@disclaimer.imjokin Naomi checked him last race weekend for having an emotional opinion over the accurate truth & when he snapped back at her, she held her ground, was respectable to see. But yes I agree.
He's a world champion and did it by using his brain... 14 and 15 season he tried to match lewis on pace... in 16 he took the button approach.. win when you can and score the most points you can every race without risk
Brittney is back! Lol, I actually like Nico a lot, he's always very straight forward, and it makes me realize how fake so many of the other pundits are.
As a Brazilian, I’d like to ask Nico why is it that Europeans regard Lewis as the first black formula 1 driver champion, but not Nelson piquet. Nelson piquet is son to a white father and black mother, and even though Brazilians credit him as the first, Europeans never acknowledge that fact.
I want to see Nico doing more of the features martin does with older cars, be good to hear more of his input on even the slightly more recent cars he didnt get to drive
He's German... they will be brutally honest with their opinion. After world war 2 it was something they taught children from an early age to be open and say what they thought... reason why they are so ahead of the world in engineering and efficiency
this is the first time i am listening to Nico. being a new F1 fan. And it just shows why he was a champion. Great Honest Pundit. will follow his insights more
Dig the straightforward vernacular + followed up by his reasoning for each viewpoint. Love when people explain their opinions, it makes a big difference in opinions being received as a hot takes versus personal viewpoints. How did you NOT ASK A LANCE STROLL QUESTION after speaking about Perez for several minutes?!! I also love vanilla ❤
Love Nico! What a talented driver he was, I think one of the best in terms of pure talent.. I think he knows what is going on with Sergio and he is not saying
I've also always really liked when Nico is on tv. Listening to his insights or just his point of view, which is open and honest. He comes across as a genuine & funny, unscripted.. it upsets me when he sometimes gets criticised for speaking the truth. We need real people with truthful opinions in this game. It's refreshing to watch.
Interesting I thought. I really enjoy listening to his POV, analysis. Very good choice for ice cream flavor : stracciatella rules ! You miss to F1 and to us but it's a special thing to be missed, not a bad one.
I like Nico... huge Lewis fan here and i have big respect for this man. Lewis raced better in 2016 BUT made mistakes in Baku Suzuka and Singapore.. Nico was solid 👊
Nico wasn't without mistakes either. It really was the mechanical issues that gave Rosberg the chance to beat Hamilton. Racefans did a good analysis of that season.
I have a theory on Sergio Perez. I believe it's not just 1 problem but a combination of them. The 4 kids at home honestly can not be helping to keep his focus on F1. I also believe that, while the RB19 is fast, it is incredibly difficult to drive. The last thing, I believe that Sergio does not handle pressure very well.
Nico and Max, the only ppl to live rent free, in Hamilton's head!! Nico is great. He tells it like he is, and doesn't hold back words. Wish he was still on the grid. He retired to early, but if that's what was best for him, well than good for him.
Always enjoy seeing Nico, would have loved him to given it another season to see if he could have got another WDC, the rivalry between Nico & Rosberg was quite toxic in away, Hamilton didn't have it all his own way, it's getting similar with George. Valteri never got the better of Hamilton.
This may be mean to say, but Nico's answer should been: "He needs to do what I did." But seriously, the 2016 season was one of my favorite seasons for the sole reason of seeing a human driver literally maximising his potential to beat a god. Also, "it would take me half a year". I don't think he realizes how little half a year seems to us mere mortals.
I used to despise Niko. But his contribution to F1 a s a pundit is invaluable, and his mental fortitude puts him up there with Damon Hill in the WDC stakes. He shouild have never retired and drive for a different team. F1 needs him, bin Ricciardo!
Re: 11 vs 10 teams; the best outcome would be Andretti taking over Haas. Haas has not demonstrated any ability to improve, and is clearly not on the grid to win, and why people have doubt Andretti would do a much better job is beyond me. I do understand the physical track limitations at some GP where the logistics of adding a team is difficult, but Andretti would grow the pie, not merely take a slice.
