Remember when the Lightsaber still felt graceful, like it was more than what it seemed, instead of a deadly slashy-stabby weapon? Now it’s just this bulky thing cause actors are using FX sabers instead of the lighter designated sticks, and it’s wielded like a flashy killing device.
Actually the lightsabers pre sequel trilogy were unlit, so they never glow unless added in post-fx. The lightsabers post sequel trilogy have built in lights, hence why they cast way more light in those films than the others. The disappointing saber combat is because the actors just can’t compare to Hayden and Ian in their prime. Even in Ahsoka, you could see Anakin pulling all his blows in slow motion because the Ahsoka actor just can’t keep up.
Now hang on a second, you might be onto something with a lightsaber baseball bat. We just need a special ball made of beskar and we have the Star Wars version of baseball.
Canon takes away the nuances. Every crystal is kyber now. Red is now automatically a villains color. No one can pick it and still do good, and no bad guy would go around with color they prefer. Utter asinine writing that is opposing what Star Wars is.

I still prefer legends lightsaber lore. Take Corran Horn. He built his first lightsaber with an inferior synthetic crystal. It worked a couple of times and then the synthetic crystal melted and he had to find a different crystal. Plus, he wielded a rarer dual phase blade which allowed for the blade length and intensity to be switched mid combat. Say, switching the blade from it's typical 1 meter or so length to 9 meters...or even down to say the length of a pocket knife. Luke's first saber was capable of doing this as well. He used this feature in Splinter of the Minds Eye. Sorry for rambling. Great video! MTFBWY!
I gotta be honest I hate the new canon's crystal lore there's just so many little things that are slightly annoying about it, the fact that red crystals can only exist by doing evil just leans so hard into Star wars issue of overusing aesthetic to portray morality (for example just making someone look scary or monstrous so that the audience knows they're supposed to be a villain), or that the Jedi now physically change the crystal by meditating on it which is minor but does feel like it goes against the concept of the jedis as in part guardians of the natural world, or that the fact that the new canon gave the crystals some vague magical power and they just lazily use them to explain how things work the worst example being that now the death Star is just a big lightsaber that uses magic crystals to destroy planets which definitely feels it odds with Vader describing it as a technological terror that is nothing next to the power of the force
I find the idea of bleeding a crystal to turn it red a much better idea than the sith just using synthetic red crystals. The idea of using synthetic crystals kind of takes the blow out of how evil the Sith truly are
@@dorianwiesner4477no. It was always defined as a blade of pure energy, and later it was referred to as an arc wave energy. But it functions in ways that are not possible for plasma.
Hey i stopped at two and half minutes to wonder if swords could be imbued with the force why not armor, from what I've read about the subject something like that would put beskar to shame. Just a thought
Wasn't expecting the next part of the Jedi Order Holocron series to be about the Lightsaber, I said the last time since the video ended about the Jedi joining the Republic after the New Sith Wars that their time working for the Republic would come next. A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one. The Lightsaber is many different things to many people, to some it can be see as destructive and dangerous, to others it is a symbol of hope and protection, but regardless everyone knows of its importance and the great responsibility that comes with wielding this device. If you don't take that responsibility seriously then you become like the Sith, which is why Jedi must be responsible with this tool, and that doesn't just include knowing when to use it and not to use it, but also properly caring for it, after all the Crystal is alive to a degree and like any living thing it deserves care and respect, that's why I prefer the canon version of how Lightsaber Crystals get their colors because it shows the Jedi work with and care for the Crystal, much like the Force itself the Lightsaber/Crystal is a friend, partner, and mentor to a Jedi someone who wants to help them and someone the Jedi can trust to protect themselves and others in a dangerous galaxy. However, the Sith only see the Crystal and Force as tools they use for their own interest, not partners or friends who they can trust because Sith have mager trust issues, so they force there own will on the Crystal to make it bleed and force it to go along with what they want. And of course, this means the Sith can't draw out the full power of the Lightsaber. Sure a skilled enough Jedi or Sith could use anyone else's Lightsaber effectively, we see that plenty of times in the franchise, and even non-Jedi, Sith, or Force Users can wield them effectively as seen by General Grievous, but even the most skilled warrior will only be able to bring out probably about 80 to 90% of the Lightsabers full potential that way. A Lightsaber can only be used at 100% effectiveness when its wielded by its one true owner the ones it's bonded with who knows the saber better than anyone. Only together can a Jedi and their Lightsaber be at 100% and truly incredible.
I prefer Sith Swords at least I get to see blood fly. Lightsabers to me are just overglorified fusion beam swords.I will always prefer the dark-side alchemically enhanced blade to an energy beam. I'm a Dark Eldar at heart.
Honestly, if I were a Force user I’d prefer neither. I’d fight with the Force. Why go toe to toe when I can crush my opponent from several yards away? Why try to fight 10-1 odds when I can use lightning or a Force Storm as a beautiful area of effect weapon? Better yet, why fight a squad of soldiers when I can manipulate and dominate their minds into becoming my puppets to defend me from the rest of their ilk?
By the logic of "Canon" wouldnt the double bladed lightsaber ALWAYS explode cos of the logic of a feedback loop causing the deonation? Also still hate the "colour" thing with sabers nowadays, specifically the whole "bleeding" and "clensing" processes.... just... irksome...
No, because a double bladed lightsaber would (or should) have two chambers. If I recall right without hitting up the wiki (remember when it was called Wookiepedia?), Darth Maul’s double bladed lightsaber used 4 crystals. I do agree with your second paragraph, though.
@Engine33Truck If my memory serves, and what I was using as referance, was Disney's "canon" of lightsabers, and if a crystal gets "overcharged" it detonates, but at the same time claim that the plasma of the blade is forcibly rebounded on itself by a field, then with both blades activated.... thats 2x the power being pushed back down into the hilt... should at least melt the hilt, if not detonate it
This is a large part why, when I had Ahsoka Tano resuce Kes (from Star Trek Voyager) from the Dark Side she was in Fury, I decided to have Kes use a lighsaber. Because Fo-rm 0 taught her exactly what KEs needed after that Voyager episode.
Wait. I have a theory. The reason why disney lightsabers are so weak. Isnt because of disney and their logic. Its the power and quality of lightsabers have become so low. That theyre essentially training lightsabers. What are your guys thoughts on this?
It’s possible. The Jedi Order as a whole isn’t the quality it was before the New Sith Wars. An indirect echo of Kreia’s statement: “if you were to encounter an ancient Sith Lord in combat, you would learn we are but children playing with toys compared to the prowess of the old masters”.
@Engine33Truck That's primarily because the sith still somewhat used sith war blades during the new Sith Wars if I recall. And everybody was inherently stronger and relied on the force in combat more than lightsabers.
Sith bleeding their kyber crystals to turn red is a much better and more imaginative idea than just having the Sith use synthetic crystals that make the saber red.

Two things I love about Star Wars.
Ship lore & lightsaber lore
Lightsabers are for slicing and dicing after all, not whack enemies like a glowing baseball bat.

The Jedi and Je'daii Order got the concept of lightsabers thanks to Xesh from the Dawn Of The Jedi Comics. One of my favorite characters.

Lightwhips are hard to control, take an absurd amount of training and expertise, and are not good for war. I, myself; prefer Sith Swords.
