Do you think that donating just $1 per month would make your current lifestyle impossible to sustain? If not, donate just $1 per month, like I do, because your donation, summed up to all the other small donations, will increase the power of the SENS research foundation to save you, and who you love now and in the future, from the tragic suffering of old age. It makes sense, doesn't it? :-)
@@taylor_tony True, but just similarly to the small effect the donation would have on my financial situation, it would have small effect for the foundation, so I would prefer to invest in myself at this point :) But donating to SENS is definitely a thing I'm looking forward to in the nearest future

Due to the explosion in aging research in Silicon Valley and the billions being poured into it, Aubrey has recently moved his escape velocity date from 20 years in the future to 18 years. I think theirs an element of truth to what aubrey says about people not wanting to get their hopes up but I also genuinely think that people are so apathetic that even if they did know that they would never get old would probably just shrug their shoulders - most people I think don't love life enough to care enough about doing something to live indefinitely - they don't want to get sick obviously but their lives show no signs of getting better so nothing is done about it
I wish Aubrey success, but if medicine has taught us anything, it suggests fixing the symptom, doesn't help much in the long run. For example, removing the plaques and tangles has not proven to be effective in curing Alzheimer's. Would love to hear Aubrey's take on Michael Rose's Hamilton Theory that suggests hundreds of genes become maladaptive as you age (see his interview on the Anti-Aging Hacks podcast). Also, Bret Weinstein has a great summary of George Williams' antagonistic pleiotropy theory of aging on The Portal Podcast (59m mark), where the Hayflick limit is described as a protection should a cell divide uncontrollably.