Agree with this. They barely make any of their own car and Gene Haas isn’t willing to put more money into it, it’s a really bits and pieces operation they have going over there. Andretti are way more serious and have the money to give it a proper go
The F1 versus tennis comparison is interesting. Even active F1 drivers spend virtually no time in the car driving - a tiny amount of time actually driving compared to the time a tennis pro spends actually hitting balls on court. If a tennis pro's time on court was limited to the time F1 drivers actually spend driving, what does it add up to, seven to 10 hours every two weeks plus a little testing in pre season, he / she wouldn't be even close to competitive, they'd rapidly drop out of even the top 500. The narrative is always how amazing F1 drivers are, but for my money if they all spent multiple hours driving per day, five to six days a week like tennis pros spend time actually playing tennis (on top of their strength and endurance training - of course F1 drivers put lots of work in outside the car, but tennis pros likewise put lots of work in off the court), I suspect they'd be far, far (far!) better still. I think probably pretty much any of the current drivers could be comfortably better than the existing top standard in F1 if they could somehow be the on driver who drove the car as a much as tennis pros play tennis.
I'm really hoping McClaren can start 2024 in the form they're in now. As much as I like Max, I don't want a single team to dominate and I don't see Ferraro or Mercredes being quite good enough to challenge Red Bull.
Ferrari is the only team to "consistently" challenge RB, and have a better driver lineup.Remeber,McLaren didn't make massive gains by outdeveoping everyone, it's just that they changed direction for the car very late last year so it wasn't until race 9/10 that the proper car arrived. And that means that the very basics of the 24 car would have had less time and attention For me,ntho the biggest difference is the driver lineup. RB is has one car, Mercedes have come to blows, McLaren has trouble brewing below the surface and a rookie who still is massively down in race pace (he's been at least 3 to 4 tenths a lap off of lando in the races) Ferrari has Charles who is probably the best when it comes to pure pace, can go wheel to wheel with max and would have mounted a serious challenge last year if his car didn't blow up half a dozen times, and Carlos is very clever and fills a natural number 2 role.when the car suits Charles (which has only been from Suzuka on this year, as he couldn't.use oversteer as the beam wing was stalling) but is fast enough to beat the other top guys as well If you gave the teams roughly equal cars (like in 2010) I'd see as and Charles battling for the championship Carlos and Lewis fighting for P3 Lando p5, then postri and then checo
Nico said it well. You can't be a nice guy with Lewis, or else you'll be a side piece. And George is doing good! Also toto has been good with driver recruitment. Similar styles
Love Nico. Get the sense that he doesn't really like Matt that much lmao. Hes much more upbeat when talking with others, Matt is just so dull and vanilla
He made an analogy to further explain his point. Also he didn't compare himself to Federer, he compared him to F1 driver's in general, because being in F1 means belonging to the best in the world (for the most part, *cough* Stroll *cough*). Also it's just a name that everybody knows.
17:44 if mclaren get that car to where lando can push to the nezt level than hed be dangerous. Oscar has only beaten lamdo on track when lamdo makes a mistake on pace lando is clear
Given that Hamilton took out Piastri at Monza, I would not call his season clean. He did have more luck with reliability than Russell and Russell made more unforced errors this year. On the other hand, Russell did make those errors trying to extract podiums and wins.
I doubt a seven time world champion cares about finishing second. Hamilton would love to win some of the remaining races, but 2nd or 3rd means nothing to him, and nor should it.
Its very fitting that nico like his dad won his title because of bad fortune to their rivals. Nico retired because his best with Lewis's bad luck he still nearly lost. 2014-16 them mercs were so far ahead that 2 dnfs for a merc driver could lose the championship. Rosberg won the title by winning the races lewis dnfs or races lewis made errors trying to catch up with roseberg after Rosbergs great start... the races nico won at the start of the season he won on merit... after that he just did a button... prost... scored the maximum he knew he could and took advantage of when lewis dnfs.
Nico is the best pundit imo. Because he doesn’t do it full time he knows he doesn’t need to pander to the narrative so he’s just brutally honest
