    One way to think about the value of NFTs is: which is more valuable: a poster of your favorite musician or a poster that is signed by the artist? The poster itself isn't what's most valuable, it's the signature. And in NFTs the signature also can easily act as an access ticket to almost endless applications and possibilities in both the digital and physical world.

    Unfortunately, selling future royalties in an NFT may constitute an unregistered securities offering and get you in big trouble with the SEC. You don't want to do that without talking to lawyers.
    The good news is, your fans want to support you without treating it like an investment. They do it for social clout, to be a member of your tribe, etc. Super fans will spend a LOT of money on that stuff. Ask the Twitch streamers who have fans get into tipping bidding wars to be on a leaderboard for the night.
    In other words, you don't have to get in trouble with the SEC to sell NFTs.

    Nice content dude! I was the same guy as you making jokes about NFT and now Im one step away from makin my first one haha. I have one question about the example of giving mechanical royalties (%) of a specific song. I think it is a very good strategy but.. How would this work? I would need to split royalties on my distribution platform like distrokid? and if it so then I would need to change that split every time that someone re-sell the nft ?
    It would be awesome to hear some thoughts from the community as well. thx in advance!

    • @v064_
      @v064_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, i'm not an expert about NFT's yet, but i understand some concepts. NFT's works through smart contracts on a blockchain (at the moment is the Ethereum network).There you put the rules of your NFT by programming that smart contract as you wish. And there aren't distribution platforms as we now like Distrokid or whatever yet, mainly because this is descentralized technology and there are no intermedieries but is also because this is something really new. I know it's kinda hard to understand and is even harder for me to explain it bc english is not my first language lol.

    NFTs as a technology is great concept, but right now there's definitely a bubble, and many shaddy projects.
    But once the bubble pops and the market corrects itself , it's gonna create a new pathway for artists to monitise their work.
    Everyone should look into educate themselves instead of dismissing it as a scam.

      Its a modern day Pyramid scheme - Bernie Madoff scam at its finest.. People are just too stupid to call it what it is or are allowing themselves to told a scam is not a scam... We are NOT entering the matrix - none of this crypto or NFT are backed by real world assets and they are only guarantees by the developer, which means you have ZERO recourse when the bubbles pop - you are not insured by any entity that can provide you relief - the guarantors can just file bankruptcy or go dark and YOU will have no options to recoup your real world money investment.... Placing your IP in this is worse than putting your real world currency into stocks - you have ZERO protections... Your contracts are based on a virtual world that will NEVER be mainstream because its intangable... This sort of thing has happened before and if people learned any history they would know this.. People need to take a basic economics class.. Only invest the amount that you feel ok with losing (sunk cost) and no more...

    • @musicplaylistize
      @musicplaylistize 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chances are that the contract would be written in a way that it only covers the space occupied by the specific blockchain (probably based on ETH), so it couldn't take down your art/song from stores or Spotify.
      However, if you have your music on Spotify, you don't give a real incentive for people to buy your stuff.
      In the end, it will all depend on how you write the contract, and also, mainly, on how music is legislated, distributed and listened to on web3.
      My main worry is that Spotify just starts dominating the blockchain music distribution and then nothing will have changed.
