Hello Fi, thank you very much for your youtube videos. They are informative and really helpful not like all the advertisement kind of videos that fill youtube but don't teach anything. So thank for your time and videos.
This isn't working for me, I am not getting the MIDI 2 SL OUT Prompt, it just says SL Port 1 & 2... I am pissed off, it should not be this damn hard to connect a keyboard to it's native software.
Hello Fi this video very helpful, but I have a problem with my SL88 not connecting with my iPad it didn’t come with manual. I didn’t know about the SL editor so this video helped, but I did manage to finally link my piano app from the iPad without editor and I get sound but then I don’t you can see the keys being hit from piano on iPad but no sound is it because I have to go through SL editor, like I said it works and then it doesn’t I’m really new with all this tech hope you can help or make video on how to setup properly thanks, because I can’t find anything online that explains sorry for such a lengthy, comment/question (frustrated)😊
well, thank you for this info.... I have watched this 5 or 6 times... and I still can't get my SL73 connected to the SL Editor.... gonna keep trying.... wondering why Studiologic couldn't make something intuiitive... and / or at least put some really plain simple instructions?
The instructions in this video did not help me either. The user manual did : "On the GLOBAL/MIDI page, set “MIDI 2”, “SL Port 2” or “USB Speakers 2” as IN and OUT device and then click CONNECT". Though I don't have any of these literal options, I do have "SL STUDIO PORT 2". Selecting that option for both MIDI input- and output device did the trick. Changing the settings on the keyboard for me was not necessary, nor did I have to change the "Common Channel" setting.
yoww thank youu!! i just have question tho... do i have to connect it to editor every time e turn off the keyboard?? every time i reopen the SL editor, the connection settings are reset..
I'm not sure about that as i don't connect the editor at all, i connected it only once when i first bought it. Maybe you need to save the settings you change in the editor somehow so that it won't reset it?
thank you so much for this video. Im using a Mio iConnectivity adapter which connects to the midi in and out of the SL 88 and to the USB port of my Macstudio. It doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Well, I haven’t worked with 5 pin din in a long time. And I accidentally had the midi in and out cables reversed. I had an issue with the USB out dropping connection to Mainstage during a live show. So I changed two things and hopefully I’m good. First, I am now using the power cable for the SL studio instead of powering it from the USB cable and secondly I’m using 5 pin Din from the SL into my Mac. instead of USB.
Yásas!! I just bought a studiologic SL88 and I thought that this video would be the answer to my problem but I cant make the piano sound thorugh the USB without any MIDI cables. I did as you daid and always get a connection failed message. WOuld appreciate any help!! Efharistó polí!
Hello. To get sound you need to connect the SL88 to a virtual instrument. First you load up the virtual instrument and you set up in that instrument itself to connect to the SL88, then you will get sound. Normally the options in the instrument would be SL88, SLMIDI 1, SLMIDI 2, something like this. Try each different option to see which works for you.
Thank u soo much!!@@4theSun Read on anotherr comment that you susggest Magix Independence but I seem to have a bit of delay from when I play a key to when the sofware gives the sound. Do yu happen to know any other software I could try or how to fix this on th Magix?? Thank you again
This is not an issue of the software iteself, you need to do the right settings within the Independence Audio settings tab to reduce the delay. I don't have such a video so you should try to find somewhere a guide on how to do this. Also, you might need a better audio interface to reduce the delay, as it also depends on the power of your audio card. You will get the same delay on every piece of software unless you make the right settings in each software.
HEllo. Iam from Portugal. Great video, great job. I neeh help, if you know the answer. I use a studiologic sl 73 to control a roland fa 06, because the action of keys is much better to play piano stuff. But iam not figuring out something... when i change the transpose on fa 06, i want that do automaticly on sutiologic, but it doesnt happen. I have to change the transpose on both keyboards to mach. There is any way to the studiologic assume the transpose on roland fa 06 automaticly? Thanks
Hello, i'm not sure if there is a way to do it automatically. Have you tried to transpose only the sl73 and play to see if you don't need to do it on FA06 too?
@RadioBoards HEy. Yes, i have tried that, and its the same. I havo to change on both keyboards. The fact is that i use the fa 06 as a main keyboard, so i need to change sometimes the transpose for some sounds and songs, its more friendly change the transpose on fa. Buts its the same, if i change on studiologic, the fa dont assume that ande vice versa.
For external midi instruments you connect it with they right type of cables, for logic 10 i don't know how it works because i have never used logic software.
In Logic 10, for me it works plug-and-play. I do have the SL88 Studio, but that shouldn't be different. Are you connecting via USB or 5-pin DIN cables? In any event, Logic will show a dot in the top-center display (for me, next to the time signature) to show that there was a MIDI IN event. If that happens when you press a key on your SL Grand, then Logic is receiving the signal. Not hearing any sound then is caused by something else, but at least you know that the MIDI is routed into Logic.
Usb of the keyboard is better because you don't have to spend more money to buy a midi to usb cable, and you don't have to have more cables lying around the room! Also it is simpler to setup in the settings of the keyboard itself.
hello! Thanku very much for your videos about sl88. I need your help with setting up this keybord with my daw. u can record an example using your cakewalk anyway) please reply me if youre still use this keyboard
@@4theSuni don’t know how to use my sl88 100%. Really want to know how to split the keyboard in four zones, and play different instruments inside my DAW?
You'll need to load different channels in Fl studio, in the new project you have started, load different vsts, and assign to each channel a different vst. Also on each channel click on the midi in options to select SLMIDI IN or SLstudio. I don't know the terminology of FL studio but this is how all daws work more or less.
YOU ACTUALLY DO NOT REQUIRE MIDI MERGE OUT , JUST SIMPLY USE USB CONNECT AFTER SET UP CHANNEL , IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHOW MID OPT AND JUST SELET AND GOOD TO GO AND FIRMWARE VERSION UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY AS WELL ... THANKS
