I use to have a Nord Electro HP and it had the same noise issue. I find it really anoying it is impossible to play with headphones in the same room (or house) without distracting other people.

      It is true, it can be very noisy some times.

      @@4theSun I'm thinking in getting a Casio PX instead. I find it much quiet and very easy to carry around.

      I know nothing about that keyboard, is it a piano?

      @@4theSun Yes, a Digital Piano. But I’m thinking in using it as a midi controller.

    I recently got the SL73 and hope they have enhanced the build quality by now so I won't have to return it, but I have two other issues:
    1) When I change programs, it kills the notes/arpeggiators of my synths which is really bad for live performance. Is there a setting to change this?
    2) The aftertouch seems to have a very steep release curve (when you lower the pressure on the key) and I find it hard to control. Is there a way to change the aftertouch curve like you can change the velocity curve?

    • @4theSun
      @4theSun  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1) I think that this depends on the software vsts that you use, not on the keyboard itself.
      2) Try to connect the keyboard to its software editor to try to tailor the Aftertouch to your liking if you can't do it from the keyboard itself, the Studiologic website has a download for the editor.

      @@4theSun 1) Yes and no, the SL seems to send MIDI CC 123 (all notes off) whenever you change a program. So I was able to filter that out with my MIDI hub and it works for one synth (Korg MS2000BR), but not for the other one (Access Virus TI2). I use hardware only, no computer.
      2) There is no curve for aftertouch that I can find.

    • @4theSun
      @4theSun  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If i remember right, using the software editor to change settings on the keyboard, saves the settings inside the keyboard and now it works even without computer with the new settings, so you could change the Aftertouch with the editor and then use the keyboard with the hardware synths.

    Hello Sir - I would like to ask a question about this keyboard - I have one and I love it. But one thing I just cannot do or find out how to do, is to change the program on the sl88 from another instrument or computer. NOTHING seems to change the program. I have tried patch changes, accompanied by cc00 cc32 commands - nothing. Even Mixface will not change the program and that was made for the SL series. I have the common channel set to 16, but nothing I send to channel 16 ever changes the program. BUT the SL edit program does change the program... do you know what I am doing wrong?? I am asking you because you seem to know what you are doing where I clearly do not!

      @4theSun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, i haven't tried to do this kind of change on this board so i'm not sure if it can be done and how, but have you tried to set up both software and keyboard channel to channel 1 and see if it works? If not, i would advice to give it a try at channel 1 first and if it doesn't work then we will need to find another solution.

    Hi.I`m thinking about buying the SL88. But there a detail that worries me. For portability, the 3 little stick on the left. Aren`t they prone to break easily when transporting the keyboard around?

    • @4theSun
      @4theSun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, i don't take the board out of the house so i'm not sure but they are tiny enough and it won't be easy to break those. I think you will be totally fine!

    If you search on youtube, some people have fixed the problem of the noise just adding some lubricant between the key and the piece that makes the noise.

      Hello, to fix that noise you would need to open the keyboard and replace the felt that is underneath the weights of the keys.

    • @4theSun

      I think you need to configure each one of 4 channels within Cubase to see SL88 channels.

    PFPE - PTFE GPL 205 Type G2 Standard (expensive grease) helps. You will have to disassemble the entire keybed though. If the noise returns, try a very thin layer of silicon on the guides and when its dry apply the grease. These companies should have the guides to be rubberized from FACTORY, but they don't. Only think on profits!!! Other brands do the same. I had to disassemble the entire keybed of my Korg Kronos 88 several times until I made it right!!! The other option would be a new keybed (600$). Thanks but no thanks. I fixed it. Fix it at Your own risk or hire a good technician! Best, Nuno

    Take out the keys and put some grease on the plastic guiders and will clear up the noise.

    I got a SL88 love it till the key start to make noise after 6 months. The shop tell me it will cost about 50% of a brand new unit to repair! No more Studiologic! Fatar is so overrated. it is not just the noise, you can feel it with your hand. Bad.
