I love my mini flagship and mini sailor. I use them for very light duty stuff but I was happy with the purchase. I would like to see improvements over time ...I think Nextool could make the perfect keychain tool in time.
@@SurvivingtheDaily scissors aside I prefer the mini sailor. The scissors are smaller but cut fine. I like how the feel of it in general and snappiness. I also want a SOG powerpint, I have a tool addiction lol
Thanks Jeremy. There's definitely a market for small multitools, but hardly any of them are great. The SOG Power Pint has the best pliers and most aggressive file, but the worst scissors. The Roxon M3 has the best scissors. The SOG bit driver is cool, but it's unsettling to feel the two handles twist when any torque is applied.
Luckily I haven't needed to torque down on anything substantial with the SOG but I will keep that in mind. I think the Nextool doesn't really float my boat is because I am not a big scissor guy. I can't remember the last time I needed them for anything. Thank you for watching, my friend!!
I went on a similar journey when LM discontinued the Squirt. That used to be a go to gift for me and everyone loved it. I own 2 Gerber Dimes. Probably the best tool Gerber makes despite it's short comings, as Gerber quality has repeatedly proven to be trash. I like Nextool products and own them all, especially because I like to use the scissors. They also make a nice TSA compliant model with no knife which allows me to carry a multi tool on air planes. I own two SOG power pints and carry that the most. Great tool set and functionality for it's size. Best tool SOG makes by far. I just had to get over the mediocre scissors.
It is so sad to see the quality of Gerber products take a nose dive. Old designs and especially new designs. I am not a big scissor guy so the ones on the Powerpint or Nextool or Gerber are inconsequential to me. But I know others feel the same as you.
For me, I think the SOG has too many tools Id never use. I would much prefer the nextool. I dont have a flagship, but I did just order the mini sailor lite, since I already carry a knife. If the scissors on that don't work out, I might try the flagship.

The SOG is in the strange realm of not being a mini tool but smaller than a Leatherman PST/Bond/Rebar. The Nextool is 1.5x lighter and smaller and has great scissors. I might also add that the misuse of those small pliers got us to the end of the Squirt series. People with 1000V in the fingers, but no light in the brainbox got them broken so often that the replacement cost got too high for the Leatherman Squirt P(S) series to be viable. So you choosing the SOG for better pliers makes a lot of sense. ;)

How do you like the mini sailor vs the mini flagship?

The mini flagship urinates all over the gerber dime 😂
At this time, I would have to agree with you. LMAO

saw a video of someone with the dime and it broke ima pick next tool and sog power pint as my main multitool.
The dime ain't worth a dime. Good choice with the SOG!

That was Leatherman's downfall with the Squirt. 25 year warranty bit them in the ass.
SOG is absolutely useless, bad quality, not recommend anybody
