There will always B an emptiness to AIC without Layne. Although William has held his own, totally a remarkable talent. That's not taking anything away from Layne, God rest his weary soul. As a poet I emphasize with Layne's poetry (lyrics) it's all I can do not to ball every time I think about how lost that man was before he left this world. There is so much anyone of could have done but only if he took the first step out of his own head. Depression is BITCH a big fat sweaty bitch that turns everything good to shit.
Anyone that has the balls to cover Led Zeppelin deserves all the credit of this world. The music is not filtered through the studio gadgets and sounds very raw but that is the beauty of it. I let my mind filter the sound. Thank you AIC!!!
What the fuck!? This is insanely good. Not an easy feat covering Led Zeppelin. This is close enough to make it true to the original, but different enough to make it interesting and new. Fantastic.
Wow! As a zep-head, I'm thoroughly impressed! More impressed by the fact that he took the time to listen to the live versions of the song, and borrowed some of Robert's phrasings. Well done!
Robert Plant has gone on record by saying that this was the most technically difficult song of LZ's entire catalog and that it took them months to peg down the final version. So for AIC to not only just hop up on stage and perform it at this level IN ADDITION TO having an entire goddamn orchestra accompanying them is a testament to just how advanced Alice really is.
What is interesting....and amazing to me, is that Robert Plant hit that high note perfectly the month following this performance in the December 2007 one-off Zeppelin Celebration Day concert at the O2 in London.....with Jason Bonham on drums.....one of the best recorded live concerts I’ve ever seen....and Plant was 59 at the time.
True different horses for different courses love both but it is Robert’s song I think singers interpret their version as know one is someone else or we would have one band only
Quite possibly the best live performance of this song ever recorded. The original studio recording was a phenomenal work, and this captures it live better than any cover I've ever heard, even exceeding many of Zep's own live performance efforts.
A lot of bands have covered this song but this is the best cover I've seen, not even Plant can sing this like he use to, the sad fact of most singers that have aged.
The greatest song by the greatest rock band that ever was or ever will be - Led Zeppelin. And this is the single best cover of any song l have ever heard in my lifetime. Absolutely epic and totally monumental.
This cover has given me mad respect for William. That man is incredibly talented. He’s not Layne, but the dudes in AIC definitely made a good choice bringing this man into the band.
I am sure Jimmy, Robert, and JPJ would deem this a more than worthy version of their greatest musical achievement, Kashmir. I for one thinks this rocks f-ing so hard!!!
And your assessment of their "greatest musical achievement" would be....what? "Stairway To Heaven"? Bleh. For decades I would have agreed with BrandArt66. I used to do this song at Karaoke rather well. But in the last ten years I've grown to favor "Achilles Last Stand" over Kashmir. It doesn't lessen Kashmir's standing though.
Ten Years Gone might be the one for me. Page's layering of like 8 different tracks is just brilliant. The Rain Song is absurdly beautiful, too. In the Light is a relatively unknown, brilliant piece as well. I've been a big fan of Achilles' Last Stand for a real long time, definitely not discounting that song at all, or Tea for One for that matter; though, personally prefer Since I've Been Loving You for their bluesy staple. Just incredible composition in so much of their stuff - how can you possibly pick which is the best of their catalog?

Great for the original and new members that came in to keep the production of new music going forward. Kashmir is an excellent song for covering. Awesome vocals on this fella.
You do know that Cantrell asked Layne's mother for permission to keep the name, and she gave him her blessing...reason enough right there NOT to change the name.

The band was kind enough to meet the fans and take pictures with all of us who waited outside after the show! When I had the pleasure of looking up to the sky and meeting William Duvall (he's very tall I'm not!), I expressed to him how I was "perhaps the biggest doubter learning about a new addition, but hearing him perform was truly a blessing and I was never so happy to be proven that wrong in all my life! The chemistry was right, they all did such an amazing job, and it was honestly one of the most entertaining performances I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing!" The man was so authentically flattered and couldn't have expressed a more sincere or genuine "Thank You Very Much for such a great compliment! Thank you!!" then asked me "Is that a carburetor on your shirt!?!?!" Impressed me that he knew what a single barrel off of a 40's - earlier flathead was! He then shot the 5hit without being in any kind of a rush! The entire band didn't dismiss the fans or hesitate to engage with us, they took the time to talk to everyone! I couldn't believe that such a famous band could all be so humble! Great guys all around! That honestly made me an even bigger fan!! Now cameras and phones were banned at this event and they thoroughly searched everyone at the doors.. but I managed to smuggle one in and caught Down in A Hole, Man In The Box and Rooster if anyone is interested!

@Jerry Cantrell IF you are REALLY JC of AIC, I'm doing good, and I hope you are doing good too. I'm flattered to have you post/reply to my posts. Now, IF you are REALLY a scammer, do NOT ask me about helping you with some BS that requires me sending you money, etc. Steven Tyler tried to do that to me :) Not REALLY him, but, you know what I mean?
@Jerry Cantrell My reply really explained what I meant. If you are REALLY JC, I am flattered by your posting to me, BUT, I have been posted to by supposedly Steven Tyler, and he asked me about "helping him" with something that sounded "fishy" to me, so, the REAL JC, would know what I meant and leave it at that, I can NOT say for sure WHO has posted to me, so, IF you are JC, GREAT, LOVE ya, IF NOT, go and Fuck yourself!! Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face
And stars fill my dream
I'm a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race
This world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait
All will be revealed
Talk in song from tongues of lilting grace
Sounds caress my ear
And not a word I heard could I relate
The story was quite clear
Oh, baby, I been blind
Oh, yeah, mama, there ain't no denyin'
Oh, ooh yes, I been blind
Mama, mama, ain't no denyin', no denyin'
All I see turns to brown
As the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand
As I scan this wasted land
Try to find, try to find the way I feel
Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace
Like sorts inside a dream
Leave the path that led me to that place
Yellow desert stream
My shangri la beneath the summer moon
I will return again
As the dust that floats high in June
We're moving through Kashmir
Oh, father of the four winds fill my sails
Cross the sea of years
With no provision but an open face
Along the straits of fear
Oh, when I want, when I'm on my way, yeah
And my feet wear my fickle way to stay
Ooh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah yeah,
But I'm down oh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah
Yeah, but I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oh, my baby
Let me take you there
Come on, oh let me take you there
Let me take you there

Holy... WOW! Another group of artists added to my very short list of who “can” cover songs from the greatest rock band of all time.
This new Alice in Chains is really good too, the original was great, but, this new Alice in Chains are great also.
Steven Tyler tried to do that to me :)
Not REALLY him, but, you know what I mean?
@Jerry Cantrell My reply really explained what I meant. If you are REALLY JC, I am flattered by your posting to me, BUT, I have been posted to by supposedly Steven Tyler, and he asked me about "helping him" with something that sounded "fishy" to me, so, the REAL JC, would know what I meant and leave it at that, I can NOT say for sure WHO has posted to me, so, IF you are JC, GREAT, LOVE ya, IF NOT, go and Fuck yourself!! Okay....
