  • Sarah Rivkah Kohn is the founder and director of Links, an organization that provides emotional support to children & teens who lost a parent.
Sarah Rivkah was 9 years old when she lost her mother. In 2006, she started a magazine for teenagers who had lost a parent, providing a platform to connect with other teens in the same situation and professional mentors.
The success of the magazine led to more programming, eventually becoming Links.
‍Soon after, Links added Shlomie’s Club, extending the Links network of support to males, and Little Links of Pearls, to provide support for elementary-aged girls.
Links has since grown into an international organization serving over 800 families across the world.

I am amazed at Sarah Rivka's ability to pay it forward and using her unfortunate situation to help alleviate the pain of others who experienced a similar situation. She is so genuine, articulate and self-expressed .
I had the privilege to know her mother, a"h, through my cousins in Monsey. Her mother was everything Sarah Rivka described, and then some.
I wish Sarah Rivka much continued success in her important work.

It's sad how many children in the frum community lose a parent because of our communities tolerance of horrible and completely unnecessary custody battles, and the rabbanim who are completely silent on this epidemic

This is talking about death here, not divorce.

@@ecrstar to the child who lost a parent, I don't think it's any consolation to tell them "well your parent that you lost didn't die so we can't help you"

There are many unfortunate situations. That’s why there must be multiple organizations. But what you say here doesn’t console me.

So many challenges in our community but as Esther said: there are separate needs Both should be addressed but not by the same org

As a child who was a 'living orphan', organizations like links made me wish I was an actual orphan instead. I think nowadays there are more resources but back in the day you were basically ignored while those whose parent died got heaped with support, though the day to day challenges are very similar
